Abstract: One embodiment is a method for suppressing background inaccuracies in binary to grayscale image conversion. A binary image is converted to a grayscale image using a neighbor map. An image enhancement function is applied to the grayscale image to suppress background inaccuracies in the grayscale image. Another embodiment is method for converting a binary pixel of a binary image to a grayscale pixel of a grayscale image and suppressing noise in the grayscale image using selective filtering of the binary image. Another embodiment is a method for converting a binary image to a first grayscale image and suppressing noise in the first grayscale image to produce a noise suppressed grayscale image using selective filtering of the first grayscale image.

Abstract: An apparatus for data strobe and timing variation detection of an SDRAM interface includes a differential-signal to single-end signal converter, a first phase delay circuit, a data latch circuit. The differential-signal to single-end signal converter receives a differential data strobe signal from the SDRAM interface and converts the signal into a single-end data strobe signal. The first phase delay circuit is connected to the differential-signal to single-end signal converter to delay the phase of the single-end data strobe signal for producing a delayed data strobe signal. The data latch circuit is connected to the phase delay circuit to latch synchronous data from the SDRAM interface according to the delayed single-end data strobe signal.

Abstract: A method and system reconstructs a contone image from a binary image by first tagging pixels to identify one of a multiplicity of image content types. The tag information and the pattern of bits surrounding the pixel to be converted to a contone value are used to reconstruct a contone image from a binary image. The pattern of bits in the neighborhood is used to generate a unique identifier. The unique identifier is used as the address for a lookup table with the contone value to be used. A filter also generates a contone value. A selector selects between the look-up table contone value and the filter contone value based an image context type.

Abstract: A portable electronic device includes a shell, a control circuit, a display panel and at least a bi-stability display module. The shell has an opening and an accommodating cavity in two different surfaces. The control circuit includes a first information transmission unit. The control circuit and the display panel are disposed in the shell. The display panel is electrically connected to the control circuit. The display panel has a display surface exposed from the opening. The bi-stability display module is detachably disposed in the accommodating cavity and selectively electrically connected to the control circuit. The bi-stability display module includes a second information transmission unit for communicating with the first information transmission unit and a bi-stability display for displaying the information received by the second information transmission unit. The bi-stability display module can display when the control circuit is closed.

Abstract: A method for providing a private information to a mobile user and an associated wireless communication network and mobile station are provided to reduce the consumption of power and radio link bandwidth for transmission of the private information. The method, used in the wireless communication network, comprises paging a mobile station of the mobile user via a paging channel during a paging period to read the private information, and reading the private information by the mobile station via a non-dedicated channel during a reading period after the paging period.

Abstract: A universal plug adapter, comprising: a main body, at least a set of plug pins, an orientation guide rod allowing sliding of pins and a slide block restricting the shift of pins; the plug pin comprises of at least two pins of different sizes, of which a single pin can be pushed every time; a sliding groove is set laterally onto the slide block; the groove is deep upwards and shallow downwards; the pin is provided with a bulge; when the pin is pushed, the bulge moves along the groove of the slide block groove; given the different depth of the groove, the bulge pushes the slide block to shift, such that the bulges on other pins cannot be aligned with the center of the groove, so other pins not yet pushed are restricted in original position.

The tongue has an insertion portion formed on a front end, a tongue hole formed through the insertion portion and a handle mounted on a rear end of the tongue. The protection is mounted between the insertion portion of tongue and the handle. The protection can cover gaps formed between an opening of a buckle and the tongue and thereby prevent sand, debris or muddy water from entering a casing of the buckle.

Abstract: A digital electronic apparatus includes a touch display panel, an active touch pen and a power shortage reminding module. The active touch pen is suitable for inputting signals to the touch display panel. The power shortage reminding module is disposed in one of the touch display panel and the active touch pen. The power shortage reminding module is suitable for monitoring a remaining power of the active touch pen and prompting the touch display panel to send out a reminding signal for charging the active touch pen, and therefore, the active touch pen can be timely charged, which prevents the power of the active touch pen be exhausted in use.

Abstract: A touch electrophoretic display apparatus includes an electrophoretic display panel and a touch panel. The electrophoretic display panel includes a substrate and a front plane laminate, wherein the front plane laminate is disposed on the substrate and the front plane laminate has an electrophoretic layer. The touch panel is disposed on the front plane laminate and is contacted the front plane laminate. The touch electrophoretic display apparatus has an advantage of high brightness.

Abstract: An optical apparatus comprises: a semiconductor substrate; a semiconductor optical device integrally formed on the substrate and having an off-normal device end face; and a low-index planar optical waveguide integrally formed on the semiconductor substrate at the device end face. The device and waveguide are non-collinear, and the waveguide is end-coupled at its proximal end to the optical device by refraction at the device end face. The apparatus further includes a reflective coating between the waveguide and substrate, an etched end face curved in the horizontal dimension, or an etched end face with a lower portion that protrudes beneath a proximal portion of the waveguide.

Abstract: In a touch control electrophoretic display module, and a manufacturing method and a touch sensing method for the same, the touch control electrophoretic display module includes a flexible electrophoretic display apparatus and a pressure sensing apparatus. The flexible electrophoretic display apparatus has a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface has a display area used for displaying needed images. The pressure sensing apparatus is disposed on the second surface. Furthermore, the pressure sensing apparatus is used for sensing a pressure inputted in the display area through the body of the flexible electrophoretic display apparatus, so as to calculate the input coordinates of the pressure input.

Abstract: A capacitive touch panel with customizable function icons and the method thereof are disclosed. The touch panel has a plurality of inductive electrode patterns arranged on a substrate regularly firstly. A plurality of functional icons are then defined on the touch panel. Each of the inductive electrode patterns is respectively connected to a control chip on a control circuit board via a wire. The control chip designates the plurality of inductive electrode patterns as a functional group to correspond to one of a plurality of functional icons, so as to execute the corresponding function. Whenever the position or the size of the functional icons needs to be altered, only the inductive electrode patterns that correspond to the functional icon need to be altered within the control chip to become effective immediately.

The electronic paper display panel has a first side and a second side adjacent to the first side, wherein a length of the first side is shorter than a length of the second side. Further, the flexible substrate is connected with the first side of the electronic paper display panel. The electronic paper display device can meet different application requirements.

The memory access command parallel processor is connected to the system memory access command buffer for fetching and decoding the system memory access commands to plural DRAM access commands, storing the DRAM access commands in DRAM bank command FIFOs, and performing priority setting according to a DRAM bank priority table. The DRAM command controller is connected to the memory access command parallel processor and a DRAM for receiving the DRAM access commands, and sending control commands to the DRAM. The read data buffer is connected to the DRAM command controller and the system bus for storing the read data and rearranging a sequence of the read data.

Abstract: A locking mechanism for a seat belt has a case, a locking set and a pretensioner. The case is mounted adjacent to a side of a retractor having a shaft and the case is mounted around the shaft and has a mount inside the case and at least one opening being formed on the bottom. The mount has at least one hole formed therethrough. The locking set is mounted on the shaft. The pretensioner has a steel ball and a rod. The steel ball is detachably disposed on the mount and the rod is pivotally mounted in the case and is disposed on the steel ball. If muddy water, sand or dirt enters the locking mechanism, muddy water, sand or dirt can fall through the at least one hole of the mount and the at least one opening thus avoiding muddy water, sand or dirt affecting the locking mechanism.

Abstract: A method for managing defect blocks in a non-volatile memory essentially comprises the steps of detecting defect blocks in the non-volatile memory, storing addresses of the defect blocks in a table block of the non-volatile memory, and setting the non-volatile memory to be read-only if the quantity of defect blocks in the non-volatile memory exceeds a threshold and no free blocks remain in the non-volatile memory. In a preferred embodiment, the free pages in the defect block continue to be programmed before setting the non-volatile memory to be read-only.
