  • Patent number: 11229028
Abstract: The present technology provides a computer-implemented method and system for performing frequency selective scheduling between a user equipment (UE) and a base station. The UE selects a sub-band within a predetermined system bandwidth based on observed radio conditions. The UE then communicates the selected sub-band to the base station. The base station then selects a LTE resource block having a frequency range falling within the sub-band. The selected resource block is then used for communication between the base station and the UE. The process may be repeated at a frequency related to the channel coherence.

  • Publication number: 20210409163
Abstract: There is provided methods and associated base station and user equipment, for facilitating transmissions in a wireless communication system. The mapping between an index and its corresponding HARQ ID or HARQ ID & NDI pair can be done using one or more equations relating the two entities. The equations can be defined in two configurations, one for encoding HARQ ID or HARQ ID & NDI pair and a second for decoding the encoded HARQ ID or HARQ ID & NDI pair to determine the HARQ ID or HARQ ID and NDI.

  • Patent number: 11202324
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a grant free state for user equipment, for example a machine type communication (MTC) UE. There is provided a method for transitioning a state of a User Equipment (UE). The method includes determining, by the UE, if data is to be sent and transitioning, by the UE, to a grant free state when no data is to be sent, wherein transitioning to the grant free state includes receiving a grant free identifier (GF-ID). In some embodiments, the method further includes in accordance with a determination that an amount of data to be sent is below a threshold, transmitting, by the UE, the data together with the GF-ID. In addition, user equipment and base transceiver stations are provided each of which include a processor and memory having instructions stored thereon, which when executed by the processor configure the respective UE or BTS to perform the respective methods.

  • Patent number: 11172442
Abstract: A method and apparatus for indicating a system information block change in a wireless communication network is provided. According to the instant application, a single bit within the MIB is assigned as a change indicator, for example a SIB change indicator bit. As such upon the receipt of the MIB by the UE, evaluation of the change indicator within the MIB can enable the UE to determine if the SIB1 or SIB1-BR has changed.

  • Patent number: 10931492
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communication, e.g. in an LTE system, that uses two tones with an in-phase pi/2 BPSK modulation with single carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA). Pairs of input bits are converted to symbols using pi/2 BPSK, with each one of the pair of bits converted using a same symbol constellation, and successive pairs of bits converted using alternatingly different symbol constellations. The two constellations may be identical after a pi/2 radian rotation. Pairs of symbols corresponding to pairwise converted bits may be treated as the symbols for a pair of tones of a subsequent SC-FDMA, OFDMA, or similar processing operation.

  • Publication number: 20210028918
Abstract: A method and apparatus for resource allocation for half duplex frequency division duplexing in a wireless communication system is provided. Fixed or variable HARQ timing of greater than 5 subframes may be implemented. Acknowledgements for multiple downlink (uplink) transmissions can be bundled into a single acknowledgement transmitted on an uplink (downlink) control channel. Bundled acknowledgements for downlink transmissions may also be provided. Variable lead time cross subframe scheduling may be provided in which the number of subframes of delay between an uplink or downlink grant and the corresponding scheduled uplink or downlink transmission changes based on other scheduled events and/or half-duplex transceiver availability in the appropriate mode. The scheduling may select the earliest available subframe after a minimum delay. Uplink grant bundling may also be performed, in which multiple uplink grants are transmitted via a single grant indication.

  • Patent number: 10764847
Abstract: A method and apparatus for using enhanced PSS (ePSS) transmitted from a base station, for example an eNB, for use by UEs for resynchronization of the UE with the base station is disclosed. According to some embodiments, when resynchronization using the ePSS fails on the first attempt, the UE non-coherently or coherently combines the ePSS with the legacy PSS/SSS in order to resynchronize the UE with the base station. According to some embodiments, when resynchronization using the ePSS fails on the first attempt, the UE non-coherently or coherently combines the ePSS reception results with the legacy PSS/SSS reception results in order to resynchronize the UE with the base station.

  • Publication number: 20200260397
Abstract: There is provided a method and user equipment that enable the evaluation of the validity of a timing advance known to a UE for enabling the UE to transmit using preconfigured uplink resources (PUR). The method includes receiving data enabling determination of a measured change in a reference signal received power by a UE. The UE subsequently determines if the measured change in the RSRP is less than a positive change threshold. If the determination is true, the UE proceeds with the transmission using PUR. In some embodiments, prior to proceeding with the transmission, the UE further evaluates or determines if the measured change in the RSRP is greater than a negative change threshold. The UE will subsequently use PUR for the transmission only if the measured change in the RSRP is greater than a negative change threshold.

  • Patent number: 10630445
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for implementation of cyclic prefix (CP) and demodulation reference signal (DMRS) in 2 sub-carrier pi/2 binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation in a communication system. DMRS symbols are interleaved with data-carrying symbols and configured such that they are alternatingly transmitted on different ones of the two sub-carriers. When a DMRS symbol is transmitted on one sub-carrier, the other sub-carrier may be unused. In implementing CP, phase rotations may be applied to modulation symbols, such that each concurrently transmitted pair of symbols is subjected to a same phase rotation. The phase rotation can be derived based on an average frequency of the two (e.g. adjacent) sub-carriers in use. The phase rotations can be updated recursively, and the update multiplied by a scaling factor.
