  • Publication number: 20040119420
Abstract: A flat lamp and a method of driving the same are provided. The flat lamp includes a front panel and a rear panel, which are spaced a predetermined distance apart from each other and hermetically sealed, and a spacer, which is provided between the front panel and the rear panel to maintain the front and rear panels separated by the predetermined distance and secure a discharge space. A predetermined discharge gas exists in the discharge space, and a fluorescent layer is formed on an inner surface of at least one of the front and rear panels. In the flat lamp, a plurality of electrode groups, each of which includes at least three electrodes, are provided in the rear panel.

  • Patent number: 6707019
Abstract: A microwave oven is provided which can prolong a lifetime of the oven's lamp by elimination of heat resistant tape fitted to the lighting window, and by optimizing cooling of the lamp. A ventilation structure of the microwave oven includes an air inlet, which also functions as a lighting window, located in one side of the upper surface of the cooking cavity, with the lamp mounted proximate thereto. The ventilation structure includes a ventilation motor and an air duct where the air duct guides cooling air past the lamp and into the cooking space through the air inlet.

  • Publication number: 20030193291
Abstract: A plasma display panel using carbon nanotubes is provided. In the front panel of the plasma display panel, transparent electrodes are formed as strips on the glass substrate. Bus electrodes are each formed as strips along the outer edge on the upper surface of each of the transparent electrodes and in parallel to the transparent electrodes. A dielectric layer is formed on part of the glass substrate, parts of the transparent electrodes, and the bus electrodes. Carbon nanotube strips are aligned on the dielectric layer such that the carbon nanotube strips face the transparent electrodes. A protective layer is formed on part of the dielectric layer and the carbon nanotube strips. Accordingly, the secondary electron emission characteristic is improved, resulting in a high-quality display screen having a high luminous efficiency and a high contrast ratio.

  • Publication number: 20030137237
Abstract: A flat lamp with horizontal facing electrodes is provided, in which a front substrate and a rear substrate are spaced such as to face each other. Walls between the front and rear substrates form a discharging space filled with a discharge gas. A plurality of front electrodes and a plurality of rear electrodes are provided on facing surfaces of the front and rear substrates, respectively. The front and rear electrodes, formed in strips, are arranged in such a way that the front electrodes alternate with the rear electrodes. Accordingly, the discharging distance between front and rear electrodes is lengthened, and many fine discharging operations occur between tip electrodes extending from the lateral sides of the electrode strips and flat portions of corresponding electrode strips. Therefore, a current concentration is prevented, thereby achieving uniform discharging. Also, brightness of the flat lamp increases.

  • Patent number: 6469287
Abstract: A combination microwave ventilated hood cooking system including a microwave oven with a cooking cavity; a magnetron for generating microwaves located adjacent the cooking cavity; and cooling fan outside the cooking cavity. The cooking cavity including at least two trays of different shapes and a stirrer for dispersing microwaves in the cooking cavity. A guide is between the stirrer and the cooling fan such that the guide has a downward slope from the cooling fan to the stirrer. During operation of the microwave, the cooling fan creates an air current, which is directed to the stirrer by the guide and drives the stirrer to disperse microwaves in the cooking cavity and direct an air current to cool the magnetron.
