Abstract: A field-sequential color architecture is included in a reflective mode display. The reflective mode display may be a direct-view display such as an interferometric modulator display. The reflective mode display may include three or more different subpixel types, each of which corresponds to a color. Data for each color may be written sequentially to all subpixels of the display. Flashing of a corresponding colored light, e.g., from a front light of the display, may be timed to immediately follow a process of writing data for that color. Colors other than the field color may be used to produce grayscale. The field color may correspond to the most significant bit (MSB) and the other colors may correspond to other bits.

Abstract: Process of colour calibrating an electronic display screen comprising the steps of displaying at least one trial colour of at least one physical sample having standardized colour on an electronic display screen, visually comparing the colour of the at least one physical sample and the at least one trial colour displayed on the electronic display screen, selecting the trial colour having the best visual match with the at least one physical sample, and using the selected trial colour on the electronic display screen having the best visual match with the at least one physical sample colour to colour calibrate the electronic display screen.

In the method, the texture of the paint film is imaged with a digital imaging device, the imaged texture is analyzed using image analysis software, texture data is calculated, and the repair paint is formulated on the basis of the concentrations of paint modules, wherein each paint module is associated to specified texture data and colour data.

Abstract: A method and computer program enable the electronic capture and archiving of portions of printed publications for electronic searching and retrieval via a computer network. Employment-related sections of a plurality of printed publications are scanned to create a master digital image for each publication. Each master image is surveyed by an operator to identify locations of individual articles and advertisements contained in the image. A plurality of specific images are created from each master image, wherein each specific image contains a single article or advertisement. An operator defines a category, subcategory, and geographic location of each specific image, and each image is processed by optical character recognition software to determine text contained in the image. An end user searches the articles and advertisements according to category, subcategory, geographic location, and text, and views each specific image matching the user's search.

The PLU entry device supplies a PLU corresponding to the non-bar coded item selected by the user. A GUI editor may also be provided for configuring the GUI for non-bar coded items. The processing unit may maintain for each item a count of the number of units of the item sold within a predetermined period of time. The processing unit also may maintain a list of most frequently sold items. The image of at least one item on the list is provided on a selected display screen.
