  • Publication number: 20190329860
Abstract: An aerofoil shaped body includes a plurality of longitudinal spars, an upper aerofoil cover, and a lower aerofoil cover. The spars and the covers are made of composite laminate material. One of the spars is integrally formed with one of the covers to form a spar-cover such that the composite laminate material of the spar extends continuously into the cover through a fold region created between the spar and the cover. The fold region has a fold axis extending substantially in the longitudinal direction, and the fold axis projected onto two orthogonal planes has curvature in both those planes.

  • Patent number: 10415166
Abstract: A method to prepare nonwoven webs suitable for use as an industrial wipe which have good MD and CD strength is provided. The method includes hydroentangling an airlaid web of natural cellulose fibers having a fiber length of no more than 3.5 mm, bonding fibers having a fiber length of from 6.0 to 12.0 mm and optionally, manmade fibers having a fiber length of from 6.0 to 12.0 mm. The airlaid web is a homogeneous mat of the natural cellulose fibers, the optional manmade fibers and the bonding fibers and is not laid on a precursor web. No non-fiber adhesive or binder is utilized. The airlayering and hydroentangling are conducted in a continuous operation. The method to manufacture the nonwoven web may include an embossing or crepeing operation.

  • Publication number: 20190153740
Abstract: A passive damper with a cylinder and piston arrangement, the cylinder being arranged to be connected to a first item, the cylinder having a first chamber and a second chamber. The piston arrangement is connected to a second item, the piston arrangement comprising a piston movable in the cylinder. A fluid passage is associated with a one-way valve. Damping fluid substantially freely flows through the fluid passage in a first direction of movement of the piston arrangement in the cylinder and the damping fluid is restricted from flowing through the fluid passage in a second direction of movement of the piston arrangement in the cylinder. Damping fluid relatively freely flows around the piston when the piston is in the second chamber of the cylinder and the damping fluid is restricted from flowing around the piston when the piston is in the first chamber of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 10265394
Abstract: The present invention is drawn to compositions and methods to enhance an immune response in order to prevent or treat infections or hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer. More particularly, the composition is an immunostimulatory intracellular signaling peptide fused directly or indirectly to a peptide that leads to multimerization into complexes of three or more units, where the intracellular signaling peptide must be present in a complex of three or more units in order to stimulate an immune response. Inserting this fusion construct into viruses like HIV-1 or introducing it into dendritic cells or tumor cells is predicted to lead to a positive therapeutic effect in humans, non-human mammals, birds, and fish.

  • Publication number: 20190017024
Abstract: Compositions and methods of activating dendritic cells with LMP1 and LMP1-activated dendritic cell based compositions and methods are effective for dendritic cell therapy and provide an adjuvant function for vaccine administration. LMP1 or LMP1-CD40 chimeric protein may be used to activate and mature dendritic cells. LMP1 and LMP1-activated dendritic cells act as an adjuvant to enhance the cellular immune response. Also disclosed herein are kits for activating dendritic cells and for preparing a vaccine formulation. Administration of the dendritic cells transfected with LMP1 can induce an immune response against cancer or infection. The mature dendritic cells may comprise an antigen and at least one cytokine in addition to LMP1. Use of LMP1 or LMP1-CD40 provides a way to activate and mature dendritic cells that retain functional and migratory abilities without the side effects that result from maturing the dendritic cells using PGE2.

  • Patent number: 10181066
Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for a smart harbor device for intelligent updating and selection for use of transaction processing terminal devices. A smart harbor device may be used to provide updating, servicing, and other maintenance of transaction processing terminal devices, such as EMV terminals used in retail transaction processing. The smart harbor device may include a port where the transaction processing terminal devices may be places, and the smart harbor device may connect to each of the transaction processing terminal devices. Once connected, the smart harbor device may run diagnostics to determine the statuses and conditions for each of the transaction processing terminal devices and maintenance the transaction processing terminal devices. The maintenance may be performed at times where the transaction processing terminal devices are not required for use. Additionally, the smart harbor device may intelligently select one based on statuses and device capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20180215466
Abstract: A machine operates in conjunction with an aircraft, such as a helicopter, for harvesting or removing trees. The device can be powered by the aircraft, by electrical or hydraulic connection with the aircraft, or it may have an independent, self-contained power source. The device includes jaws for grasping a tree, and a saw for cutting the tree. The weight of the device is borne by a strong and flexible cord suspended from the aircraft. Various motors enable the position of the device to be remotely controlled, so as to grasp and remove tree trunks. The invention is especially useful for removing trees from areas which are difficult to reach by land.

  • Publication number: 20180207512
Abstract: A method to implement a blackjack variation includes that, when the dealer is resolving the dealer's hand, if the dealer's point total is a preset total, then the dealer would automatically burn a card in the dealer's hand (such as the last card dealt to the dealer). The preset total can be twenty-one, so that, whenever the dealer's point total (after the dealer is done resolving the dealer's hand) is twenty-one, the dealer would burn a card in the dealer's hand. Thus, the dealer would typically have to draw another card, which could result in a better outcome for the player. (E.g., the dealer could bust or end up with a point total less than twenty-one).
