Patent number: 8234328Abstract: In embodiments of the invention, a system receives selections from a user based on a list of pre-defined monitoring categories and/or optionally receives custom category definitions from the user. The option for custom category definitions may be advantageous due to the flexibility provided to a system administrator or other user. In embodiments of the invention, the pre-defined and/or custom monitoring categories may be or include complex hierarchical behavior. Such an approach provides monitoring algorithms that can achieve improved accuracy compared to known methods. In embodiments of the invention, the order of computations used in resolving a monitoring category may be re-ordered, statically and/or dynamically, to improve the efficiency of monitoring operations.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2008Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Trustwave Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Daisuke Baba, Charles Douglas Phillips

Patent number: 7369240Abstract: An apparatus and methods for the real-time inspection for defects in and on transparent sheets, such as a sheet of glass, are described. A sensor detects a transparent light reflective coating on a transparent sheet and defines a sample profile. An optical inspection system utilizes an illumination source and an imaging device to obtain images of the transparent sheets. An image processing system analyzes for defects in the transparent sheets, including coating defects and defects in edge deleted perimeters. Inspection variables which correspond to the sample profile are used by the optical inspection system and image processing system for real-time inspection.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2006Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Litesentry CorporationInventors: Mark Matthew Abbott, Douglas Phillip Wornson, Eric Loren Hegstrom

Publication number: 20070238630Abstract: An anti-venom and anti-toxin subcutaneous skin cleanser applied topically to a bite, sting or other skin irritation to quickly relieve the associated itching and irritation. The cleanser is a combination of surfactant chemicals that are known to increase the porosity and/or permeation of the skin, chemicals which can dissolve venoms and toxins into water-based fluids, chemicals that can cause gentle abrasion for the purpose of opening up the pathway from the skin surface, and chemicals which are chemically active in a way that they can change the molecular structure of the venom or toxin.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 29, 2006Publication date: October 11, 2007Inventor: Douglas Phillips

Patent number: 6493922Abstract: A climbing nut is generally trapezoidal and has planar upper and lower faces and paired adjacent faces that are convex and concave, respectively. Opposed faces of the nut are therefore convex and concave, respectively. The convex faces have lateral longitudinally extending leg segments that assist in triangulation and strengthen the nut. The geometry of the faces allows for greater placement options. The nut alternately has one or more asymmetric curved faces. The nut is milled from stock extrusion material.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2001Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Assignee: Metolius Mountain Products, Inc.Inventor: Douglas Phillips

Patent number: 6081930Abstract: A pair of pants includes a closure system in which the first end of a belt is fixed to the waistband of the pants at the first flap of the fly opening. The belt extends circumferentially around the waistband and is adjustably connected to the second end of the waistband near the underlapping flap of the fly opening, without spanning the fly opening between the overlapping and underlapping flaps. The belt length may be adjusted. Because the belt does not span the fly opening the fly may be opened and closed in a standard fashion without the need to disconnect or reconnect the belt each time the fly is opened. The belt length need be set only once.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1999Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Metolius Mountain Products, Inc.Inventor: Douglas Phillips
