  • Publication number: 20140269734
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method and system is provided to determine and advertise a route advertisement in a reactive routing environment. In response to receiving a network address query with respect to a destination address at a routing device, an aggregate value, e.g. an address prefix, is determined and advertised in reply to the network address query. Determining of the aggregate value may comprise identifying within a range of network addresses represented by the aggregate value respective addresses for which the routing device does not have reachability information. The routing device may send address queries with respect to the identified addresses, to determine reachability via the routing device of those addresses. The aggregate value may be advertised conditional upon determining that a percentage of addresses within the corresponding range that can be reached via the routing device satisfies a predefined minimal coverage value.

  • Patent number: 8671453
Abstract: A social networking system obtains parental authorization from a parent for a child to access a computing resource, where the parent and the child are users of the social networking system. The child user may request the authorization by identifying a purported parent user. The social networking system attempts to verify the validity of the purported parent user's account, the age of the user associated with the purported parent's account, and/or the existence of a parent-child relationship between users of the accounts associated with the purported parent and the child. The social networking system makes these determinations, at least in part, using social and transactional information associated with the purported parent user's account and the child user's account in the social networking system. Upon verification of these items, the social networking system may allow the purported parent to provide authorization responsive to the child's request to access the computing resource.

  • Patent number: 8391708
Abstract: Provided herein is a novel approach to simultaneous fiber presence detection and improved laser eye safety of an optical transceiver. The subject optical transceiver is fitted with at least one switch in its receptacle that controls the laser diode and indicates the presence of a fiber (or fibers) within such a receptacle. If a fiber is present within the subject module receptacle, the laser switch is permitted to be “on”, whereas the absence of a fiber will prevent the laser switch from turning on, thereby permitting effective control of the laser at a single point of failure within the entire optical transceiver system. The typical optical transceivers of today exhibit limited optical power output due to eye safety limit criteria.

  • Patent number: 8285722
Abstract: An internet browsing gateway is utilized to locate mobile web content and improve search capabilities for wireless devices. Mobile browsing data is logged as web pages are requested from and returned to wireless devices associated with the same wireless network. An index server continually updates search indexes in real time as users request searches and search results are returned. As a result, the mobile content that is discovered becomes more relevant for users of the same wireless network or mobile carrier. In other words, the search results are more localized in accordance with the location of the wireless network that services the mobile users within a specific geographic region. When a web search is requested from a wireless device, the index server queries the search indexes. The search results are ranked using a search algorithm that incorporates the browsing data to improve the accuracy and relevance of searches.
