  • Patent number: 6716014
Abstract: A melt spinning apparatus for spinning a synthetic yarn, wherein the yarn is formed by combining a plurality of filaments and wound to a package by means of a takeup device downstream of the spinning apparatus. Downstream of the spinneret, an inlet cylinder with a gas-permeable wall and a cooling tube are arranged. The cooling tube connects to a suction device such that an air stream forms in the cooling tube in the direction of the advancing yarn. This air stream assists the advance of the filaments and leads to a delayed cooling. To ensure adequate cooling of the filaments within the cooling zone, an air supply device is provided for generating an additional cooling air stream which flows in the axial direction of the cooling tube for cooling the filaments downstream of the inlet to the cooling tube.

  • Patent number: 6704230
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for reducing data errors in a magneto-resistive random access memory (MRAM). According to the disclosed method, data bits and associated error correction code (ECC) check bits are stored into a storage area. Thereafter, the data bits and ECC check bits are read out and any errors are detected and corrected. A data refresh is then initiated based on a count and data bits and associated ECC check bits stored in the storage area are then refreshed by accessing the stored data bits and the associated ECC check bits, and ultimately by checking, correcting and restoring the data bits and the ECC check bits to the storage area.

  • Publication number: 20030235089
Abstract: An improved memory array having adjacent banks with diagonal bitlines is disclosed. The memory banks include respective memory blocks which are adjacent to each other. The memory blocks comprises diagonal bitlines and twist regions which change the directions of the diagonal bitlines, forming zigzagged sides along the general direction of the bitlines. The bitlines of the adjacent blocks run in the same direction in order to reduce unused area caused by the zigzagged sides of the memory blocks.

  • Publication number: 20030165998
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to investigate the bonding of substances to target molecules. This is achieved by means of a densely packed device wherein various target molecules are bonded in a large number of sample areas. Cross-contamination and evaporation need to be minimized. The active surface of the sample areas have to be maximized. The inventive solution resides in the use of carrier plates, containing densely packed capillary structures and having a very large inner surface despite small outer dimensions. 1000 times more molecules can be bonded than on a flat outer surface of a comparable size. Cross contamination is avoided by the lack of cross links between the capillaries. Evaporation is minimized by a small outer surface. After the inner surface of the capillaries has been silanized, peptides and peptidomimetics are synthesized in a locally targeted manner.
