  • Patent number: 11737021
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses for wireless communication that can be used to establish a restricted target wake time (TWT) session on a wireless medium. In some implementations, an access point (AP) establishes a restricted TWT session for one or more wireless stations (STAs) associated with latency sensitive traffic, the restricted TWT session including restricted TWT service periods (SPs) during which the AP reserves access to the wireless medium for only the one or more STAs associated with the latency sensitive traffic. The AP transmits a clear-to-send (CTS) frame at a start of each restricted TWT SP, the CTS frame indicating to other STAs that the wireless medium is unavailable for a duration of the respective restricted TWT SP. The AP transmits latency sensitive data to or receives latency sensitive data from the one or more STAs during at least one of the restricted TWT SPs.

  • Publication number: 20230199641
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for protecting latency-sensitive communications among multi-link devices (MLDs). An access point (AP) MLD may establish multiple communication links with a non-AP MLD and schedule a restricted target wake time (r-TWT) service period (SP) on one of the links (the “r-TWT link”). In some aspects, when a transmit opportunity (TXOP) acquired on a non-r-TWT link overlaps the r-TWT SP, the TXOP may be extended to support an exchange of latency-sensitive traffic on the non-r-TWT link. In some other aspects, any TXOPs occurring on non-r-TWT links may be terminated prior to the start of the r-TWT SP so that latency-sensitive traffic can be exchanged on the r-TWT link during the SP. An AP MLD also may schedule SPs on multiple communication links. In some aspects, the AP MLD may transfer a TWT agreement between the communication links.

  • Patent number: 11683767
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for synchronizing an end of an exchange of frames during a transmission opportunity (TXOP) with a target synchronization time using a synchronization short inter-frame space (SynSIFS) before a transmission by a wireless communication device that controls the medium. The wireless communication device obtains control of the medium for the TXOP by completing a CCA procedure. An exchange of frames during the TXOP includes transmissions from the wireless communication device and responses from other devices while the wireless communication device controls the medium. A duration of the SynSIFS may be adjustable at a microsecond granularity. Accordingly, the wireless communication device may select a duration of the SynSIFS that allows alignment of the end of the exchange with the target synchronization time. The wireless communication device also may adjust a number of symbols in the transmission from the wireless communication device.

  • Publication number: 20230180047
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods and devices for managing the allocation of resources for uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) transmissions associated with a scheduled time period. In some implementations, a wireless station (STA) transmits, to an access point (AP), a request frame indicating a bandwidth or a quantity of spatial streams (or both) for the UL transmissions, and indicating a bandwidth or a quantity of spatial streams (or both) for the DL transmissions. In some instances, the request frame also may indicate the STA's intention to transmit UL data as duplicates carried on different communication links. The STA receives a trigger frame indicating that the STA is scheduled to transmit or receive data during the time period. The STA transmits data to, or receives data from, one or more other devices during the time period.

  • Publication number: 20230171817
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for priority access on a shared wireless channel. A priority station (STA), an access point (AP), or a network operator may activate a priority access service. The priority access service provides priority access to authorize priority STAs by allowing them to use more aggressive contention parameters for contention-based access of the wireless channel as compared to other STAs. In some implementations, non-priority STAs may be configured with weakened contention parameters to increase or ensure the likelihood that a priority STA will win contention for access to the wireless channel.
