  • Publication number: 20110142011
Abstract: A method (400) and arrangement (200) for mitigation of intercell and intracell interference in a 3GPP cellular communication system (100) by, in a receiver in a cell of the system, deriving for a first channel in the cell a signal, representative of first channel transfer function (A(1)); deriving for at least a second channel originating in a different cell a signal (A(2 . . . M)), representative of second channel transfer function, based on: deriving a cell specific scrambling code (s), deriving a channel impulse response (h), and deriving a channelisation code (c); and performing multi-user detection using the first and second signals. Where the channelisation code is unknown, a substitute channelisation code is preferably substituted. It will be appreciated that the technique can be applied to both downlink and uplink. This provides the advantage that both intra-cell interference and intercell interference are mitigated.

  • Patent number: 7942046
Abstract: A method of testing a steerable wheel assembly incorporating a shock absorber strut, comprising providing a combined linear and rotary actuator, engaging a lower end of the assembly with the actuator so that the line of linear action of the actuator is aligned with the line of compression of the strut, operating the actuator to compress the strut, and operating the actuator in a rotary sense to apply a steering torque to the assembly. A linear actuator is engageable with the assembly via a load coupling to load the strut. The load coupling comprising a first part on the actuator adapted to engage a second part on the assembly, the two parts being adapted to provide a self-aligning action as the actuator engages the assembly. Preferably, one of the two parts comprises a tapered recess formation, and the other two parts comprises a tapered projecting formation engageable in the tapered recess formation.

  • Patent number: 7890113
Abstract: A method, NodeB (320) and User Equipment (330) for TDD operation in a communication system operating in TDD mode in a frequency band allocated for FDD operation. Preferably, operation is in TDD uplink and downlink mode in a first frequency band designated or normally used for FDD uplink communication, and in TDD downlink-only mode in a second frequency band designated or normally used for FDD downlink communication. The invention provides the following advantages: Provides a flexible method to deploy a time division duplex architecture in frequency division duplex spectrum. Allows flexible use of system capacity by adjusting the uplink and downlink capacity split. Removes previous FDD duplex restrictions.

  • Publication number: 20100288720
Abstract: A security device (200) for housing a security tag (2008), such a security device being able to be fixably attached to a sealing portion (214) of a bottle (216). The security device can be formed by a two-part injection molding tool. The security device comprises a planar surface (2006) for engaging a security tag and a plurality inwardly protruding portions (212) having planar surfaces which are parallel to the surface the tag is attached to. These protruding portions obstruct access to a security tag mounted to the device. The security device provides a low cost highly visible means for attaching the tag to a bottle.

  • Publication number: 20100293268
Abstract: A method and system for assigning a message to an application instance are disclosed. Message processing times of a currently available application instance and a currently unavailable application instance are measured. An unavailable time of the currently unavailable application instance is approximated based on the estimated message processing time of the currently unavailable application instance. The unavailable time and estimated message processing time of the currently unavailable application instance are added to generate an updated processing time of the currently unavailable application instance. The estimated processing time of the currently available application instance and the updated processing time of the currently unavailable application instance are compared.

  • Publication number: 20100278084
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide for allocating spectrum in a wireless communication system that supports simultaneously at least a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation. Logic is arranged for determining a proportion of spectrum required for the wireless communication unit to operate simultaneously in both the first mode of operation and the second mode of operation. Logic for allocating spectrum allocates a temporary guard band between a first portion of spectrum for the first mode of operation and a second portion of spectrum for the second mode of operation for use whilst the wireless communication unit operates simultaneously in the first mode of operation and second mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 7792179
Abstract: An efficient scheme for CDMA coding constructs codes by generating longer code sequences (430) via concatenation, from an existing set of short sequences (410, 420). The sequences may be spreading, scrambling and or training or channel estimation (such as midamble) sequences. The invention allows extension of sequences without performing an exhaustive search for sequences with optimal desired properties, as well as extension of the sequence duration to improve the detection of wanted signals via the use of a conventional matched filter, a multi-user detector or an adaptive filter/equaliser.

  • Publication number: 20100215014
Abstract: Aspects of the invention include a root node of a wireless communication infrastructure that buffers data packets for transmission by base stations over an air interface. The root node determines a time delay for transmission of a data packet from the root node to each base station, a maximum time delay of those time delays, and a timing latency based upon the maximum time delay. The root node transmits the timing latency to the base stations. In response, each base station initiates transmission of data packets received by the root node after expiration of the timing latency. Alternatively, the root node, instead of the base stations, may buffer the data packets, and transmit them so that they arrive at the base stations at substantially the same time.

  • Patent number: 7757909
Abstract: A garment hanger for lingerie. The hanger includes a hook, an elongate body suspended below the hook and engaging members at the ends of the body. Each engaging member includes a one first leg flexibly connected at one end to the body and at the other end to a second leg. As a result the two legs and the body form an S-shape that acts as a spring to maintain tension in front display portion of the garment hung on the hanger. The engaging member also ensures that any excess material of the garment not forming part of the display portion is held out of view at the back.

  • Publication number: 20100154397
Abstract: Exhaust gas systems and methods are disclosed. A system includes an extensible duct assembly to communicate an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine to an exhaust gas receiver. An angularly positionable ball joint assembly may be coupled to the duct assembly to fluidly and sealably couple the duct assembly to at least one of the outlet and the exhaust receiver. A method of installing an exhaust gas system includes presenting a first portion of the exhaust gas system to one of an exhaust gas outlet and an exhaust gas receiver, and positioning a second portion of the exhaust gas system relative to the other of the exhaust gas outlet and the exhaust gas receiver. The first portion and the second portion may be adjusted to achieve an alignment, and the first portion and the second portion may be sealably coupled to fixedly retain the alignment.
