  • Patent number: 11688414
Abstract: Techniques for low power gunshot detection are disclosed. Infrared information is collected using a gunshot sensor device. The infrared information is collected using mid-infrared band sensing to provide motion detection. Additional infrared information is buffered using the gunshot sensor device. The additional infrared information is collected using near-infrared band sensing. The buffering is enabled by the motion detection. Acoustic information is collected using the gunshot sensor device. The collecting acoustic information is enabled by the motion detection. A gunshot is detected using the gunshot sensor device. The detecting is based on the additional infrared information and the acoustic information. The detecting includes monitoring the acoustic information to identify a high-intensity gunshot sound and correlating the high-intensity gunshot sound to the infrared information that was buffered.

  • Publication number: 20100054857
Abstract: A secure access port cover system comprises a cover and an access tool. The cover includes a base and one or more lids that are locked and unlocked via manipulation of a mechanical locking system housed within the interior of the base. A relatively small control port in the base provides access to the internal locking system. However, a specially adapted access tool is required to manipulate the internal locking system and move it between its locked and unlocked positions. Correspondingly, the access tool in one or more embodiments is a restricted-use item and not readily available to the public at large. Because the internal locking system can be manipulated only with the access tool, those not in possession of the access tool are unable to unlock the cover's lid(s) and unauthorized access to the underlying manhole or other access port is thereby prevented.

  • Publication number: 20080095565
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved printer and an associated platen support device and method for printing a linerless media. The platen support device, which is adapted for contacting an adhesive surface of a linerless media in a printer, includes support rails disposed proximate a platen roller. The platen roller is configured to rotate so that an outer surface of the roller engages the adhesive surface of the linerless media. The support rails are disposed proximate the ends of the roller and extend in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the platen roller to define a support surface for supporting the linerless media and preventing the media from wrapping around the platen roller.

  • Patent number: 6373906
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for implementing high-speed and area efficient architectures for Viterbi detection of generalized partial response signals including two-way add/compare/select for improved channel speed. The two-way add/compare/select includes a two-way compare for comparing first and second state metric input values and a pair of two-way adds in parallel with the two-way compare for respectively adding the first and second state metric input values with a second input value. The second input value includes a time varying term or a constant term. The time varying terms are expressed as outputs Zn of a partial matched filter or as outputs Wn of a matched filter. A multiplexer is coupled to the pair of two-way adds, the multiplexer receiving a selectable input controlled by the two-way compare. A pair of shifts coupled between the pair of two-way adds and the multiplexer receive a shift control input for providing metric bounding to avoid underflow.
