  • Patent number: 8653693
Abstract: An integrated exciter-igniter architecture is disclosed that integrates compact, direct-mounted exciter electronics with an aerospace designed igniter to reduce overall ignition system complexity. The integrated exciter-igniter unit hermetically seals exciter electronics within a stainless steel enclosure or housing. The stainless enclosure enables the exciter electronics to remain near atmospheric pressure while the unit is exposed to vacuum conditions. The exciter electronics include a DC-DC converter, timing circuitry, custom-designed PCBs, a custom-designed main power transformer, and a high voltage ignition coil. All of which are packaged together in the stainless steel enclosure. The integrated exciter-igniter unit allows for efficient energy delivery to the spark gap and eliminates the need for a high voltage cable to distribute the high voltage, high energy pulses.

  • Publication number: 20130103447
Abstract: A user declares an intention to perform a task in a social network. The system allows others, connected to the user within the social network, to provide social input that expresses interest in the task declared by the user and uses social mechanics to express support to the user and to assist in keeping the user motivated to perform the task. When the task is complete, the system notifies the other users (the stakeholders) and awards incentive.

  • Patent number: 8059137
Abstract: A method and system for rendering a desktop on a computer using a composited desktop model operating system are disclosed. A composited desktop window manager, upon receiving content information from application programs, draws the window to a buffer memory for future reference, and takes advantage of advanced graphics hardware and visual effects to render windows based on content on which they are drawn. The windows may also be rendered based on environment variables including virtual light sources. The frame portion of each window may be generated by pixel shading a bitmap having the appearance of frosted glass based on the content of the desktop on top of which the frame is displayed. Legacy support is provided so that the operating system can draw and render windows generated by legacy applications to look consistent with non-legacy application windows.

  • Publication number: 20110153115
Abstract: A self-service system with user interface positioning which accommodates drive-through vehicles of different heights and optionally different distances from an order board. The self-service system includes a user interface and a computer for positioning the user interface at a height above ground which substantially coincides with a window height above the ground of a vehicle adjacent the user interface. The height of the user interface is within a predetermined range of possible heights of the user interface corresponding to different window heights of different vehicles.
