  • Patent number: 8272320
Abstract: A cooking apparatus having a waste heat recovery system for incorporation into broilers, ovens, and toasters, the apparatus including a cooking chamber having a cooking platform, at least one air plenum disposed in the upper portion of the cooking chamber and having a plurality of air outlets for producing a focused forced air, a low pressure air source connected to the air plenums, a heating element or burner disposed under each of said air plenums, such that said curtain of focused forced air guides and directs heat from said heating element toward food product being cooked, and heat exchange pipes disposed between at least two of said air plenums. Radiant heat generated from the heating elements or burners rises in the cooking chamber and is retained between the air plenums to maximize heat transfer from the heated air to the heat transfer pipes, and thus to the low pressure air in the low pressure air system. The recycled heat enhances cooking.

  • Publication number: 20110074332
Abstract: A servo system is provided for controlling movement of a flexible structure having multiple masses and elements. Each element couples a respective two of the masses and functions as a spring when the flexible structure is subject to a linear or rotational input at or above a frequency at which the respective element exhibits flexure. The servo system includes multiple sensors, where each sensor is disposed relative to a respective one of the masses to sense a respective acceleration. A motor having a torque input may operatively be configured to output one of a linear or rotational force on the first mass based on a torque signal present on the torque input. A servo controller that receives each sensed acceleration from each sensor may generate a compensation feedback signal based on a sum of sensed accelerations. The torque signal may be output to the motor based on the compensation feedback signal.

Abstract: A retractable oven rack includes a slidable wire base with four wire sections extending generally horizontally around a periphery. Two of the wire sections extend parallel to each other along the width of the wire base and the other two extend parallel along the length. The four wires sections are connected to each other at their ends. A pair of support rods extend from and respectively parallel two of the wire sections along the length of the slidable wire base. The oven rack also includes a grid shelf having a pair of raised wire sections extending the length of the grid shelf that are slidably supported on the pair of support rods for allowing the grid shelf to be supported and slide on the pair of support rods.

  • Publication number: 20090240667
Abstract: A definition exchange system comprises a distribution center that acquires context-driven definitions from any number of content providers and provides access to the context-driven definitions to any number of users. A datastore comprises media files that may be in multiple languages. Audio and visual files are created so that users interested in a specific vocabulary can hear words defined and in context. In a similar manner video files are created in which definitions of words are portrayed visually and aurally to enhance the learning experience.

  • Patent number: 7558914
Abstract: A deterministic flushing of one or more storage data objects buffered within a storage data buffer to a storage medium involves a processing of a host data object including writing a storage data object corresponding to the host data object to the storage data buffer, and a flushing of the storage data object(s) buffered within the storage data buffer to the storage medium prior to or subsequent to (i.e., relative to) the writing of the storage data object corresponding to the host data object to the storage data buffer as a function of an occurrence determination of a storage data buffer flushing event. The deterministic flushing further involves a queuing of a host data buffer meta-data update request for later processing.

  • Patent number: 7530884
Abstract: A key duplication system employs a modular key duplication attachment in combination with a high-speed, rotary powered tool and a profiled abrasive cutter. The attachment comprises a base, a carriage assembly movable relative to the base, a profiled stylus secured to the base, a first clamping vise for retaining a specimen key at a fixed (i.e., stationary) position relative to the carriage assembly and a second clamping vise for retaining a key blank at a fixed position relative to the carriage assembly. When so-retained, a bottom flat surface of the specimen key and a bottom flat surface of the key blank rest in a common working plane and the tip of each key is separated by a first distance. The cutter and stylus are aligned and secured to the base such that movement of the carriage, relative to the base, simultaneously brings them both into contact with appropriate surfaces of the key blank and the specimen key, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7246102
Abstract: A decision tree, representing a knowledge base, is segmented into at least two decision tree portions. The lower portion includes the tree entry point and is stored in a memory element with a faster access time than the upper portion, which includes the terminating element of the decision tree. Thus during the process of reading the tree entries for comparing them with the search object, the search entries in the lower portion of the tree can be read faster than the search entries in the upper portion, resulting in a faster traversal through the entire decision tree.

  • Publication number: 20060175439
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for controlling both the high voltage and turbine speed in a rotary atomizer used in the electrostatic spray coating of a workpiece such as an automotive vehicle. A rotary bell cup spray atomizer carried by a maneuverable robot arm is charged to a high voltage potential which charges the atomized particles exiting the bell cup. The bell cup is rotatably driven by a turbine. The voltage to and speed of the atomizer, respectively, are regulated by a high voltage multiplier and a fiber optic transceiver. A low voltage electrical source remote from the robot arm assembly powers the voltage multiplier and the transceiver, both housed adjacent the atomizer, via two shielded, low-voltage, electrical cables extending from the low voltage source to the housing. One of the electrical cables connects to the multiplier to regulate the voltage applied to the atomizer.
