Abstract: The invention relates to novel pyridine derivatives which have a fused 5,6, or 7-membered saturated hydrocarbon ring adjacent to the nitrogen of the pyridine ring, and a group X situated on said hydrocarbon ring and separated by one carbon atom from the pyridine nitrogen atom, said group X is cyano, CONHR.sup.3, CSNHR.sup.3 or CO.sub.2 R.sup.5 wherein R.sup.3 is selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl and lower aralkyl radicals and R.sup.5 is selected from hydrogen, lower alkyl and lower aralkyl radicals which may be substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, nitro or trifluoromethyl; other substituents may be present. Compounds wherein X is CSNHR.sup.3 are anti-ulcer agents and the other compounds are intermediates therefor.

Abstract: The invention provides 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline derivatives which are substituted at the 8-position by the group NHCSNHR.sup.5 where R.sup.5 is lower alkanoyl or aroyl. These compounds are intermediates for corresponding compounds where R.sup.5 is hydrogen, such compounds being anti-ulcer agents.This application is a continuation-in-part of our copending U.S. application Ser. No. 554,259 filed Feb. 28, 1975, now U.S. Pat. No. 3,991,065.

Abstract: Article classifying apparatus comprises means for conveying articles in series to a work station. At the work station means are provided for establishing a machine readable classification code on each article. The apparatus also includes means for varying the speed of the conveying means.

Abstract: A riveting apparatus comprises first and second dies having plane forward end faces for gripping a workpiece over a substantial area round the location to be riveted. The dies have aligned bores which open to said end faces and which are the same as each other in cross section, and a punch and a plunger corresponding to the shape of the bores are slidably mounted in the bores of the first and second dies respectively. A hydraulic piston operates the punch and the forward movement of the punch along the bore of the first die can be terminated by a stop selectively either with the punch and flush with or a predetermined distance short of the end face of the first die. The plunger can be moved hydraulically along its bore toward the punch. In operation of the apparatus, a headless pin is driven through an imperforate workpiece and thereafter each end of the pin is upset while the pin is prevented from moving lengthwise of itself relative to the workpiece.
