  • Patent number: 7894721
Abstract: An optical network system having a global controller capable of controlling all the elements of the network. The controller receives performance data from each optical network element and calculates a performance value for each channel transmitting through the system. The controller then isolates the channel with the minimum performance value and tests possible changes in network element parameters to find a change which would increase this performance value. Once such a change is found, it is implemented and the system is reoptimized.

  • Publication number: 20100229143
Abstract: A method of generating a hazard-free representation of a logic circuit that can leverage the powerful and mature synchronous-circuit CAD synthesis tools. In a representative embodiment of the method, an initial representation of a specified asynchronous logic circuit is synthesized using one of such CAD tools. The initial representation is then analyzed to identify hazardous transitions and modified, e.g., by iteratively inserting additional logic aimed at preventing the identified hazardous transitions from producing glitches, until a hazard-free representation of the specified asynchronous logic circuit is produced.

  • Patent number: 7779338
Abstract: Pairs of parallel Viterbi decoders use windowed block data for decoding data at rates above 320 Mbps. Memory banks of the deinterleavers feeding the decoders operate such that some are receiving data while others are sending data to the decoders. Parallel input streams to every pair of decoders overlap for several traceback lengths of the decoder causing data input to a first decoder at the end of an input stream to be the same as the data input to a second decoder of the same pair at the beginning of an input stream. Then, the first decoder is able to post-synchronize its path metric with the second decoder and the second decoder is able to pre-synchronize its path metric with the first. Either, the deinterleaver data length is an integer multiple of the traceback length or the data input to only the first block of the first interleaver is padded.

  • Patent number: 7574139
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for implementing carrier suppressed data format on conventional OTDM modules is provided. Adaptive phase shifting of optical signals traversing one of the tributaries of an OTDM module is performed with feedback loop control. A tapped portion of the input carrier signal is phase modulated at a frequency fc, and is combined with a tapped portion of the output from the OTDM. A phase shifter controller fed with this combined signal photodetects and band-pass filters the signal around fc to extract the amplitude of the AC component of the envelope of the combined signal, which depends upon the phase difference between successive pulses of the OTDM output. This signal is used to control a phase shifter coupled along one of the tributaries of the OTDM to adjust the phase difference of the signals of the two tributaries so that carrier suppression results.

  • Publication number: 20090156256
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of dealing with business conflict of a dual-card-dual-standby mobile phone. Calculate the period of the periodic location update of the main card and subordinate card respectively, and reset a new period of the periodic location update. Comparing to the original period of the periodic location update, the new period of the periodic location update is reduced by twice of a time for the mobile phone to do the location update. Thus, when the first location update is delayed due to the terminating call, it still has time for the second location update. Set priority level for each conflicting services, so as to avoid the service conflict, such as the conflict between the originating and terminating call and the location update, and the conflict between the location update of main card and subordinate card.

  • Publication number: 20090156257
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for dealing with the carrier conflict between the main card and subordinate card of a single-chip dual-card-dual-standby mobile phone, which includes a set one set of antenna, RF module and baseband processing chip and further comprises a radio resource adapter layer provided between the RRC layer and the physical layer. The RRC module calculates the position of the carriers of the main card and the subordinate card. The radio resource adapter layer determines the relative position between the carriers of main card and subordinate card so as to determine the type of the conflict, set priority levels to the services of the main card and subordinate card, and process the services according to the priority levels so as to avoid the conflict.

  • Patent number: 7382958
Abstract: An optical instrument for splitting optical spectrum, comprising a series of hollow core optical wave guides (12, 22, and so on) connected by optical couplers (16, 26, and so on) transporting broad band incident optical wave from one stage to another, a narrow band optical wave guide (14, 24, and so on) made of photonic crystal materials mounted inside each of said hollow core optical wave guide and along it, and specified for confining certain portion of the incident optical spectrum. Said inner narrow band optical wave guides bend out at the ends of said outer hollow core optical wave guides to extract and guide out the selected component of the incident optical spectrum. Said optical couplers couple the output optical waves of said outer hollow core wave guides of the previous stages into said inner optical wave guides of the next stages for further splitting.
