  • Patent number: 7342161
Abstract: The present invention is a hollow body stringed musical instrument that utilizes a low mass, soundboard having a 12 foot radius dome configuration. The soundboard is made of a three ply torsion box design utilizing a honeycomb substrate as the central core. Linear adjustable tuning braces are incorporated in the hollow body. The side and back of the instrument are also of a three ply construction having a closed cell, resilient polymer foam as the central layer. All structural braces are eliminated from the interior of the instrument's body.

  • Publication number: 20040249067
Abstract: The invention comprises a linear or branched polymer derivative comprising a water soluble and non-peptidic polymer backbone that incorporates an optionally protected vicinal diol, which is either embedded in the polymer backbone or is attached as a pendant group, wherein each linking group (linker) between the polymer backbone and the vicinal diol is a chain comprising at least two adjacent saturated carbon atoms. The invention further comprises a method of using said polymer derivative to form an aldehyde and either a second aldehyde or a ketone by way of oxidative cleavage.

  • Patent number: 6713529
Abstract: A hot-melt ink for use with an ink jet printing apparatus is a liquid at about 100° C. to about 130° C. and solidifies to a two-phase solid having an elastic phase and a crystalline phase. The ink is formulated from a carrier, a first plasticizer, a linear block copolymer, a block copolymer plasticizer, a flow additive and a colorant. The block copolymer plasticizer, in combination with the linear block copolymer forms an elastic phase of the ink upon solidifying. The first plasticizer exhibits sufficiently low viscosity at elevated temperatures to permit ejection of the liquid ink from the printing apparatus. A method for producing indicia is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6672478
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for dispensing neat and measured quantities of the viscous liquid contents of deformable flexible tubes. The disclosed method entails dispensing a small quantity of the contents until a depleted portion near the crimped end of the tube is created, and then folding the depleted portion toward the open end of the tube and securing the fold with an elastic band stretched to encircle and fit snugly around the folded portion. Dispensing, folding and securing are continued until the entire tube is secured in folds and the tube is nearly devoid of contents.

  • Publication number: 20030188326
Abstract: Methods and compositions for the diagnosis of cancer susceptibilities, defective DNA repair mechanisms and treatments thereof are provided. Among sequences provided here, the FANCD2 gene has been identified, and probes and primers are provided for screening patients in genetic-based tests and for diagnosing Fanconi Anemia and cancer. The FANCD2 gene can be targeted in vivo for preparing experimental mouse models for use in screening new therapeutic agents for treating conditions involving defective DNA repair. The FANCD2 polypeptide has been sequenced and has been shown to exist in two isoforms identified as FANCD2-S and the monoubiquinated FANCD-L form. Antibodies including polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies have been prepared that distinguish the two isoforms and have been used in diagnostic tests to determine whether a subject has an intact Fanconi Anemia/BRCA pathway.
