  • Patent number: 8150033
Abstract: A method of encrypting a set of data is disclosed. The method may include encoding a set of data with a first encryption key, and transforming the set of data encoded with the first encryption key. The method may also include using a second encryption key to encode the transformation of the set of data encoded with the first encryption key. The method may also include transforming the encoded transformation of the set of data encoded with the first encryption key generating thereby and encrypted set of data.

  • Publication number: 20120030606
Abstract: In general, this disclosure describes techniques for selecting alternate keyboard characters via motion input provided by a user. One example method comprises displaying a graphical keyboard via a user interface and receiving, via the user interface, initial user input specifying a selection of a key on the graphical keyboard, wherein the initial user input comprises an initiation of a contact with the user interface. The method further includes displaying alternate characters via the user interface, wherein each alternate character is displayed to indicate at least one corresponding selection direction that is associated with that alternate character, and receiving, via the user interface, additional user input specifying a selection of at least one of the alternate characters, wherein the additional user input comprises motion in the at least one selection direction corresponding to the at least one selected alternate character, and a release of the contact from the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20110142120
Abstract: An apparatus including a first circuit and a second circuit. The first circuit may be configured to determine values for a predefined metric for a plurality of tap positions within a range covered by a decision feedback equalizer (DFE). The values for a number of taps may be determined in parallel. The second circuit may be configured to set one or more floating taps of the DFE to tap positions based upon the values of the predefined metric. The floating taps in the decision feedback equalizer may be selected adaptively.

  • Publication number: 20080058431
Abstract: Described are methods and compositions for regulating body weight and/or regulating the rate of weight gain or loss, and particularly, for treating or preventing obesity. Specifically, methods of administering varying levels of Shp2 modulators to an animal, alone or in combination with body weight regulating agents are disclosed. Methods and compositions for treating a variety of disorders associated with or caused by undesirable body weight are also described. Also described are methods for identifying compounds useful for regulation of body weight and associated conditions. In particular, methods are disclosed for identification of compounds that preferentially modulate binding of Shp2 to leptin receptors. Also described is a genetically modified non-human animal model for studying the peripheral and central pathways of energy homeostasis. Also disclosed are methods of identifying compounds for regulating such pathways.

  • Patent number: 7095540
Abstract: A method of verifying the authenticity of an object is presented. The method comprises providing a primary image; providing a secondary image; encoding the primary image; providing a random code; convolving the encoded primary image with the random code, providing thereby a reference image; affixing the reference image to the object to be authenticated; transforming the reference image; and comparing the transformed reference image with the secondary image. A system for verifying the authenticity of an object is presented. The system comprises a signal source; a first subsystem receiving a first signal from the signal source and providing as output therefrom a first output signal; a second subsystem receiving a second signal from the signal source and providing as output therefrom a second output signal; a third subsystem receiving the first and second output signals for comparing the first output signal with the second output signal.

  • Patent number: 6555239
Abstract: A composition and method is described for providing conformal protective or decorative polymer coatings on metals such as aluminum, copper, iron, steel, zinc, and their by dip autopolymerization. In accordance with the present invention, an acidic solution of organic monomer undergoes autopolymerization upon contact with a metal substrate, thereby forming a polymeric coating on the substrate. The method comprises providing the acidic monomer solution, dipping the metal substrate to be coated for a prescribed period of time depending on the thickness of the coating desired, and then removing the substrate from the solution. Importantly, the polymerization requires no application of external driving force, such as thermal or electrical energy. The coatings thus formed are up to 50 microns thick, and conform to the shape of the substrate. These coatings further have uniform thickness, and thermal stability and protective properties.
