  • Publication number: 20190394712
Abstract: Systems and methods for network event reporting are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a first entity for reporting wireless device connectivity events includes determining that a connectivity event has occurred for a wireless device; and communicating to a second entity that the connectivity event has occurred for the wireless device. In this way, in some embodiments, reporting of PDN Connectivity creation and deletion can be made on request and does not need to be always enabled for a UE with a configured UE Reachability Monitoring Event. Also, in some embodiments, Application Servers know when they can communicate with a CIoT device. The new parameters provided to the Application Server, i.e., IP Address, PDN Type and/or APN of the PDN Connection, also inform the Application Server how to communicate with the CIoT device.

  • Patent number: 10368220
Abstract: A server for controlling user MTC devices. The server ascertains if a user MTC device has an IP connection to a cellular access network, and if so, sends a message to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message. If a user MTC device does not have an IP connection, the server ascertains if the user MTC device is a mobile or a stationary user MTC device, and for a stationary user MTC device, the server sends a message to the cellular access network to trigger the user MTC device to initiate an IP connection, and for a mobile user MTC device, waits until the user MTC device has an IP connection, and for both kinds of user MTC devices, when the user MTC device has an IP connection, transmits a message to the user MTC device to initiate an application defined in the message.

  • Patent number: 10336216
Abstract: Vehicle access seating supports a user seat unit using a mounting assembly, a fore-aft slide assembly, a swivel assembly and an extension/retraction assembly. The seat unit moves from a secured drive position on either side of the motor vehicle to an access position wherein at least part of the seat is outside the vehicle, facilitating user vehicle access. Moving from the drive position to the access position, the seat moves linearly along two axes—one (static) defined by the mounting assembly, and a second axis (pivotable) defined by the seat itself—increasing the seat occupant's legroom by reducing the clearances between the seat and the vehicle B-pillar and between the seat and the vehicle transmission tunnel. A vertical mounting recline angle improves the occupant headroom inside the vehicle. Moving between the drive and access positions, the seat can move through a narrow transition corridor in the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10306552
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in cellular/wireless mobile communication systems, in particular for handling latency issues in a wireless network and power saving features in user equipment. This is provided in methods and nodes for handling communication in a wireless communication network. The solution involves receiving from a user equipment (UE) an indication of maximum acceptable response time for an application, setting relevant Mobility Management Entity/Serving GPRS Support Node (MME/SGSN) parameters and timers accordingly, where the parameters/timers are set in such a way that the maximum response time is not exceeded if power saving functions are active, and sending from the node an instruction to the UE about which power saving function(s) the UE preferably should use.

  • Patent number: 10104703
Abstract: Example embodiments presented herein are directed towards providing direct communications between a mobility management node (e.g., SGSN, S4-SGSN or MME) and an MTC-IWF node via a T5 interface. With the use of the direct communications unnecessary queries to a HSS or HLR may be avoided. The direct communications are established by the mobility management node and the MTC-IWF node saving identifying information of the other node.

  • Publication number: 20180219981
Abstract: There is provided mechanisms for communicating non-IP data over a PDN of PDN type IPv4, IPv6, or IPv4IPv6. A method is performed by a core network gateway node. The method comprises communicating IP packets over a packet data network of PDN type IPv4, IPv6, or IPv4IPv6 with an application server, the IP packets comprising an IP header and being addressed to a wireless device. The method comprises communicating header-less payload packets over the packet data network with the wireless device. The header-less payload packets correspond to the IP packets having the IP header removed and represent the non-IP data.

  • Patent number: 9998991
Abstract: A receiver electronic communication device and a sender electronic communication device are connected over a cellular network and the Internet. The receiver device uses discontinuous reception (DRX) to receiver data packets from the sender device. At least a starting time of an active period of a DRX cycle implemented at the receiver device is estimated responsive to monitoring the data packets transmitted from the sender device to the receiver device.

  • Patent number: 9948519
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to establishing only a single PDN connection for a CIoT device using, for example, minimum NAS signaling and default parameters in the serving node. Thus, the existing session management signaling from the CIoT device may be eliminated, and instead the core serving node may establish a single PDN connection or PDP context based on default values, subscription information, and other information locally available in the serving node or available in the network when the CIoT device attaches to the network.

  • Publication number: 20170311371
Abstract: The embodiments herein relate to a method in a gateway node for handling a RAN-CN data connection between the gateway node and a RAN node in a communications system. The gateway node receives a data suspend indication indicating that at least one RAN-CN data connection for the UE should be suspended. When the data suspend indication has been received, the gateway node stores resume information associated with the RAN node. The gateway node suspends the RAN-CN data connection according to the received data suspend indication. The gateway node receives a data resume indication indicating that the at least one RAN-CN data connection for the UE should be resumed. The gateway node resumes the at least one RAN-CN data connection for the UE using the stored resume information.

  • Patent number: 9756009
Abstract: A method and system for forwarding information to a device in a communication network are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes selecting a serving node to which to send a request. The selected serving node is one of plurality of serving nodes, each of the plurality of serving nodes supporting a different access technology. The request is to transmit one of a short messaging service, SMS, message and trigger information. The request includes a list of the plurality of nodes. The method further includes sending the request to the selected serving node via a translation interface associated with the selected serving node. The translation interface is adapted to use a protocol that corresponds to the access technology of the selected serving node. If the selected serving node cannot reach the device, the request is forwarded to another serving node in the list of serving nodes in the request.

  • Patent number: 9730056
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system is provided for establishing communication between a wireless communication device (WCD) and one of a plurality of serving nodes (SNs). Each of the SNs is configured to perform mobility management and session management. The WCD determines information that identifies which WCD-SN protocol type is supported by or is being used by the WCD. Each of the WCD-SN protocol types is a version, subset, or variant of a protocol used to support mobility and session management. The identified protocol type is compatible with one or more of the SNs and is not compatible with another one or more of the SNs. The WCD transmits, to a base station controller, a message that includes the information on which WCD-SN protocol type is supported by the WCD or is being used by the WCD. The controller selects, based on the protocol type, one of the SNs.
