  • Publication number: 20230018461
Abstract: A cloud service system manages a filter repository including filters for encoding and decoding media content (e.g. text, image, audio, video, etc.). The cloud service system may receive a request from a client device to provide a filter for installation on a node such as an endpoint device (e.g. pipeline node). The request includes information such as a type of bitstream to be processed by the requested filter. The request may further include other information such as hardware configuration and functionality attribute. The cloud service system may access the filter repository that stores the plurality of filters including encoder filters and decoder filters and may select a filter that is configured to process the type of bitstream identified in the request and provide the selected filter to the client device.

  • Publication number: 20220345363
Abstract: A load control system may be commissioned using beacons. The load control system may include control devices that each include a beacon transmitting circuit configured to transmit a beacon that comprises an identifier associated with the control device. A network device, such as a mobile device, may discover a control device based on the beacon received from the control device. In response to discovery of the control device, the control device may be added to a temporary group of control devices for being collectively configured and/or controlled. Control devices may be discovered based on the signal strength at which the beacons are received. The control devices may provide feedback to a user in response to confirmation messages to indicate to a user that the lighting control device has been added to the temporary group. The control devices may stop providing the feedback after they are removed from the temporary group.

  • Publication number: 20220273834
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and devices for the inactivation of pathogens (e.g., bacteria, viruses, etc.) in ex vivo stored blood products, such as plasma and/or platelets, by means of directing visible light radiation from an illuminating device into blood product storage containers in order to achieve effective pathogen inactivation without the presence of an added photosensitising agent in the blood product. An exemplary apparatus includes a control unit that operates a light source that emits light in the wavelength region of about 380-500 nm which is directed onto blood product storage bags at sufficient intensity to penetrate the bag material and the opaque blood product therein in order to inactivate pathogens in the blood product but at dose levels that cause no significant detrimental effects on the blood product.

  • Publication number: 20220228237
Abstract: With the world's rapid advancement of technology, the demand and need for the materials that make up that technology has exploded. An important group of materials needed in this rapid advancement are the rare earth elements (REE) used in countless necessary applications. One source of rare earths found in the United States is bastnaesite, a rare earth bearing fluorocarbonate, mined at the Mountain Pass Mine in California. To increase production, it has been essential to optimize existing processes and create new ones to exploit current reserves. This research program was run to expand the understanding of the bastnaesite leaching system. A novel single stage hydrochloric leach system was created to optimize the rare earth extraction from bastnaesite. Typically, this process has utilized a two-stage leach system involving a high temperature hydrochloric acid leach followed by a caustic crack.

  • Publication number: 20220224934
Abstract: A compression system trains a compression model for an encoder and decoder. In one embodiment, the compression model includes a machine-learned in-loop flow predictor that generates a flow prediction from previously reconstructed frames. The machine-learned flow predictor is coupled to receive a set of previously reconstructed frames and output a flow prediction for a target frame that is an estimation of the flow for the target frame. In particular, since the flow prediction can be generated by the decoder using the set of previously reconstructed frames, the encoder may transmit a flow delta that indicates a difference between the flow prediction and the actual flow for the target frame, instead of transmitting the flow itself. In this manner, the encoder can transmit a significantly smaller number of bits to the receiver, improving computational efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20220224914
Abstract: A compression system trains a machine-learned compression model that includes components for an encoder and decoder. In one embodiment, the compression model is trained to receive parameter information on how a target frame should be encoded with respect to one or more encoding parameters, and encodes the target frame according to the respective values of the encoding parameters for the target frame. In particular, the encoder of the compression model includes at least an encoding system configured to encode a target frame and generate compressed code that can be transmitted by, for example, a sender system to a receiver system. The decoder of the compression model includes a decoding system trained in conjunction with the encoding system. The decoding system is configured to receive the compressed code for the target frame and reconstruct the target frame for the receiver system.
