  • Publication number: 20090031508
Abstract: Separate covers for protruding portions of discs of automatic swimming pool cleaners are addressed. The covers may be placed onto protrusions, such as fins, and removed from the fins as needed. Version of the covers are made of material more rigid and having lower coefficient of friction than the fins to discourage lateral bending of the fins and decrease frictional contact of the fins with pool surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20090031699
Abstract: A method of controlling a machine drive having a driveline PTO establishes a driveline torque perturbation via conversion of internal inertia through two transmission neutral conditions. In an example, when a request is received, e.g., from an operator, to shift the driveline PTO from a first mode to a second mode, the transmission is automatically modulated between its first neutral condition and its second neutral condition while the driveline PTO is shifted from the first mode to the second mode, thus minimizing torque lock and facilitating mode changes.

  • Publication number: 20080256727
Abstract: Discs having recessed areas, or pockets, in their undersides are detailed. The pockets allow provision of increased suction in localized regions, especially useful when the body of an associated cleaner pivots from side to side. Downwardly-extending wear surfaces may be present as well within the pockets.

  • Publication number: 20080251143
Abstract: Flexible valves principally (although not necessarily exclusively) for automatic swimming pool cleaners are addressed. The valves have generally parabolic closure regions and do not present linear transverse cross-sections to water flowing through them. The closure regions may extend substantially below the transverse center lines of the valves, which additionally may include teeth at or near hinges of the closure regions. Including the hinges reduces likelihood of undesired wear at or near the outlets of the valves.

  • Patent number: 7403840
Abstract: An irrigation control system and method for controlling irrigation based on weather data. Weather data such as wind, temperature, solar radiation, humidity, and rainfall, may be collected at one or more weather stations for a region. The weather data may be compiled on a computer and transmitted to a paging broadcast service. The weather data may then be transmitted by the paging broadcast service to controller interfaces associated with irrigation systems throughout the region. The controller interfaces may adjust irrigation controllers associated with the irrigation systems based on the weather data such that the proper amount of water is applied. This allows the water to be used more efficiently and the health of the landscape to be improved.

  • Patent number: 7395571
Abstract: A pressure type pool cleaner includes a head propelled forwardly over a surface. Different portions of water pumped to the head inducts debris into a cleaner system, and is ejected via a thrust nozzle onto a deflector and thence along a thrust line to thrust the head along the line. The deflector is pivotal via a saddle about a longitudinal axis such as to be displaced laterally relative to the thrust nozzle. The deflector includes obliquely opposed deflection surfaces which are respectively aligned with the nozzle in dependence on its relatively laterally displaced position to deflect the water ejected along the line to respectively different oblique directions to adjust the direction of thrust and to effect lateral steering.

  • Patent number: 7383581
Abstract: A computer file may be scanned for suspicious words 18 occurring within suspicious contexts 20. Thus, messages embedded by malware authors within their malware may be detected. The detection of such embedded messages may be used to identify otherwise unknown items of malware or as a pre-filtering technique for controlling the use of further scanning techniques.

  • Publication number: 20080126324
Abstract: A method to debug a user command that failed to execute on a computing device may include forming a syntactically valid built-up command. The method may also include comparing the user command to the built-up command and analyzing the user command holistically.

  • Publication number: 20080120827
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a differential pH probe body by forming a plurality of tube shaped segments where each of the plurality of tube shaped segments comprises a first section formed from a pH sensitive material and a second section formed from a non-pH sensitive material. Coupling the plurality of tube shaped segments together end-to-end to form the differential pH probe body where the pH sensitive sections alternate with the non-pH sensitive sections and then closing one end of the differential pH probe body.

  • Publication number: 20080092601
Abstract: An open-loop ozone washing system for safely washing with high levels of ozone is shown and described. In one embodiment, the system includes at least one washer having a drain in fluid communication with a sewer. The system also includes an ozone source, which is preferably an ozone generator. The system also includes an off-gas control system operably connected to at least one washer. Using such a configuration, the washer can safely wash with a liquid wash bath having about 2 ppm to about 20 ppm ozone. The present invention also includes kits and methods for converting traditional washing machines to open-loop ozone washing machines.

  • Publication number: 20080081138
Abstract: A facing laminate for insulation products includes: a foil or metallized polymeric film sheet layer forming an inner layer of the laminate that is adapted be bonded directly to a surface of an insulation product; a paper composite sheet layer, which may include synthetic and/or inorganic fibers, forming an outer exposed layer of the laminate; and a scrim intermediate and bonded to the foil or metallized polymeric film sheet and paper composite sheet layers. The facing laminate may include a humectant and/or a water, oil, and/or grease repellant component. The paper composite sheet layer of the laminate exhibits greater dimensional stability and reduced wrinkling when the laminate is exposed to conditions of high humidity. Insulation products to be faced with this facing laminate include pipe insulation, duct board, duct wrap insulation, metal building insulation, and other building insulation products.

  • Publication number: 20080053825
Abstract: A differential pH probe design uses a container having an outer surface and an inner volume, where the inner volume is divided into a first, a second, and a third chamber. A first pH-sensitive area is located on the outer surface of the first chamber where the first pH-sensitive area is configured to be exposed to a sample. A second pH-sensitive area is located on the outer surface of the second chamber where the second pH-sensitive area is shielded from the sample and is exposed to a first buffer solution. A third pH-sensitive area is located on the outer surface of the third chamber where the third pH-sensitive area is shielded from the sample and is exposed to a second buffer. A first electrode is configured to detect a first voltage across the first pH-sensitive area, a second electrode is configured to detect a second voltage across the second pH-sensitive area and a third electrode is configured to detect a third voltage across the third pH-sensitive area.
