  • Patent number: 4360107
Abstract: A carton erected from a one-piece paperboard carton blank permits a frozen pizza to be heated in a microwave oven while still in the carton. The carton has a bottom panel in contact with the pizza crust, the bottom panel having openings to permit venting of steam vapor during heating and the openings forming cross-straps to support the crust. The openings are sealed by a closure panel prior to heating and portions of the closure panel open like shutters on a window and are used, during heating, to support the carton above the oven shelf.

  • Patent number: 4355757
Abstract: A carton, and a blank for forming the same, is disclosed which is adapted for storing and heating a food product such as a pizza. The carton includes a bottom wall defined by a bottom panel and closure panel, disposed in abutting and coplanar relationship. The bottom panel is provided with a plurality of venting apertures. In use, the closure panel is rotated away from the bottom panel such that a pair of elevator panels extend therebetween. The closure panel thereby defines a base for supporting the bottom panel in spaced relationship to the bottom of the oven. Further, the venting apertures are uncovered allowing moisture to escape from the carton while the pizza is being heated.

The double lock prevents the collapsing of the pyramidal shape so that it can support a product in its intended form. The carton can be of single cell or multiple cell structure with one of the pyramid sides derived from the center divider.

  • Patent number: 4341341
Abstract: A take out carton and a blank for forming the same is disclosed having a flat top portion and unique locking closure which provides additional stability for the carton. More particularly, a carton is disclosed having a tubular side wall and an auto-erecting lock bottom. The subject carton further includes a pair of opposed top panels, each having a pair of tab receiving apertures disposed adjacent the side edges thereof. A pair of opposed closure panels are provided each including two triangles. Each triangle further includes a central fold line defining a pair of minor triangular portions. The carton may have a generally inverted truncated pyramidal configuration to permit stacked nesting of the plurality of cartons. In the closed condition of the carton, the top edges of the top panels are in abutting relationship to define the flat top configuration.

  • Patent number: 4320830
Abstract: A carton having a plurality of sidewalls forming a rectangular tube includes a transversely extending platform therewithin spaced from one end of the carton. The platform is hingedly joined along one lower edge of a sidewall by a triangularly shaped connecting tab specially cut to allow pivoting of the platform 180.degree. relative to the sidewall to which it is joined. Printing is applied to only one side of the one piece blank from which the carton is formed, and the platform is pivoted during folding of the blank to dispose the printed side of the platform facing upwardly to be viewed through a display opening in one of the sidewalls.

  • Patent number: 4262814
Abstract: A wrapping device, formed of a unitary paperboard blank, secured tightly against the sides of a container and against the cap thereon, which is easily torn upon attempted upward movement of the cap for the purpose of, for example, the attempted fraudulent switching of a low price-marked cap to a larger size, higher priced container. The wrapping device is in the form of an elongated strap of paperboard, which has at least one aperture therein through which a part of the container's cap protrudes. A carton for a plurality of capped containers is formed from a plurality of the wrapping devices, which are in turn formed from a unitary blank. An assembly for a plurality of capped containers is formed from a plurality of the wrapping devices releasably coupled together.

  • Patent number: 4252236
Abstract: A rectangularly shaped carton for containing a plurality of flexible, rectangularly shaped planar articles, such as diapers, in stacked rows therein includes a specially configured dispensing opening in the front wall thereof for controlling the dispensing of the articles therefrom in a manner to prevent inadvertant removal of multiple quantities of the articles. The dispensing opening includes a first and second vertical dimension which are respectively longer and shorter than the longest edge of each of the articles, while the edges of the front wall defining such opening extend oblique to any of the edges of the articles whereby to limit dispensing of the articles to a one-at-a-time basis. A triangular dispensing opening is preferred which is provided with a similarly shaped, tear-away closure panel hingedly connected along the base side thereof to the front wall to permit reclosing the carton.
