  • Patent number: 12327589
Abstract: The present invention provides an efficient quantum memory for storing a quantum state of light, such as a photon, for a temporary period of time in a fibre-integrated optical cavity and then recall the quantum state of light and quantum information at a later time with a high probability of success. The present invention uses a nonlinear optical switching mechanism to modify at least one property of the quantum light, or cavity, to trap the quantum light in the optical cavity. Subsequent application of the nonlinear optical switching mechanism switches at least one property of the stored quantum light, or cavity, to release the quantum light from the optical cavity. The present invention also provides quasi-deterministic single-photon generation by temporal multiplexing of a photon pair source integrated within the cavity.

  • Patent number: 12326779
Abstract: A method for improving fault tolerance of MapReduce computing systems processing extremely large data sets employs a custom mapper script that outputs the results to the shuffle and reduce processes. The Reducer writes its results into multiple files that are then compressed. The resulting files are processed by a map-only Reducer job that aggregates and reduces the results of a single file into a single output. The non-block compression prevents the file from being split across multiple mappers. The job can recover if a single mapper fails without requiring that each Map node be rerun, thus improving fault tolerance.

  • Patent number: 12326064
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus, a system and a process for regulating a wellhead control mechanism. The apparatus is configured to control actuation of a wellhead control mechanism by moving a moveable body of the apparatus between a first position and a second position. When the apparatus is in the first position a valve actuator is actuatable and when the apparatus is in the second position the valve actuator is physically interfered from actuating. When the apparatus is in the second position, the wellhead control mechanism cannot be actuated and is held in either an open, a partially open or a closed position. Other embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system that directly controls actuation of a wellhead actuation mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20250185062
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices, and systems for enhanced data channel access (EDCA) for coordinated channel access. Some aspects more specifically relate to EDCA prioritization for accessing a wireless channel during restricted target wakeup time (rTWT) service periods (SPs). For example, a first wireless device may receive an indication of EDCA parameters defined for the first wireless device with respect to an rTWT SP of a second wireless device. In such examples, the first wireless may contend for access to a wireless channel during the rTWT SP of the second wireless device using the EDCA parameters according to the received indication. In some implementations, the second wireless device may broadcast a beacon including the EDCA parameters. In some other implementations, the second wireless device may transmit one or more rTWT negotiation messages including the EDCA parameters defined for the first wireless device.

  • Patent number: 12321697
Abstract: There is provided a computer-implemented method for ensuring that a large language model (LLM) generates original text, including (i) providing or accessing a database of previous text that the LLM should not generate, wherein the database includes text used to train the LLM; (ii) checking potential continuations generated by the LLM against the database; (iii) when a potential continuation generated by the LLM matches text in the database, adjusting the potential continuation generated by the LLM to no longer match that text in the database, to produce an adjusted potential continuation, and (iv) storing the adjusted potential continuation.

  • Patent number: 12323857
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for enhanced bandwidth negotiation. Some implementations more specifically relate to request-to-transmit (RTS) and clear-to-send (CTS) frame designs that support bandwidth negotiations over a range of bandwidths achievable in accordance with the IEEE 802.11be amendment, and future generations, of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In some implementations, a bandwidth negotiation frame (such as a CTS or RTS frame) may be configurable to support bandwidths greater than 160 MHz. In some aspects, the bandwidth negotiation frame may conform to a legacy control frame format. More specifically, one or more bits of a service field associated with the legacy control frame format may be repurposed to carry enhanced bandwidth information. In some aspects, a recipient of a bandwidth negotiation frame may interpret one or more bits of the service field to carry enhanced bandwidth information when the frame is transmitted by a non-legacy transmitting device.

  • Publication number: 20250173230
Abstract: The present inventors devised techniques and technologies that streamline the protection of data stored on shared file storage e.g., on file servers, network-attached storage (NAS), share drives, network shares, etc., in a data storage management system. Some embodiments feature a proxy-less backup configuration in which backup services hosts are assigned to perform a secondary copy job, at job runtime, based on host attributes relative to the data source. Some embodiments are configured to, at job runtime, automatically resolve data paths to the source data, and automatically mount the data paths, rather than requiring data paths to be expressly pre-administered on all possible candidate backup machines. Some embodiments automatically protect data from shared file storage that was not expressly given a backup plan (“undefined” data) by applying default preferences for protecting undefined data.

  • Publication number: 20250169967
Abstract: A neck trial is disclosed. The neck trial has a body and a neck. The body has an exterior surface. The neck extends away from the body along a neck axis. At least one first line is provided on the exterior surface, which extends in a first direction parallel to an inferior-superior axis of a patient when in use. At least one second line is provided on the exterior surface, which extends in a second direction parallel to a medial-lateral axis of the patient in use. The number of first lines, or the position of the first line or lines relative to the second line or lines, is indicative of an amount of offset in the medial-lateral direction caused by the neck trial. The number of second lines, or the position of the second line or lines relative to the first line or lines, is indicative of an amount of leg-length in the inferior-superior direction caused by the neck trial. A kit of parts, a trial assembly and a method of trialling a joint of a patient are also disclosed.
