Abstract: A method of efficient scheduling for portable devices communicating with a coordinator over a network is disclosed. The method includes: listening for beacons broadcasted by a coordinator; assigning, by the coordinator, a single contiguous time block (CTB) for portable devices during a superframe defined by consecutive beacons; scheduling a single wake period of one of the portable devices, which overlaps inclusively with consecutive beacons and the single CTB; and minimizing duration of the single wake period of the portable device. The single CTB may be arranged next to one of the consecutive beacons. The method may further comprise assigning, by the coordinator, a single random access time block (RATB) for the one of the portable devices so as to overlap with the single wake period. The RATB may be arranged next to one of consecutive beacons. The CTB may be arranged next to the RATB. The CTB may be arranged next to one of the consecutive beacons.

  • Publication number: 20110096681
Abstract: A method and system for data communication in a wireless network is provided. A wireless transmitter transmits a locality check message from a wireless transmitter to a wireless receiver over a wireless communication medium. Upon receiving a locality check response message from the wireless receiver, the wireless transmitter marks the locality check response message as valid even if it arrives after an original locality check time period since transmission of the locality check message, but before the end of an adjusted locality check time period. The adjusted locality check time period comprises said original locality check time period adjusted by delays in processing layers at the transmitter and wireless communication medium access delays in data communication between the wireless transmitter and the wireless receiver.

  • Patent number: 7869390
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a system for PSMP communication in a wireless communication system such as an IEEE 802.11n WLAN including an AP and multiple STAs. An example of such a PSMP communication involves transmitting a PSMP frame from the AP to the STAs over a wireless channel, detecting if the channel is idle for certain duration, and if the channel is idle for said certain duration, then performing a PSMP recovery process. The PSMP frame includes one or more STA info fields which specify schedules of periods for communication over the wireless channel in a PSMP sequence. In performing a PSMP recovery process, the AP constructs and broadcasts a PSMP recovery frame that allows STAs that missed the original PSMP frame to join the PSMP sequence.

  • Patent number: 7675911
Abstract: A packet communication process for a wireless system that includes a sender and a receiver, is provided. The packet communication process dispenses with the need to send multiple block acknowledgments, one per Traffic Identifier (TID), from the receiver to the sender. This involves aggregating multiple MPDUs having a plurality of different TIDs; for each TID, generating a BAR to request an acknowledgment for one or more MPDUs with that TID from the receiver; transmitting the aggregated MPDUs and the BARs from the sender to the receiver over a wireless channel; receiving the aggregated MPDUs and the BARs at the receiver; in response to the BARs, generating a single block acknowledgement that includes an acknowledgment for each MPDU with a different TID; and transmitting the single block acknowledgement to the sender.
