  • Publication number: 20170293567
Abstract: An apparatus comprises processing circuitry to process data access operations specifying a virtual address of data to be loaded from or stored to a data store, and proxy identifier determining circuitry to determine a proxy identifier for a data access operation to be processed by the data access circuitry, the proxy identifier having fewer bits than a physical address corresponding to the virtual address specified by the data access operation. The processing circuitry comprises at least one buffer to buffer information (including the proxy identifier) associated with one or more pending data access operations awaiting processing. Address translation circuitry determines the physical address corresponding to the virtual address specified for a data access operation after that data access operation has progressed beyond said at least one buffer.

  • Publication number: 20170293662
Abstract: A query of spatial data is received by a database comprising a columnar data store storing data in a column-oriented structure. Thereafter, a minimal bounding rectangle associated with the query is identified using a grid order scanning technique. The spatial data set corresponding to the received query is then mapped to physical storage in the database using the identified minimal bounding rectangle so that the spatial data set can be retrieved. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

  • Publication number: 20170264991
Abstract: Wireless earphones or headphones include a control unit having a housing which contains electronic circuitry, and exposed push button switches mounted on the housing. The control unit has a pivotable and foldable male connector plug in the form of a micro or mini USB connector. The plug may be pivoted outwardly, away from the control unit, and unfolded to conform to the shape of a standard micro or mini USB plug. The advantage of such a design is that there are no extra cables required for charging internal battery of the earphones or headphones. Rather, the male connector of the control unit, which is exposed when pivoted away from the control unit and useable when unfolded, may be plugged directly into a laptop computer or other source of power having a compatible micro or mini USB female connector, without the need for a cable extending between the two devices.

  • Publication number: 20170177700
Abstract: An update to a partitioning column for a partitioned table in a database can be performed by handling rows for which the update will not require moving to a different partition separately (e.g. “locally”) for each partition followed by re-inserting those rows that will require moving to a different partition and deleting them from the original partition. The re-inserted rows are directed to a correct partition by application of the partitioning criteria for the table. Methods, articles, and systems are described.

  • Patent number: 9654136
Abstract: Embodiments relate to an improved segmented resistor digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with resistor recycling. An input digital code word is segmented into M most-significant-bits (MSBs) and N least-significant-bits (LSBs). The DAC includes a MSB resistor ladder coupled with a first set of switches and a LSB resistor ladder coupled with a second set of switches. Based on the decoded bit pattern of the LSBs, embodiments are operable to either switch one or more LSB resistors from the bottom of the MSB resistor ladder up to the top, or to switch the LSB resistors from the top of the MSB resistor ladder down to the bottom. In at least one example embodiment, this technique can avoid redundant resistors in the circuit, which can solve mismatch problems due to redundant resistors in the circuit as in prior art solutions, which can lead to problems relating to non-linearity and non-monotonicity.

  • Patent number: 9613055
Abstract: A query of spatial data is received by a database comprising a columnar data store storing data in a column-oriented structure. Thereafter, a minimal bounding rectangle associated with the query is identified using a tree-order scanning technique. A spatial data set that corresponds to the received query is then mapped to the physical storage in the database using the identified minimal bounding rectangle. Next, the spatial data set is then retrieved. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

  • Publication number: 20170091097
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a translation lookaside buffer (TLB) comprising TLB entries for storing address translation data for translating virtual addresses to physical addresses. Hazard checking circuitry detects a hazard condition when two data access transactions correspond to the same physical address. The hazard checking circuitry includes a TLB entry identifier comparator to compare TLB entry identifiers identifying the TLB entries corresponding to the two data access transactions. The hazard condition is detected in dependence on whether the TLB entry identifiers match.

  • Publication number: 20170083538
Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for performing database processing after a lock condition. An embodiment operates by receiving a release of a lock on data of a database. It is determined whether the data was modified by a processing of a first transaction associated with the first request. The lock is provided to a second transaction associated with a second request to access the data. If the first transaction did not modify the data, a second transaction associated with the second request is retried without refreshing a snapshot of the data. If the first transaction modified the data, the snapshot of the data is refreshed before the second transaction is retried.
