  • Patent number: 10467212
Abstract: Technologies related to multiple variable coverage memory for database indexing are generally described. Disclosed methods may be performed to implement high-speed database access to digital service provider customer data as the digital service provider builds an optimized index for a database. Initially, the digital service provider may maintain an appropriate level of service by keeping a relatively slow performing, basic index in a relatively high performance first memory. As the digital service provider builds the optimized index, the digital service provider may maintain the appropriate level of service by gradually shifting from use of the first memory to the use of a relatively lower performance second memory.

  • Patent number: 10454897
Abstract: A system for registering an input-limited device, such as a voice-enabled device, with a captive access point that requires completion of a portal webpage prior to allowing client devices access to a network, such as the Internet, is described. Such captive access points are commonly found in hotels, and may be used for both freely provided public WiFi and for connections that require providing payment. For registration, the input-limited device operates as a proxy, relaying communications with the captive access point back-and-forth to a second device with rich user-input capabilities via an independent communications channel. Registration information is provided to the access point as though it originated with the input-limited device, allowing the input-limited device to acquire access to the network.

  • Patent number: 10394750
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for improving the usability of a calendar application. A calendar client agent receives calendar information, such as meetings, appointments, vacations, tasks, etc. from various systems, such as an electronic mail system, a social networking system, an instant messaging system and a wiki. The calendar client agent evaluates the retrieved calendar information with respect to a set of presentation rules. The calendar client agent then presents the retrieved calendar information in a horizontal bar (also referred to as a “calendar bar”) in the calendar application over a duration of time (e.g., twelve hours of the current day) in relation to the set of presentation rules. In this manner, the user will be able to more easily ascertain which events or activities are scheduled.
