  • Patent number: 8970944
Abstract: Improved production of entangled photon pairs (biphotons) via spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) is provided. In one aspect, forward-wave SPDC is performed in a monolithic resonator (resonant for both signal and idler) having a double pass pump geometry to provide a spectrally bright source of biphotons. In another aspect, backward-wave SPDC is performed in a resonator (resonant for both signal and idler) to provide a spectrally bright source of biphotons. For either of these approaches, the biphotons can be made to have polarization entanglement by using quasi phasematching (QPM) with two QPM periods simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 8970599
Abstract: Data values are exhibited based on sector-ring angles. The data values to be exhibited are first received by a processing device. The sector-ring angles are then determined for the data values to be exhibited. Using the sector-ring angles for the data values to be exhibited, the data values are exhibited in a sector-ring manner.

  • Patent number: 8835833
Abstract: A two-dimensional (2D) magneto-optical trap (MOT) for alkali neutral atoms establishes a zero magnetic field along the longitudinal symmetry axis. Two of three pairs of trapping laser beams do not follow the symmetry axes of the quadruple magnetic field and are aligned with a large non-zero degree angles to the longitudinal axis. In a dark-line 2D MOT configuration, there are two orthogonal repumping beams. In each repumping beam, an opaque line is imaged to the longitudinal axis, and the overlap of these two line images creates a dark line volume in the longitudinal axis where there is no repumping light. The zero magnetic field along the longitudinal axis allows the cold atoms maintain a long ground-state coherence time without switching off the MOT magnetic field, which makes it possible to operate the MOT at a high repetition rate and a high duty cycle.

  • Patent number: 8820352
Abstract: A pressure-adjustable concealed shower valve includes a shell, containing an embedded body with water channels. A cover board that communicates with the water channels is arranged on the body. The body is provided with channels for hot water and cold water. The hot water channel and cold water channel are provided with a partition wall with a hole. The partition wall separates water inlets and outlets of the hot water channel and cold water channel. A buffer unit that can be opened and closed is arranged on the partition wall. The buffer unit contains a fixed adjustment screw and the corresponding booster spring and the central rod. The end of the central rod matches with the hole on the partition wall and can form an open or close structure. The partition wall and the buffer unit are arranged away from the straight line in which the water channel is located.

  • Publication number: 20140229944
Abstract: An apparatus comprising a memory and a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the memory contains instructions that when executed by the processor cause the apparatus to receive a migration request from a virtual machine (VM) proxy running on a first server hosting a VM, wherein the migration request comprises a VM identifier associated with the VM comprising a globally unique VM name and a current VM address associated with the first server, and wherein data packets associated with the VM are routed to the VM based upon the VM identifier and instruct a VM proxy running on a second server to receive the VM from the first server in response to the migration request, wherein the second server receives the VM, and wherein the VM name remains unchanged while the current VM address becomes associated with the second server after the second server receives the VM.

  • Publication number: 20140214349
Abstract: An apparatus for estimating a condition of a battery includes a mode identifying unit configured to identify a usage mode of the battery during a period of time and its corresponding attenuation curve, according to recorded data on battery usage, stored usage modes of the battery and attenuation curves corresponding to the various usage modes, the attenuation curve representing a change of a fully charged capacity of the battery with battery usage; and a condition estimating unit configured to calculate battery degradation according to the recorded data, the identified usage mode and its corresponding attenuation curve, the degradation representing a quantity of the fully charged capacity of the battery that is reduced over the battery usage. The condition of the battery is estimated so as to rationally judge the residual value of the battery in operation.

  • Patent number: 8628218
Abstract: A lamp includes a supporting body and a lamp body. The supporting body is fixed to a support such as a ceiling. The supporting body defines a plurality of apertures each including a hole and a slot. The slot has a width less than a diameter of the hole. The lamp body includes a housing, a heat sink, a light source and a cover. The housing forms a plurality of protrusions each including a pole and a head. The head has a diameter larger than a width of the slot. The protrusions extend through the holes of the apertures and then are rotated into the slots, whereby the heads are located above the slots and engage with the supporting body. Thus, the lamp is suspended from the support. A resilient member is provided between the housing and the supporting body.
