Patent number: 9371002Abstract: A communication system for a vehicle comprises a mechanism for sensing a braking of the vehicle and a control device for sending a signal to a headlight activation circuit to modulate the vehicle's headlights based upon the braking of the vehicle. In particular, a headlight of the vehicle is able to be modulated based upon an application of one or both of a front brake and a rear brake. The headlight activation circuit is able to modulate the headlight between an on position and an off position or modulate the headlight between a high beam position and a low beam position. Consequently, the vehicle is better seen as it approaches likely congestion areas such as intersections and slowing or stopped traffic and attempts to enter traffic.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2014Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Assignee: Vision Works IP CorporationInventor: Fritz Braunberger

Publication number: 20160070237Abstract: Electrochemical indicators are configured to indicate a variable such as time and/or a temperature excursion. In some embodiments, the electrochemical indicators comprise an anode layer and a cathode layer which contact an electrolyte to activate each indicator. In some embodiments, the electrochemical indicator comprises an electrically isolated RFID chip and an RFID antenna which are placed in electrical communication in response to the external variable. The completed RFID tag may then be read by an RFID reader. A completed RFID tag may also be incorporated within the electrochemical indicators comprising an anode layer and a cathode layer and where the RFID tag is unshielded and becomes readable as the indicator expires.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2015Publication date: March 10, 2016Inventor: Fritz Braunberger

Publication number: 20150187215Abstract: A communication system comprises a pointable range finder to calculate a distance between the vehicle and an object, a recorder for recording a status of the vehicle and a control device. The range finder sends a signal to the control device corresponding to the vehicle's distance from the object and the control device operates the recorder in a manner dependent upon the signal from the range finder. The recorder is able to record the event if the vehicle is an unsafe distance from the object. The unsafe distance is able to be a programmed distance. In some embodiments, the unsafe distance increases with an increase in speed of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the unsafe distance is determined by a programmable constant. In these embodiments, the unsafe distance is determined according to a speed of the vehicle, the vehicle's distance from an object and a pre-defined safe zone threshold value.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2014Publication date: July 2, 2015Inventors: Fritz Braunberger, Beau M. Publication number: 20150081184Abstract: A trailer brake controller and system detects absolute deceleration of a trailer by incorporating an electronic gyroscope/accelerometer combination in order to accurately calculate the deceleration subtracting out the component which is due to the force of gravity. The controller and system also receives and reads information from the towing vehicle's speed sensor. The system detects the deceleration of the trailer and sends a signal to a trailer brake activation circuit based upon an acceleration status of the trailer. In some embodiments, the system detects that the trailer is decelerating and the trailer control device sends a signal to the trailer braking system activation circuit to activate the trailer brakes. Particularly, the system is able to detect that the trailer is decelerating at an unsafe rate and to activate the trailer brakes and slow the trailer to a safe speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2013Publication date: March 19, 2015Applicant: VISION WORKS IP CORPORATIONInventor: Fritz Braunberger

Publication number: 20150062936Abstract: A communication system for a vehicle comprises a mechanism for sensing a change in speed of the vehicle and a control device for sending a signal to a headlight activation circuit to modulate the vehicle's headlights based upon the change in speed. In particular, a headlight of the vehicle is able to be modulated as the vehicle reduces speed and/or is decelerating as it approaches an intersection. Additionally, the headlight of the vehicle is able to be modulated as the vehicle accelerates from a stopped position or reaches a certain traveling speed. The headlight activation circuit is able to modulate the headlight between an on position and an off position or modulate the headlight between a high beam position and a low beam position. Consequently, the vehicle is better seen as it approaches likely congestion areas such as intersections and slowing or stopped traffic and attempts to enter traffic.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2014Publication date: March 5, 2015Applicant: Vision Works IP CorporationInventors: Fritz Braunberger, Beau M. Publication number: 20140064041Abstract: A device and system for indicating the passage of a duration of time and a method of making the same. The timing device is able to be to be more, less or not sensitive to temperature. Additionally, the timing device is able to indicate a level or time of exposure to environmental attributes. The timing device is housed by a sheet body having a scale indicator, a unit indicator, a unit multiplier and a presentation window. As a result, the sheet body enables a user to quickly not only determine if an item has spoiled or a period of time has elapsed, but also how much time is left before spoilage or the time will elapse. The easy to read scale on the sheet body enables accurate judgments to be made on what to do with perishable and other types of items associated with the timing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2013Publication date: March 6, 2014Applicant: Vision Works IP CorporationInventor: Fritz Braunberger
