  • Patent number: 5010221
Abstract: A drip-type coffee maker adapted for use in a microwave oven. The coffee maker includes a container which can dispense coffee directly into a receptacle therebelow and has an upper reservoir for holding water, a lower filter element for holding coffee grounds and a partition, which separates the reservoir and coffee filter element. The partition includes a portion thereof adapted to close and open communication between the reservoir and the filter element, and a non-toxic heat responsive sealing substance adapted to releasably seal the partition portion in the closed position until water in the reservoir reaches a temperature for brewing coffee.

  • Patent number: 4946054
Abstract: A cover for a child's pacifier includes a top wall and walls depending therefrom which defines an enclosure for the pacifier and terminate in a common bottom edge. The bottom edge defines an opening to the enclosure allowing insertion of the pacifier and is contoured to fit closely around the periphery of the pacifier shield. At least one retaining flange is separated by spaced slots from the remainder of the depending walls and resiliently flexes outwardly to receive and retain one of variously sized pacifier shields. The flange includes a rounded detent which cams the flange outwardly for snap-in insertion of the shield. The detent holds the shield against supporting stops on the cover interior.

  • Patent number: 4823683
Abstract: A popcorn popper is provided for use in a microwave oven. The popper includes a bowl-like receptacle, and a cover therefor removably mounted on the upper end of the receptacle. Both the receptacle and cover are formed of a material which is transparent to microwave energy. The receptacle is provided with a bottom section and an upright wall section. The bottom section includes an interior first surface area which tapers downwardly and inwardly from a lower portion of the wall section, and an interior second surface area which is spaced inwardly from the wall section. The second surface area has a recessed trough-like configuration with at least one elongated narrow base portion, diverging side walls extending upwardly from opposite side edges of the base portion and at least one inclined end wall which extends upwardly and outwardly from the base portion towards the wall section.

  • Patent number: 4771161
Abstract: An electrically heated tool for appyling an anchoring device having a forwardly protruding nose carrying a hot melt adhesive and a rear recess surrounded by a circular rim has a housing having a head portion and a handle. The head portion has a planar front wall provided with a front recess dimensioned to receive the anchoring device. An electric heater in the head portion has a platen, dimensioned to extend into the rear recess of the anchoring device, protruding into the front recess. The dimensions of the front recess and platen are such that the nose of an anchoring device received in the front recess with the platen extending into the rear recess of the device and in contact with the rear of the nose thereof protrudes slightly forwardly beyond the plane of the front wall so that the nose of the device can be firmly pressed against a surface to obtain secure bonding of the device after the heater has been energized to melt the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4488460
Abstract: An improved ergonomic handle for a hand tool or other implement has a substantially elliptical cross-section taken in a first plane which forms a dihedral angle of approximately thirty (30) degrees with respect to a second plane which is normal to the longitudinal axis of the shank of the tool. The length of the minor axis of the elliptical cross-section is approximately sixty percent (60%) of the length of the major axis. The longitudinal axis of the shank passes through the elliptical cross-section and through the line formed by the intersection of the first and second planes. The handle is formed substantially as a revolution of the elliptical cross-section about its major axis. As a result, the handle is well balanced and accommodates a variety of hand grips for various uses or orientations of the tool, and the handle is convenient and comfortable for substantially reducing operator fatigue over extended use of the tool. This is especially advantageous in connection with a hand ratchet tool.
