  • Patent number: 7743584
Abstract: An insulating glazing unit includes a pair of glazing sheets spaced apart with a spacer assembly. The spacer assembly includes an inner spacer member and an outer spacer member that are fabricated in a linear fashion and then folded into a frame. The outer spacer member may be initially formed in a flat configuration, cut to width, and then wrapped around the inner spacer member to form the spacer assembly. The outer spacer member carries the desiccant of the spacer assembly. The outer spacer member may also be gunned directly to the inner spacer member.

  • Patent number: 7743570
Abstract: A method for fabricating muntin grid pieces includes steps that attach an outer muntin grid element to an inner muntin grid element to form a two piece muntin grid piece. The outer muntin grid element surrounds at least three sides of the inner muntin grid element and may be held to the outer muntin grid element without connectors such as adhesive. The outer muntin grid element may be a slit tube that is spread open to be positioned over the inner muntin grid element.

  • Patent number: 7716885
Abstract: A muntin clip supports a muntin grid inside an insulating glazing unit. The clip includes a positioning arm that allows the clip to be positioned with respect to the spacer. In one embodiment, the clip has a flat base adapted to be positioned on the inwardly facing surface of the spacer. The positioning arm extends from one side of the plate with the muntin-engaging body extending from the other side of the plate. The arm has an outer end that projects beyond the outer edge of the plate. A method for using the clip includes the step of using one of the glass sheets to engage and position the positioning arm of the muntin clip. Stops may be provided to limit the insertion of the clip into the spacer.

  • Publication number: 20090301637
Abstract: The glazing unit of the present invention is hermetically sealed with a primary sealant and then sealed with a secondary sealant that may provide structural support to the glazing unit. The primary sealant is applied hot to both the spacer and glazing sheets simultaneously and is applied after the spacer is initially attached to the glazing sheets so that the sealant is not disturbed after it is applied. The sealants are preferably applied with robotic sealing nozzles on an assembly line. In one embodiment, the sealants are consecutively applied by first and second application nozzles that move in concert around the perimeter of the glazing unit.

  • Patent number: 7294046
Abstract: A method for dressing an essentially cylindrical grinding worm on a machine suitable for continuous generation grinding in the diagonal method. The dressing tool is an essentially cylindrical gear wheel, having an abrasive coating on the surface that effects the dressing, which is brought into engagement with the grinding worm to move relative to the grinding worm in axial direction of the same to profile the flanks of the grinding worm. A periodically alternating movement in axial direction of the dressing gear wheel is superimposed on the relative movement of the dressing gear wheel, with the wavelength of the oscillating relative movement being the same or smaller than the usable width of the grinding worm in its axial direction.

  • Patent number: 6868596
Abstract: A method for fabricating muntin grid pieces includes steps that attach a pair of material strips to opposed edges of the muntin bar element. The material strips may be provided in side-by-side strips that may be separated an simultaneously applied to the opposite sides of the muntin bar element. The connection between the material strips and the muntin bar element may be made with an adhesive or a mechanical connection. The method allows the material strips to be connected to the muntin grid pieces before the muntin grid pieces are assembled into a muntin bar grid for a window.

  • Publication number: 20040076815
Abstract: A muntin bar element that is adapted to be connected to at least one interior surface of opposed glass panes includes an insulating cavity. The muntin bar element has a body configuration that prevents the muntin bar element from collapsing when rolled for storage. The muntin bar element may also be attached to both panes of glass and include an accommodating element that allows the height of the muntin bar to adjust as the opposed panes of glass move toward and away from each other. The Application also discloses a spacer having insulating cavities wherein the spacer is fabricated from a foam material having a desiccant.

  • Patent number: 6497610
Abstract: A process for dressing a tool, a honing tool in particular, introduced into a machine for fine machining of the tooth profiles of gear workpieces, with a dressing wheel which is engaged with the tool to be dressed in place of a gear workpiece and is caused to rotate. To achieve optimum cutting conditions the use is provided of a dressing wheel with a helix angle differing from that of the gear workpiece, an axis intersection angle different from that for fine machining of gear workpieces being set for dressing in order to obtain the assigned helix angle of the tool.
