Patent number: 6772817Abstract: An adjustable window blind cord stopper includes a locking guider slidably connected on a lift cord of the window blind assembly by constructing an adjustable knot at a guiding through slot of the locking guider. In which, in an unlocked position that the adjustable knot is normally loosen with respect to the locking guider, the cord stopper is adapted for sliding along the cord in such a manner that when the adjustable knot is positioned above the guiding through slot, the cord stopper is adapted to slide downwardly along the lift cord, and when the adjustable knot is positioned below the guiding through slot, the cord stopper is adapted to slide upwardly along the lift cord. Thereby, the folding or unfolding condition of the slats of the window blind assembly can be locked up by sliding the cord stopper between an upper position and a lower position.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2002Date of Patent: August 10, 2004Assignee: Tony LaiInventors: John Lai, Eric Lai

Patent number: 6759872Abstract: The present invention provides an improved input/output (I/O) circuit that comprises a pair of buffers, a voltage reference circuit that provides first and second reference voltages to the buffers respectively, and a detection circuit. The detection circuit detects whether a supply voltage is below a switching voltage, which is a pre-selected value between operating ranges of two pre-defined supply voltages, e.g., 3.3V and 5V, respectively. If the supply voltage is below the switching voltage, the detection circuit controls the voltage reference circuit to set the first and second reference voltages to first and second predetermined values, e.g., a ground level and the supply voltage, respectively. In this way, the large signal swings of the signals output by the buffers can be substantially maintained. Therefore, high speed operations can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2002Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Eric Lai, Ronald de Vries

Patent number: 6729166Abstract: By providing a shackle holding assembly mounted in controlling engagement with the termination end of the long leg of the shackle, movement of the shackle is controlled and accidental changes to the combination are prevented. Preferably, the shackle holding assembly comprises a rim-bearing holding member mounted to the free end of the elongated leg of the shackle which is engaged with a spring member biased to prevent unwanted axial movement of the shackle. As a result, user force is required to axially move the shackle into the combination re-setting position.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2003Date of Patent: May 4, 2004Assignee: The Sun Lock Company, Ltd.Inventor: Eric Lai

Publication number: 20040031298Abstract: By forming a combination padlock from heavy duty metal throughout with an enlarged, heavy duty locking bar or shackle being employed having a tamper-proof holding cavity for the terminating, locking end of the locking bar, an effective, easily produced, high security padlock is achieved which employs a combination system for fully operating the padlock. In addition, the combination padlock of the present invention incorporates tumbler or clutch wheel constructions which cooperate with the rotating dials to virtually eliminate any possibility that an unauthorized person would be capable of gaining access to the padlock by known combination lock picking techniques by forming each tumbler or clutch wheel with a plurality of radially extending fins formed thereon, with each of the fins being arcuately spaced from the adjacent fin in a non-symmetrical pattern.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2003Publication date: February 19, 2004Inventor: Eric Lai

Patent number: 6595586Abstract: a seating structure provides improved comfort and includes a single, pair, or multiple numbers of moving seating assemblies with independent platforms, especially suited for the automotive or aircraft seating environments. A motion mechanism provides each seating assembly with at least one of total rocking, vertical up and down movement, lateral, and limited slight turning movement and in one embodiment generally constrains the seat members of the seat assemblies from interference with each other. The seating assemblies are provided at a neutral angle that corresponds to the particular application of the seat. Independent up and down movement, and rocking, improves seating comfort health, and safety especially as applied to a seating environment, where a user is likely to be seated for an extended period, such as in an automobile or aircraft.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2002Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: Seat Revolution, Inc.Inventors: Stephen T. Publication number: 20030133514Abstract: An apparatus and method are described for mapping a plurality of multimedia streams (e.g., received from a set of satellite transponders) across a lesser plurality of decoders. In one embodiment, arbitration logic allocates the multimedia streams to divide the decoding load equally among the group of decoders (or at least as equally as possible). Allocation may occur statically, when the system is initialized, or dynamically, as the streams are being processed. In addition, in one embodiment, the arbitration logic monitors the amount of multimedia data for each stream stored in a buffer and causes streams to be serviced by the decoders which have relatively more stored multimedia data.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2001Publication date: July 17, 2003Inventors: Eric Lais, Mark Greenberg, Manish Shah

Patent number: 6490891Abstract: Draw bolt having a housing (14, 50, 70) including a passageway (32) within which a bolt (24, 46, 72) is slidably mounted. A plurality of annuli (18, 54, 78), each of which has an internal slot (40, 58), are aligned in the passageway (32) and are restrained from axial movement. Each annuli (18, 54, 78) has a plurality of symbols on an external surface to indicate the position of the slot (40, 58). The alignment of the slot (40, 58) and symbols is adjustable by relative movement of a body (36, 56, 90) including the slot (40, 58) and an element (34, 60, 88) bearing the symbols. The bolt (24, 46, 72) includes at least one radially extending spigot (26, 86). Movement of the bolt (24, 46, 72) along the passageway (32) is possible only when the or each spigot (26, 86) is aligned with the slots (40, 58) of the annuli (18, 54, 78).Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2000Date of Patent: December 10, 2002Inventors: Robert W. Patent number: 6474116Abstract: By employing the present invention, a combination lock is achieved which provides two separate and independent locking members formed in a single combination lock. Preferably, the combination lock of the present invention incorporates, either independently or in combination with a visual indicator, two separate and independent locking members, such as a shackle and/or flexible cable member. In the preferred construction, the elongated flexible cable member is anchored at one end thereof to the housing of the padlock, with the opposed end being removably lockable to the housing. By employing a portion of the shackle as a locking component for the elongated flexible cable, the rotatable dials associated with the combination lock are employed for locking and unlocking both the shackle and the flexible cable. By achieving a combination lock having this unique, dual locking member, the user is provided with a greater sense of security and enhanced protection.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2000Date of Patent: November 5, 2002Assignee: The Sun Lock Company Ltd.Inventor: Eric Lai
