    Abstract: The present invention relates to low-halogen-content, thermoplastically-processible polyurethane elastomers (TPU), to which are added antimony trioxide, chlorinated and/or brominated aromatic compounds having a specified halogen content, aluminum hydroxide having a specified particle size, phosphoric acid tris-ester, and, optionally, quaternary tetra-alkyl ammonium salts. These additives impart an unexpectedly favorable combination of electrical surface properties, flameproof behavior and abrasion resistance.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to a process extruding or melt roll calendering thermoplastic polyurethanes wherein the polyurethanes used are synthesized from p1 (a) one or more relatively high molecular weight substantially linear polyols having molecular weights in the range from 400 to 10,000(b) diphenyl methane and/or hexamethylene diisocyanate and(c) a mixture of 85 to 99% by weight of 1,4-butane diol and 1 to 15% by weight of at least one co-extender selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, diethylene 1,2-propane diol, 1,3-butane diol, 1,6-hexane diol, 2-ethyl-1,3-hexane diol, 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propane diol, 1,4-bis-hydroxymethyl cyclohexane, hydroquinone-bis-hydroxyethyl ether, and mixtures thereof, the equivalent ratio of NCO groups in component (B) to the Zerewitinoff-active hydrogen atoms in components (A) and (C) being from 0.9:1 to 1.2:1 and the molar ratio of component (A) to (C) being from 1:20 to 5:1.

    Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a continuous process for the production of thermoplastic materials, comprising:I. introducing 4 to 65 parts by weight of thermoplastic polymer into an extruder at a first inlet, wherein the temperature within said extruder is such that said thermoplastic polymer melts;II. adding to said thermoplastic polymer through a second inlet 35 to 96 parts by weight of the following polyurethane forming components, such that the total parts by weight of thermoplastic polymer and polyurethane components is 100:(A) organic polyisocyanate; and(B) chain lengthening agent with a molecular weight below 400 containing a hydroxyl group and/or amine group;wherein the ratio of isocyanate groups of component (A) to Zerewitinoff active groups of component (B) is in the range of from 0.90:1 to 1.2:1; andIII. discharging from the extruder the product of the process when the reaction of said polyurethane components (A) and (B) is substantially complete.

    Abstract: An improved coke oven battery and an improved method for production of coke and byproducts are provided. The filling gas escaping during the filling of the oven chambers with coal is initially rendered inert by admixing flue gas. Then the resulting gas mixture of filling gas and flue gas is withdrawn via a conduit fed with flushing liquor from the coke oven gas off-take main and is added to the raw coke oven gas after the coke oven gas off-take main. The tar and coal containing flushing liquor coming from the filling gas conduit is fed back to the coke oven gas off-take main after removal of the tar.

    Abstract: For cleaning a flow of used air from a spray booth wherein articles are lacquered, a duct is provided with a first constriction where the flow of used air is brought into contact with washing fluid so as to wet lacquer particles in the used air. Downstream of the first constriction a guide conduit, which has a bend therein deflects the flow of used air and the washing fluid. The guide conduit is provided with a second constriction and after the flow of used air and the washing fluid have been deflected they pass through the second constriction, which is narrower than the first. Turbulence is thus created and the washing fluid is atomized and intimately mixed with the used air.

The filaments are deflected by means of a rotating deflector and a subsequent guide plate connected thereto. It is important that the rotating deflector deflects the filaments from the rotational axis and that the guide plate rotating synchronously with the deflector leads back at least part of the filaments in the direction of the intersection of the rotational axis and the deposition surface, this leading back being carried out advantageously to a different extent for different portions of the filament veil. This leading back being at least partial results in a considerably more uniform area weight distribution than hitherto obtained.
