Abstract: There is disclose apparatus and a method of de-fragmenting file allocations on a disk comprising: determining what pages should be swapped among the various allocations made by the operating system (OS), the OS's file system mapping updated to reflect the swapped pages and a history of the original state prior to any update recorded by the engine, the swaps performed by manipulation of the engine's data structures and/or actually exchanging data on disk where OS visible data is read and written but the original state of each altered page is not directly recorded in the historic log, but instead, a record is additionally logged of the locations of the swapped data so that an image of the OS visible data can be reconstructed prior to time of the de-fragmentation by knowing what data to effectively re-swap and what OS mapping data to effectively restore.

Abstract: When a user retrieves a web page from a network and it is determined that the web page can be accessed from the network with a resource location request including a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) having one or more URI components, one or more domain names can be generated from at least one of a one or more URI components and at least a portion of the web page, and the user can be provided a copy of the web page from the network along with the ability to determine whether at least one domain name of said one or more domain names is available for registration.

Abstract: Abstract of the Disclosure For each word, a spell check program may determine whether the spelling is correct. If the spelling is correct and an EOF has not been reached, then the next word may be parsed from the current data file. When the spelling is not correct, then it may further be determined whether the word includes a HLD. When it is determined that the word is not a HLD, then a user is prompted to correct the spelling. When it is determined that the word includes a HLD then it may be determined whether the word is to be linked. If the word is to be converted into a link then a hyperlink reference is generated from the word and steps are repeated until an EOF is reached or the next word includes a HLD.

Abstract: When it is determined that a resource corresponding to the identifier is accessible, the resource may then be accessed. When the resource is not accessible, then it may be determined whether an expected date/time range indicating when identifier may exist can be retrieved. When a date/time range cannot be retrieved, then it may be determined whether an expected date/time range may be generated from the identifier. If so, then a date/time range for the identifier may be generated. When the date/time range cannot be generated, then at least a start time may be provided to determine existence of a resource corresponding to the identifier. When a date/time range is retrieved, generated, or provided then a delay interval to check for existence of a resource corresponding to the identifier may be determined. It may then be determined whether to determine whether there a resource corresponding to the identifier may exist.

Abstract: A device, network access apparatus, servlet, applet, stand alone executable program having a text box object, or web browser receives a selected identifier and determines whether the selected identifier of a first naming system is available. A prompt may be displayed for a user to determine whether the available identifier is to be allocated. When there is no allocation of the selected identifier or when a selected identifier is not available, a user may be prompted to search for the availability of another identifier of the first naming system. When the selected identifier is allocated, the availability of an identifier in a second naming system that is similar or identical to the allocated identifier of the first naming system may be searched. When it is determined that a matching identifier in a second naming system is found, then it is further determined whether the matching identifier is to be registered at this time. If this is the case, then the identifier of the second naming system may be registered.

Abstract: An input request may be processed by a device such as a network access apparatus, servlet, applet, stand-alone executable program, or a user interface element such as a microphone, text box object or location field of a web browser. When such an input request is determined to include a valid domain name, it may then be determined whether to perform a search request with the input as a literal string. A search request may be initiated by selecting an exact phrase option from a listbox or by surrounding the input with a delimiter such as the quote sign (e.g., “example.com”) to process the detected domain name as a literal string, otherwise a domain name detected from input may be processed as a registration and/or resolution request. When it is determined that the input is instead processed as a resolution and/or registration request, then the resolvability and/or availability of the domain name may be determined.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for matching the gloss level of a printed region of a media substrate surface to the gloss level of a non-printed region of the media substrate surface are provided. Optical reflection intensities are measured in both printed and non-printed regions of the media substrate surface and read by a gloss sensing device which communicates the intensities to a printer controller. The printer controller compares the reflection intensities for the two regions to determine if they are substantially equivalent. If they are not substantially equivalent, the printer controller instructs alterations in printing parameters, e.g., temperature and/or pressure of fuser rollers, in an effort to establish equivalence.

Abstract: When a first data request having a first identifier and a first request type is received, it may be determined whether the first data request can be processed. The first data request may be processed upon determining that the first data request can be processed. The correspondence between identifiers and request types may be one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, or many-to-many relationship. When the first data request can not be processed, a response type having a response method may be selected that may generate a second identifier and/or select a second request type. A second request type may correspond to the first identifier and the second identifier may correspond to the first request type. When a response type is selected, a second data request corresponding to the selected response type may be generated. The second data request may then be processed.

Abstract: When at a first time, a non-monetary principal corresponding to a second time is received from one of a input, first data record, computer readable medium, machine readable code, internal automation, external automation, activation of a hyperlink, network resource redirection, and user interface element such as one of a browser location field, text box, command line, speech to text interface, optical recognition interface, and magnetic recognition interface, an accrued non-monetary interest can then be calculated from the non-monetary principal, the first time, and the second time.

Abstract: When a network resource request having a domain name is received, it is determined whether the network resource can be located including determining whether the domain name is resolvable. Rather than, or in addition to, displaying an error message or processing a search request in response to determining that a network resource can not be located or of an unresolvable domain name, the domain name can instead be redirected to a registration service where the domain name may automatically be used to perform a registration request and determine domain name availability. When the domain name is not available for registration, domain name registrant information is provided. However, when the domain name is determined available, a registration form is provided.

Abstract: A network access apparatus, servlet, applet, stand-alone executable program, command line of a device such as a phone browser, or user interface element such as a text box object or location field of a web browser, receives and parses a search request. When search results having one or more resource identifiers are generated, it is determined whether at least one network resource corresponding to the one or more resource identifiers can not be located. When it is determined that the at least one network resource corresponding to the one or more resource identifiers can not be located, search results are then modified and provided in response to the search request.

Abstract: A stent delivery system is disclosed that has an outer assembly and an inner assembly that accommodates a stent. The inner assembly further has an external assembly contact area projecting from its surface that frictionally contacts an inner surface of the outer assembly. The contact area is positioned at one end of the inner assembly, proximal to the stent accommodating area. Also disclosed is a method of using the stent delivery system.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reverting a disk drive to an earlier point in time is disclosed. Changes made to the drive are saved in a circular history buffer which includes the old data, the time it was replaced by new data, and the original location of the data. The circular history buffer may also be implemented by saving new data elements into new locations and leaving the old data elements in their original locations. References to the new data elements are mapped to the new location. The disk drive is reverted to an earlier point in time by replacing the new data elements with the original data elements retrieved from the history buffer, or in the case of the other embodiment, reads to the disk are mapped to the old data elements stilled stored in their original locations. The method and apparatus may be implemented as part of an operating system, or as a separate program, or in the controller for the disk drive. The method and apparatus are applicable to other forms of data storage as well.

Abstract: In an on-line financial screening service, a database of financial and intellectual property information is searched to find at least one financial security matching user defined financial search criteria. Selection preferences for a financial security are defined as search criteria. The financial search criteria includes but is not limited to the following: Stock Price, Price/Earnings Ratio, Current Ratio, Debt/Equity Ratio, Cash/Price ratio, Earnings per Share Growth-1 Yr, Earnings per Share Growth-5 Yr, Insider Trades, Institutional Holdings %, Price/Book Ratio, Price/Cash Flow Ratio. The databases are repeatedly searched for records matching the financial selection criteria preferences of the user. Financial securities meeting the users search criteria are then matched to an intellectual property database to determine the number of patents a financial security has been issued.

Abstract: When a message is received and stored in memory, the message may be parsed to determine whether the message is bounced and returned as undeliverable. When the message is not bounced, then the client may display the message for a recipient to read. When it is determined that the message is bounced, then the client program may parse from the message, the e-mail address and/or any contact information of the intended recipient. At least one URI may be generated from the parsed e-mail address and/or any contact information and the received message may be modified to include a hyperlink reference and/or a redirect command such as a <META> tag REFRESH of the generated URI and the modified message may then be displayed.

Abstract: A subscriber device receives notification and it is determined if an icon is to be displayed in response to the received notification. When the icon is to be displayed, the interactivity level or message severity is determined from the context of the received notification and preferences are retrieved from at least one data record corresponding to interactivity level configuration settings. An icon is then generated from the retrieved preferences and it is determined if there is a message associated with the icon from the received notification. If there is no associated message then the icon is displayed. However, when there is an associated message, the message is attached to the generated icon and then displayed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reverting a disk drive to an earlier point in time is disclosed. The circular history buffer may also be implemented by saving new data elements into new locations and leaving the old data elements in their original locations. References to the new data elements are mapped to the new location. The disk drive is reverted to an earlier point in time by replacing the new data elements with the original data elements retrieved from the history buffer, or in the case of the other embodiment, reads to the disk are mapped to the old data elements stilled stored in their original locations. The method and apparatus may be implemented as part of an operating system, or as a separate program, or in the controller for the disk drive. The method and apparatus are applicable to other forms of data storage as well.
