  • Patent number: 6996061
Abstract: A method for dynamic division of the radio capacity in a Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) system between different packet radio services. Each packet radio service is composed of packets with the same or different priority. Several MSs can share a time slot. Information regarding to the interference for each MS is obtained by a request from a mobile station (MS) or through a traffic measurement at the base transceiver station. This information, along with the QoS contract, is used as criteria in allocating more time slots to packet radio service. A framework of dynamic scheduling for mobile communication (DSMC) comprising a Channel Codec Unit (CCU) and a Packet Control Unit (PCU) determines the service rate upon the required QoS of a user and the interference level.

  • Publication number: 20050058096
Abstract: A method and a system for wireless terminals registering a communication system, comprising wireless terminals, public land mobile network (PLMN), wireless local area network (WLAN), Wherein the wireless terminals are able to communicate with both the PLMN and the WLAN. The PLMN coverage overlaps the WLAN coverage linking the two together. First, the wireless terminal obtains an ID, attaches to a PLMN, and then transmits the ID to PLMN to authenticate and register. After authentication, the PLMN generates an authentication code and transmits the code to a wireless terminal. Additionally, the PLMN transmit the authentication code to at least one WLAN. • Publication number: 20040043781
Abstract: The present invention provides an overflow control method for frame synchronization of base stations in wireless communication network system. The wireless communication network system includes a radio network controller, a first base station, a second base station, and a mobile unit. The radio network controller transmits a plurality of data frames to the first base station and the second base station. The present invention includes the following steps. First, determine whether number of the plurality of data frames received by the second base station is larger than a judging storage capacity. Second, calculate an X and delete X of data frames from the second base station if the number is larger. The X is equal to the result of subtracting the judging storage capacity from the number. Meanwhile, detect a link quality between the mobile unit and the first base station.

  • Publication number: 20030185214
Abstract: The present invention relates to a scheduling unit in a wireless communication system. For sequentially receiving a plurality of Protocol Data Units (PDUs) in a plurality of communication sessions, accumulate and schedule the plurality of PDUs during a predetermined time frame, and transmit the PDUs based on a maximum power-strength of the wireless communication system. The scheduling unit comprises a time-based scheduler and a power-based scheduler. When the power-based scheduler schedules the PDUs, if the total sum of the required power of the PDUs exceeds the maximum power-strength of the wireless communication system, the power-based scheduler sends back to the time-based scheduler the PDUs whose power amounts to the exceeding of the maximum power-strength of the wireless communication system according to the corresponding priority values of the PDUs, so that the wireless communication system transmits all at a time the remaining PDUs whose total power remains within the maximum power-strength.

  • Patent number: 6075770
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for constructing a power spectrum based connection admission control table and using such a table in a communications network, such as an ATM network. Power spectrum parameters, such as the power spectrum DC component .gamma., half power bandwidth B.sub.w and average power .PSI..sub.w are transformed to .gamma., an equivalent half power bandwidth B.sub.e and an equivalent average power .PSI..sub.e, where B.sub.e is a predetermined constant. Since B.sub.e is constant, the transformation reduces the memory requirements for constructing a connection admission control table.

  • Patent number: 5812526
Abstract: A system and process are provided for controlling congestion at a node of an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) communications network. The process and system utilize fuzzy logic in determining whether or not to "admit," i.e., allocate a virtual channel (VC) for, new communications (or calls) to the node. Fuzzy logic is also use to control the rate cells are transmitted to the node for communications already "admitted," i.e., for which a VC has already been allocated. The fuzzy logic rules for bandwidth estimation in admission control may be developed from an "equivalent capacity" model. The fuzzy logic rules for adjusting cell transmission rates may be developed from a "two-threshold" congestion control model.

  • Patent number: 5633858
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method adapted to be used in hashing algorithm for reducing conflict probability which comprises the steps of receiving a first physical address of a frame; generating a hashing address corresponding to the first physical address; comparing a second physical address corresponding to the hashing address with the first physical address to determine if the first and the second physical addresses match with each other; completing a packet calling process when the first and the second physical addresses match with each other, but going back to the comparing process when the first and the second physical addresses do not match with each other, to determine whether there is another second physical address corresponding to the hashing address and matching with the first physical address; and ending the packet calling process when a number of times that the comparing process is proceeded is greater than a reference value.
