    Abstract: An insert having a compartment that can be secured into a cap of a container is disclosed. The compartment can be used to store a humectant, desicant, or other material, which can be used to help preserve the contents of the container, such a food product or a pharmaceutical. The insert has a main body, a sidewall that surrounds the main body and extends upwards to define the compartment. A flange extends outwardly from the top of the sidewall that engages with the inner surface of the cap. The insert can be comprised of a resilient material to allow it to deform to fit within the cap and to secure it within the cap.

    Abstract: An apparatus for seamlessly activating an on-demand function related to a fluid-driven instrument connects to an output of control valve regulating system pressure during normal operation of the instrument. The apparatus includes a fluid-operated bistable circuit that is switchable from a standby mode to an actuating mode by a brief drop in system pressure. In the actuating mode the circuit acts on a switch or valve to activate the function. Turning off system pressure to a longer time returns the circuit to its standby mode. The circuit includes a two-port biased actuator responsive to pressure imbalance between its ports, which are separately pressurizable through, respectively, an actuator-controlled valve and a flow control module.

    Abstract: Apparatus (100) for measuring drilling parameters of a down-the-hole drilling operation for mineral exploration includes a module 10.1 mounted in-line with a drill string (110) and proximate to a drill bit (120). The drill string (110) is rotated and progressed down the hole. The module (10) has sensors for sensing conditions. The apparatus (100) measures drilling parameters based on the sensed conditions. The measured data is logged in the module (10) and then transmitted to a computer for a drilling operator's use. Measurement of drilling parameters based on sensed data proximate to the drill bit enables accurate determination of actual WOB, torque and RPM fluctuations, axial vibration, radial vibration, temperature, RPM.
