  • Patent number: 6446606
Abstract: A fuel injection system for internal combustion engines, has a distributor tube and a high-pressure pump that is driven as a function of engine rpm and that serves to generate the fuel pressure and throughput required in the distributor tube in the applicable operating state of the engine. The system also includes a fuel metering unit, which is associated with the high-pressure pump and includes a regulating valve which is actuated electromagnetically. The fuel metering unit is disposed in the high-pressure pump, and the outlet of the regulating valve discharges into the low-pressure region of the high-pressure pump. The above design features make a fuel metering unit possible that is capable of metering the exact quantity of fuel desired in the applicable engine operating state to the high-pressure pump of the CR system.

  • Patent number: 6415817
Abstract: A magnet valve for tank venting in motor vehicles, having at least one valve opening forming a sealing seat and having a spring-loaded valve member cooperating with the at least one sealing seat for opening and closing the valve and actuated by an electromagnet counter to the restoring force of a restoring spring. Downstream of the valve member, a flow element that throttles the flow of a gas is disposed, the shape of the flow element is adapted to the opening cross section of the sealing seat that cooperates with the valve member, for determining (metering) the flow quantity of the gas through the cross section of the flow element when the magnet valve is open. The shape of the flow element is determined (metered) in such a way that the area of the opening cross section of the effective valve seat is greater than 2.5 and preferably greater than 9 times the area of the effective cross section of the flow element.

  • Publication number: 20010029934
Abstract: A control unit (50) makes a single control signal available for driving the through-flow control valves (TEV1, TEV2) (51, 52). Through-flow valve (TEV2) has a larger maximum through flow than through-flow control valve (TEV1). A delay circuit is indicated by the phantom outline (52′) and is mounted at the valve stage TEV2 (52). The delay circuit includes an electric delay element (53) with the aid of which the original control signal is delayed in time by an amount &Dgr;t1 relative to the control signal of control valve (TEV1). The resulting delayed signal is supplied to an AND-gate (54) together with the original control signal. Accordingly, a control signal is present at the output of the AND-gate for the control valve (TEV2). The time delay makes possible the exclusive activation of the through-flow control valve (TEV1) (51) at a low pulse duty factors. In this way, a high small quantity meterability is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6148796
Abstract: A switching magnet with which a valve reed of a high-pressure pump is lifted from a seat in order to switch off a pump element of the high-pressure pump. The switching magnet is disposed in a housing that is manufactured as a plastic injection-molded part. An armature that floats in an armature chamber and a brass sleeve are disposed on the inside of the housing and the brass sleeve is turned upside down over a pole piece. The pole piece supports an O-ring, which rests against the inside of the brass sleeve and seals the armature chamber in relation to the outside and in relation to the coil. A second O-ring seals a passage of the tappet in relation to a pump cover of the high-pressure pump. The switching magnet is designated for use in a high-pressure pump of a common rail injection system of an internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6138986
Abstract: A 2/2-way solenoid valve which is open when it is without current and is inserted into a diesel fuel-carrying line to a high-pressure pump. The solenoid valve functions as an emergency shutoff or when the device is tested by supplying the solenoid valve with power which then closes the line to a high-pressure pump, which interrupts the high-pressure delivery. The solenoid valve has an armature, which functions in an armature chamber that is filled with diesel fuel and is sealed in relation to the outside by two O-rings. A plastic valve housing protects the coil and the contacting of the electrical connections from corrosion and protects the individual wires of the coil from vibration stresses. The solenoid valve is designated for use in common rail injection systems of vehicular internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 5992396
Abstract: A tank venting system for motor vehicles, having an internal combustion engine supplied from a fuel tank. A filter housing with an adsorption filter, and an air inlet and an air outlet that can be connected to a venting neck of the fuel tank. An air pump device for error diagnosis, which is integrated with a pump housing that has a pump inlet and a pump outlet. To attain a compact design of the tank venting system that is economical in terms of installation space, the pump housing is mounted with the pump outlet oriented coaxially to the air inlet on the filter housing and secured on the filter housing by means of spring-elastic fastening elements. The transition between the pump outlet and the air inlet is sealed off in airtight fashion.

  • Patent number: 5975064
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation valve having a valve member that cooperates with a valve seat of a connection neck of an exhaust gas recirculation line. The neck protrudes into a tube of the intake system of an internal combustion engine, and the valve seat points toward the inlet side of the exhaust gas recirculation line. A valve member of the exhaust gas recirculation valve is thus acted upon by the exhaust gas pressure in the closing direction, as a supplement to a compression spring counter to an armature of an electromagnet acting in the opening direction. To compensate for the forces acting in the closing direction, the exhaust gas is carried via a conduit in the valve shaft into a control chamber, which is closed off from the pressure in the tube via a movable wall, having an effective surface area that substantially corresponds to the effective surface area of the valve member.
