  • Publication number: 20080273600
Abstract: A method and system for transmission of uncompressed video information from a sender to a receiver over wireless channels is disclosed. For example, according to one embodiment, a time division multiple access method is used to allocate channel time blocks (CTBs) of a wireless channel to a particular transmitting device. If the transmitting device encounters a data underflow condition in which insufficient data for filling a reserved CTB is available for transmission, alternate data is identified for transmission during the otherwise unused reserved time period. Accordingly, embodiments include systems and methods of using such partially utilized CTBs.

  • Publication number: 20080253462
Abstract: Method and system for transmission of uncompressed video information from a sender to a receiver over wireless channels are disclosed. For example, according to one embodiment, when channel conditions (e.g., noise or interference) worsens, one or more least significant bits (LSB) of pixel data are not transmitted to save bandwidth for more efficient transmission. Furthermore, the remaining one or more of the most significant bits (MSB) of the pixel data are transmitted with coding and/or modulation schemes that provides extra error protection, relative to what is needed in regular channel conditions.

  • Publication number: 20080240146
Abstract: A system and method for performing medium access control in a system for wireless communication of uncompressed video is disclosed. In one aspect, the system includes one or more high rate channels overlapping with a primary low rate channel and one or more secondary low rate channels. In another aspect, the system includes a communication device configured to communicate a bandwidth request message identifying bandwidth required for communication with another communication device. The bandwidth request message contains information allowing a device coordinator to determine a reserved time slot for communication on a secondary low rate channel when communication is determined not to be possible on a high rate channel. Transmission on the secondary low rate channel is time division duplexed with a high rate channel, where transmission at any one time can take place on either the high rate or the secondary low rate channel.

  • Publication number: 20080212612
Abstract: A packet communication process for a wireless system that includes a sender and a receiver, is provided. The packet communication process dispenses with the need to send multiple block acknowledgments, one per Traffic Identifier (TID), from the receiver to the sender. This involves aggregating multiple MPDUs having a plurality of different TIDs; for each TID, generating a BAR to request an acknowledgment for one or more MPDUs with that TID from the receiver; transmitting the aggregated MPDUs and the BARs from the sender to the receiver over a wireless channel; receiving the aggregated MPDUs and the BARs at the receiver; in response to the BARs, generating a single block acknowledgement that includes an acknowledgment for each MPDU with a different TID; and transmitting the single block acknowledgement to the sender.

  • Publication number: 20080175198
Abstract: Wireless communication between a first transmitter and a first receiver for a new transmission is established on the same wireless data channel used for ongoing transmission between a second transmitter and a second receiver. This is achieved by determining if the second receiver can receive signals from the first transmitter, and determining if the first receiver can receive signals from the second transmitter. If the second receiver cannot receive signals from the first transmitter, and the first receiver cannot receive signals from the second transmitter, then a new transmission is performed from the first transmitter to the first receiver by spatial reuse of the wireless data channel at least partially concurrently with said ongoing transmission on said data channel.

  • Publication number: 20080176561
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a system for device discovery in wireless communication. One implementation involves scanning one or more wireless channels to discover a partner wireless station for a new transmission, by detecting peak energy and beacons on each scanned channel. If a beacon is not detected, then selecting the clearest channel among the scanned channels, and transmitting beacons on the clearest channel. Upon detecting a beacon from a partner station, establishing association with the partner station and selecting a wireless data channel for communication with the partner station. Another implementation involves discovering a partner wireless station to establish a data channel for communication with a discovering station that is associated with a coordinator station, and transmitting a bandwidth reservation request to the coordinator to reserve channel time for control message exchange between the discovering station and the partner station.
