  • Patent number: 9988898
Abstract: A method and system for monitoring a cable within a coiled tubing is disclosed. A first set of excitation signals is applied to the coiled tubing at a first point in time. The first set of excitation signals comprises one or more signals applied at one or more depths. The cable is positioned at a first location within the coiled tubing at the first point in time. A signal corresponding to the first set of excitation signals is detected at one or more fiber optic lines associated with the cable and location of the cable within the coiled tubing is determined using the detected signal corresponding to the first excitation signal.

  • Publication number: 20180126050
Abstract: A surgical hand piece is described that maintains a vacuum pressure within the hand piece at a selected level. A check valve is provided substantially near an inlet of an integrated aspirating pump. The check valve opens to introduce fluid into the hand piece to maintain the vacuum pressure within the hand piece at or above the selected level so as to prevent or substantially reduce post-occlusion flow.

  • Publication number: 20180082447
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method of determining a material characteristic of material in a sample by iterative tomographic reconstruction. The method conducts one or more X-ray tomography scans of a sample, and then determines one or more estimated material characteristics, such as atomic number and density, for multiple volume elements in the sample using a tomographic reconstruction algorithm. These estimated material characteristics are then modified by reference to stored known material characteristic data. Preferably, determining the composition of the sample volume during reconstruction includes segmenting the sample into regions of common composition, the segmenting being performed during iterative reconstruction instead of being based on the voxel characteristics determined upon the completion of iterative reconstruction.

  • Patent number: 9712783
Abstract: A video conference endpoint detects faces at associated face positions in video frames capturing a scene. The endpoint frames the video frames to a view of the scene encompassing all of the detected faces. The endpoint detects that a previously detected face is no longer detected. In response, a timeout period is started and independently of detecting faces, motion is detected across the view. It is determined if any detected motion (i) coincides with the face position of the previously detected face that is no longer detected, and (ii) occurs before the timeout period expires. If conditions (i) and (ii) are not both met, the endpoint reframes the view.
