  • Publication number: 20210033364
Abstract: A firearm with safety mechanism in one embodiment includes a barrel supported by a housing, at least one cartridge-receiving chamber in communication with a bore of the barrel, and a rotatable hammer. The safety mechanism includes a biased safety component, which may be a blocking pin in one embodiment, mounted to and rotatable with the hammer. When the firearm is exposed to an abnormal impact force caused by bumping or dropping the firearm, the safety component changes position and interacts with a blocking feature on the hammer pivot pin to stop or delay the motion of the hammer in a manner which prevents discharging the firearm. The blocking feature may be a notch in one embodiment. Rotating the hammer between rearward cocked and forward firing positions alternatingly aligns or misaligns the blocking pin with the notch, respectively.

  • Patent number: 10815458
Abstract: Compositions and methods of activating dendritic cells with LMP1 and LMP1-activated dendritic cell based compositions and methods are effective for dendritic cell therapy and provide an adjuvant function for vaccine administration. LMP1 or LMP1-CD40 chimeric protein may be used to activate and mature dendritic cells. LMP1 and LMP1-activated dendritic cells act as an adjuvant to enhance the cellular immune response. Also disclosed herein are kits for activating dendritic cells and for preparing a vaccine formulation. Administration of the dendritic cells transfected with LMP1 can induce an immune response against cancer or infection. The mature dendritic cells may comprise an antigen and at least one cytokine in addition to LMP1. Use of LMP1 or LMP1-CD40 provides a way to activate and mature dendritic cells that retain functional and migratory abilities without the side effects that result from maturing the dendritic cells using PGE2.

  • Publication number: 20200255991
Abstract: A fabric comprising a plurality of textile fibres, wherein said plurality of fibres comprises fibres that have been selected from two groups of fibres. The first group of fibres comprises multiple fibres having a first average length, and the second group of fibres comprises multiple fibres having a second average length, the first average length being shorter than the second average length. Further, the fibres of the first group have a first length variance being greater than a second length variance of the fibres of the second group. Thereby, the elongation properties of the fabric is changed in respect of the cross direction of the fabric, whilst maintaining almost unchanged strength in the longitudinal direction at a low basis weight.

Also described are methods of making and using these devices, and controllers for controlling these steerable devices. These steerable devices may have a bendable distal region, a plurality of tendons each attached to the distal bendable region and extending from the distal bendable region to a proximal handle region with a plurality of axial translation regions. The axial translation regions may be arranged along an outer surface of the proximal handle region and each axial translation region may be coupled to a tendon for bending the distal region. The axial translation regions may be elastically connected to each other, and configured to translate the tendon and thereby steer the distal bendable region.

  • Patent number: 10500271
Abstract: The present invention is drawn to compositions and methods to enhance an immune response in order to prevent or treat infections or hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer. More particularly, the composition is an immunostimulatory intracellular signaling peptide fused directly or indirectly to a peptide that leads to multimerization into complexes of three or more units, where the intracellular signaling peptide must be present in a complex of three or more units in order to stimulate an immune response. Inserting this fusion construct into viruses like HIV-1 or introducing it into dendritic cells or tumor cells is predicted to lead to a positive therapeutic effect in humans, non-human mammals, birds, and fish.

  • Patent number: 10479476
Abstract: An aerofoil shaped body includes a plurality of longitudinal spars, an upper aerofoil cover, and a lower aerofoil cover. The spars and the covers are made of composite laminate material. One of the spars is integrally formed with one of the covers to form a spar-cover such that the composite laminate material of the spar extends continuously into the cover through a fold region created between the spar and the cover. The fold region has a fold axis extending substantially in the longitudinal direction, and the fold axis projected onto two orthogonal planes has curvature in both those planes.
