  • Publication number: 20080124802
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for labeling specific cells within living cells or tissues. The method comprises preparing the vectors with genes of photoactivable fluorescent proteins, followed by injecting the vectors containing genes of photoactivable fluorescent proteins together with genes of other fluorescent proteins into living cells or tissues, resulting in biological tissues with traceable systemic expression and irradiating the predetermined areas in living cells or tissues with an activating light source, thereby enhancing the intensity and duration of the emitted fluorescent after other excitations, thus revealing the targets intended for observation out of the background, so that a target-oriented image tracing is achieved.

  • Patent number: 7345266
Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical medium judging method for avoiding the collision of an objective lens with a disk or the failure to judge a warped disk when the optical disk drive judging the disk. This method will move the objective lens so as to obtain the data of the laser beam reflection amount of the focusing beam on the plastic layer of the optical disk. By using the reflection amount, the driving circuit will output a rising direct current voltage of a voltage difference to drive an actuator so as to move the objective lens to a proper position capable of judging the disk without colliding with the disk.

  • Publication number: 20060268578
Abstract: An exemplary light guide plate (20) includes a transparent body (21) having a major surface (24) and a light diffusing structure (28) coated or embossed on the major surface of the transparent body. The light diffusing layer makes light beams emitting out from the light guide plate more uniform. Therefore the backlight module does not need a thick light diffusing plate. This means the backlight module is thin, assembly of the backlight module is simplified, and costs are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060146574
Abstract: A backlight module (5) includes a light guide plate (51) and a light source (52). The light guide plate includes a first light incident surface (510), a second light incident surface (512) adjacent the first light incident surface. The first light incident surface and the second light incident surface cooperatively define a first groove (54) therebetween. The light source is disposed in the first groove. With this configuration, there is no need for additional space for the light source beyond an end of the light guide plate. Thus an overall length of the backlight module is shortened. Furthermore, a top end (533) of the reflector can be disposed in a second groove (59) defined between two adjacent side surfaces at the end of the light guide plate. Thus an overall height of the backlight module is shortened. The reduced overall length and height of the backlight module makes it compact.

  • Publication number: 20060083126
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling half-wave layer jumping of a pickup head of an optical disk drive includes a half-wave layer jump controller and an output logic unit. The controller receives a focus error signal from a preamplifier to generate a control signal according to the half wave of the focus error signal. The output logic unit outputs a kickout signal, a half-wave layer jump control compensation, and a brake signal in accordance with the timing of the half-wave layer jump control. The output signal are added to a gap balance signal, and the sum is used for controlling layer jumping of the pickup head. Such method adopts an error obtained by comparing the focus error signal with an ideal cycle signal as an additional compensational force for layer jumping.

  • Publication number: 20050081626
Abstract: A CD drive has a pick-up head for reading data of an optical disc, and a motor for rotating the optical disc. The method first adjusts the rotary speed of the motor so that the vibration frequency of the CD drive is approximately the resonance frequency of a coil of the pick-up head. Then, when the vibration frequency of the CD drive is approximately the resonance frequency of the coil of the pick-up head, the method detects if the voltage of a central error (CE) signal of the CD drive is greater than a threshold voltage. Finally, the method determines if the optical disc is an unbalanced disc according to the comparison result.

  • Patent number: 6122956
Abstract: An on-line sensor for measuring volumetric concentration or percent solids of a slurry flowing in a pipeline includes a section of composite or dielectric pipe connected in the pipeline, with a plurality of sensing electrodes mounted around the periphery of the composite pipe having their inner ends in contact with the slurry flowing therethrough. Preferably the inner ends of the sensor electrodes are flush with the inner pipe wall surface. An electrical signal is applied to a bridge circuit that is connected to successive pairs of sensor electrodes around the periphery of the sensor and the ratios of the local conductivity between adjacent pairs of sensing electrodes to the conductivity between a pair of reference electrodes in contact with the liquid are measured and are used to compute the local slurry concentration between adjacent pairs of sensing electrodes.
