  • Patent number: 10238145
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems, apparatuses, and methods for assembling cartridges for aerosol delivery devices. The cartridges may be assembled by coupling a base of the cartridge to a carriage that is transported via a track. The track transports the carriages between various substations at which one or more parts are added to the base. The carriage may be lifted from the track by a lifter mechanism at each substation in order to perform assembly operations on the base. An inspection system may inspect the cartridges at various stages of completion at or between the various substations.

  • Patent number: 10230466
Abstract: A light source emits a modulated light, and a radio-frequency transceiver disposed therewith emits a radio-frequency signal. A mobile device may receive either or both signals and determine its position based thereon. The light and radio-frequency sources may be disposed in node in a network of said sources, and the nodes may communicate via the radio-frequency transceivers.

  • Publication number: 20180352824
Abstract: A method of making a pressurized packaged liquid beverage. The method includes filling a container including a one-way valve with a liquid beverage, sealing the container, introducing a volume of gas through the one-way valve after sealing the container, and agitating the liquid beverage inside the sealed container, When the container is opened, the liquid beverage increases in volume and separates into liquid phase and a drinkable foam phase. The method may be carried out in a sealed container including a one-way valve adapted to allow a gas to enter the first container but not exit or a circulatory agitation system according to other embodiments. Thee liquid beverage may include milk, coffee, fruit juice, or mixtures thereof, particularly mixtures of milk and coffee, and may further include a gum. The gas may be nitrous oxide.

  • Patent number: 10150974
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and system for the production of a solvent using monophasic solventogenic Clostridia in a single stage process. More particularly, the process and system relate to the use of a culture vessel for culturing monophasic solventogenic Clostridia, wherein cell growth of the Clostridium is monitored and optimized by the addition of controlled amounts of culture media and/or the removal of controlled amounts of solvent. The process and system may particularly be used to produce solvents such as butanol, acetone and ethanol.

  • Publication number: 20180334691
Abstract: The present invention relates to a two stage continuous microbiological process for the production of solvents such as acetone, butanol and ethanol. Preferably, the process involves the use of a solventogenic bacteria such as clostridia. In the first (acidogenic) stage, the culture vessel is fed with fresh growth media at dilution rates that support fast growth and acid production. The culture flows into the second (solventogenic) stage, which is a separate culture vessel or vessels, designed to provide the culture with sufficient residence time to convert acids into solvents. Preferably this vessel is tubular or a series of linked batch vessels.

  • Publication number: 20180317511
Abstract: A method of making a pressurized packaged liquid beverage including filling a container including a one-way valve with a liquid mixture including a base liquid and a gum; sealing the container; introducing a volume of gas through the one-way valve after sealing the container; and agitating the container. When the container is opened, the liquid mixture increases in volume and separates into a liquid phase and a drinkable foam phase, which may persist for an extended period of time. The base liquid includes milk, coffee, fruit juice, or mixtures thereof.

  • Publication number: 20180306899
Abstract: An example of a technique for maintaining a previously calibrated mobile device positioning system to account for changes in perturbers of the Earth's magnetic field. A mobile device obtains a corrected heading estimate of the mobile device within a space based on a previously recorded heading correction value. The mobile device also calculates a device heading relative to a previously orientated map of the space. The mobile device subsequently updates the heading correction value with any deviation between the corrected heading estimate and the calculated device heading.

  • Publication number: 20180196972
Abstract: A tag is configured to provide information that enables a processor or other computing device to locate the tag and any asset associated with the tag in an area. The tag incorporates a motion sensor responsive to movements of the tag above a predetermined rate and a predetermined magnitude. In response to the movements above the predetermined rate and magnitude, the motion sensor generates a voltage exceeding a predetermined threshold. An energy-saving process exploits the tag's microcontroller's transitions between a “sleep” state and an “awake” state. While asleep, the microcontroller maintains a clock and data in memory, and monitors an input from the motion sensor. In response to voltages at the input over the predetermine threshold, the microcontroller receives signals from one or more nearby beacon nodes in a network operating in the area, process the signals and transmit information based on the processed signals, for a position determination.

  • Patent number: 9989624
Abstract: An example of a technique for compensating for effects of Earth's magnetic field variations on a mobile device positioning system. A mobile device utilizes a compass to obtain an absolute heading when located relative to a visible light source. The mobile device obtains a heading correction value based on an identifier of the visible light source. An orientation of a map displayed on the mobile device is rotated based on the absolute heading and the heading correction value in order to provide an indication of a location of the mobile device properly oriented on the map.

  • Patent number: 9918013
Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to a method for a method for hiding a camera preview feed of a mobile device application. The method may proceed by the mobile device application enabling an imaging sensor of the mobile device, where the software of the mobile device requires the mobile device application to display the camera preview feed when the imaging sensor is enabled. The method may continue by creating a camera preview surface for displaying the camera preview feed. The method may further continue by modifying the camera preview surface to be hidden from the mobile device user. The method may end by setting the camera preview feed to be displayed on the camera preview surface. In another aspect, the present disclosure further relates to modifying the camera preview surface by resizing the camera preview surface to be one pixel large.
