  • Patent number: 7953535
Abstract: A method of controlling a machine drive having a driveline PTO establishes a driveline torque perturbation via conversion of internal inertia through two transmission neutral conditions. In an example, when a request is received, e.g., from an operator, to shift the driveline PTO from a first mode to a second mode, the transmission is automatically modulated between its first neutral condition and its second neutral condition while the driveline PTO is shifted from the first mode to the second mode, thus minimizing torque lock and facilitating mode changes.

  • Publication number: 20110071603
Abstract: The therapy device enables the automatic application of customized and well controlled contrast therapy to localized areas of human and animal bodies. An electronic control circuit is used in conjunction with heat dissipating and heat absorbing surfaces to control the operation of a thermoelectric cooling module (TEC) to enable the administering of localized contrast therapy on human and animal bodies. The use of temperature sensors, timing circuits, and microprocessors in connection with the TEC and heat absorbing and dissipating surfaces allows precise control of the applied temperature and the time duration for cooling and heating cycles. The device is programmable and is capable of automatic cycling between desired heating and cooling temperatures for variable lengths of time.

  • Publication number: 20100313363
Abstract: Devices for cleaning vessels, especially swimming pools, are discussed. The devices may include repositionable in-line valves, with the valves typically moving laterally (from side to side) and changing the initial direction of the main fluid-flow path through the valves and corresponding cleaner bodies. Asymmetric feet may be utilized as part of the devices, whose bottom bearing surfaces may include elongated strips of material placed parallel to the normally-forward direction of travel of the devices. Discs of non-uniform flexibility also may be employed, and blocking tabs or gripping material may be used to inhibit undesired backward movement of a cleaner when its operation commences.

  • Patent number: 7830296
Abstract: A communications module includes an interior configuration designed to intercept, disrupt, and scatter EMI produced by the module during operation. The interior configuration may include an anechoic structure that includes a plurality of anechoic elements positioned proximate EMI-producing components within the module. The anechoic elements may form truncated pyramids, columns having rounded tops, cones, or other shapes. The anechoic elements may be uniform or non-uniform in size, length, or shape and can be arranged in a periodic, non-periodic, or random pattern. In some embodiments, the anechoic elements may include cast zinc metal, Nickel, and/or radiation absorbent material, such as a mixture of iron and carbon. In operation, EMI impinging on the anechoic elements is scattered by their surfaces until absorbed by the elements or other structures of the module, thereby preventing the EMI from exiting the module.

  • Publication number: 20100138423
Abstract: An internet browsing gateway is utilized to locate mobile web content and improve search capabilities for wireless devices. Mobile browsing data is logged as web pages are requested from and returned to wireless devices associated with the same wireless network. An index server continually updates search indexes in real time as users request searches and search results are returned. As a result, the mobile content that is discovered becomes more relevant for users of the same wireless network or mobile carrier. In other words, the search results are more localized in accordance with the location of the wireless network that services the mobile users within a specific geographic region. When a web search is requested from a wireless device, the index server queries the search indexes. The search results are ranked using a search algorithm that incorporates the browsing data to improve the accuracy and relevance of searches.

  • Patent number: 7721725
Abstract: A method and apparatus for heating golf balls or golf ball components is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing that includes a back panel comprising a plurality of slots. The slots are preferably formed such that they are parallel to a plurality of trays of golf balls. The housing also includes a front panel that includes a plurality of openings that are substantially perpendicular to the trays of golf balls. The size of each of the plurality of openings may be varied based on a plurality of adjustable panels. Each of the adjustable panels may be capable of completely sealing an opening or being displaced to completely prevent obstruction of the opening. Heated air is preferably supplied via an air supply plenum that is capable of supplying air in a direction that is perpendicular to the back panel. The method and apparatus allow the interior of the housing to maintain a desired temperature differential and allow the rate of air flow to be manipulated.

  • Patent number: 7715934
Abstract: An input profile is generated from an input audio file using a measurable attribute that was also used to generate reference profiles from reference audio files. The input profile is then subjected to a process that was also used to generate a reference profiles tree, which is structured as a sparse binary tree, from the reference profiles. As a result of the process, information of reference profiles having similar characteristics as the input profile, with respect to the measurable attribute, are retrieved from resulting nodes of the reference profiles tree. The input profile is then compared with this subset of the reference profiles, representing potential matches, to determine that either it matches one of the reference profiles, or that it is a spoof, or that it does not match any of the reference profiles.

  • Publication number: 20090326723
Abstract: An irrigation control system and method for controlling irrigation based on weather data. Weather data such as wind, temperature, solar radiation, humidity, and rainfall, may be collected at one or more weather stations for a region. The weather data may be compiled on a computer and transmitted to a paging broadcast service. The weather data may then be transmitted by the paging broadcast service to controller interfaces associated with irrigation systems throughout the region. The controller interfaces may adjust irrigation controllers associated with the irrigation systems based on the weather data such that the proper amount of water is applied. This allows the water to be used more efficiently and the health of the landscape to be improved.

  • Patent number: 7618019
Abstract: Devices for cleaning vessels, especially swimming pools, are discussed. The devices may include a non-linear flow path in a gap surrounding an in-line valve. This non-linearity permits lengths of concentric pipes forming the gap to be decreased without sacrificing operational performance of the devices. Valves forming parts of the cleaning devices may be diaphragms but shaped, sized, reinforced, or configured differently than existing valves and may have collapsible segments whose interior shape resembles an ellipse in transverse cross-section. Co-molding of diaphragms and pipes may occur, and inner and outer cups may be used to fix relative positions of various components of the devices.

  • Patent number: 7555191
Abstract: This invention relates to novel latching mechanisms for a pluggable assembly or module that comprises a communications interface between a computer processing unit and the housing of an optical transceiver (such as a XENPAK module). Such connections require multiple flexible spring configurations to ground the module housing to the CPU circuit board. Such flexible spring configurations must exhibit sufficient strength to allow for flexion upon introduction of the housing within a slot within a CPU, yet sufficient force as well to reliably maintain contact of the conductive springs on the optical transceiver to a grounding strip on the CPU circuit board. Furthermore, the springs themselves must release upon application of sufficient force as the user slides the transceiver housing from the CPU slot as well.

  • Publication number: 20090141651
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a method is provided. In this method, a network address query is received. A first network address of a known apparatus is retrieved from a routing table, in response to the network address query. A second network address may be determined based upon the network address query, the second network address having a smaller bit length than the first network address. An aggregate value may be advertised that represents a range of reachable network addresses, the range of reachable network addresses including the second network address.

  • Patent number: 7540052
Abstract: A pressure type pool cleaner includes a head propelled forwardly over a surface. Water pumped to the head drives wheels turbine fashion; inducts debris into a cleaner system; and is ejected via a thrust nozzle onto a guide and thence along a thrust line to thrust the head along the line. A pivoted director mounts the guide and includes a surface member exposed to the water. During forward movement, water pressure on the member counteracts jet stream pressure on the guide and maintains the guide's orientation for the thrust line to pass closely above a wheel rotation axis. When an obstacle stops forward motion, pressure on the member and its counteracting stop, the guide is reoriented and redirects the thrust to well below the axis to pivot the head about the axis to assist the wheels to scale the obstacle.
