  • Patent number: 4236662
Abstract: A multi-sided container, formed of a unitary blank, defining an enclosed chamber in which a platform is located. The platform is coupled to one of the outer panels of the container and has an article receiving aperture therein. The platform is formed from a series of hingedly connected panels, one of which is integral with one of the container's outer panels and the other of which is adhered to that same outer panel. In one embodiment, the platform is integral with an outer side panel. In another, the platform is integral with an outer front panel. The platform is perpendicular to the outer panel to which it is coupled. The container is formed from the blank in only three folding steps.

  • Patent number: 4201329
Abstract: A dispensing carton particularly adapted for use with small candies includes a pair of tubular structures parallel to each other, closed at one end while the upper portion includes a sliding tab which is disposed intermediate overlapping tabs. The upper portion includes sets of registering holes each set of registering holes registering with one of at least a pair of compartments. The sliding tab is hingedly connected to a pivotally connected portion of one end panel of the tubular carton and is so arranged not merely to facilitate the manufacture of the carton but also so that it may be moved to a position where it opens one of the compartments alone or opens the second of the compartments alone or closes both compartments.

  • Patent number: 4201294
Abstract: A display carton for an elongated bottle is formed from a single blank and includes an upper display panel for advertising, and is wrapped about the length of the bottle to completely expose two opposed sides thereof. The carton is manually secured along the base thereof by an arrangement of bendable flanges pivotally connected to an outer base panel in cooperation with locking flanges disposed on an inner base panel. The bendable flanges are disposed perpendicular to the carton base and are generally arcuate in shape resulting in an interference fit between the bendable flanges and the inner surfaces of the carton, thus keeping the flanges in an upright, locked position, for maintaining the carton in a closed condition. The display carton includes apertures for engaging the top and bottom portions of the bottle therein, to prevent lateral shifting of the bottle within the carton, thus affording protection to the bottle during shipment and display.

  • Patent number: 4195765
Abstract: The present invention relates to a carton with at least one integrally formed handle comprising first and second opposing side walls, first and second opposing end walls integrally connecting said side walls to form a generally rectangular carton and top and bottom closure panels integrally attached to said side and end walls for enclosing said carton and, in particular, an improved top closure panel comprising inner and outer wall panels attached at their outer edges to said first and second side walls respectively and to each other in superimposed relationship, first and second congruent handles formed in said inner and outer walls, respectively, in a superimposed relationship, and means attaching said first and second handles to each other to form a unitary handle selectively movable from a horizontal to a vertical position for carrying said carton.

  • Patent number: 4160502
Abstract: A platform carton has front and back panels connected by side panels. Panels for forming an article-receiving platform within the carton include a base panel extending from the bottom of the front panel, a riser panel formed by a continuation of the base panel, an apertured platform panel continuing from the riser panel and a glue flap at the opposite edge of the platform panel. The base panel extends from the front panel to the back panel while the riser panel lays against the inner surface of the back panel. The platform panel extends forward from the riser panel toward the front panel, to which it is secured by the glue flap. The platform panel and the base panel are both parallel to the top and bottom edges of the carton. A top cover flap connected to the back panel can be folded down over the top of the carton while a bottom cover flap extending from the bottom of the back panel can be folded upward to cover the base panel.

  • Patent number: 4159765
Abstract: A shadow display carton and blank for making same with top and bottom portions of a front panel in position to frame the article to be displayed, and die cut folded sections at the top and bottom of the carton to support and restrain the article away from the end panels of the carton. The die cut section of the bottom of the carton is reinforced by a foldable reinforcement panel cut from the section to prevent collapse of the bottom support under the weight of the article.

  • Patent number: 4155445
Abstract: A display carton for an elongated bottle of smaller length and width than the carton is characterized by upper and lower support structures for restraining lateral and longitudinal movement of the bottle within the carton. The upper structure is in the form of a transverse strut having a U-shaped cut-out corresponding in configuration, and adapted to engage, the cap of the bottle. The lower support structure includes a portion that is adhesively bonded to the inside of the back panel of the carton and is hingedly connected to an inclined support member having an aperture corresponding in configuration to the base portion of the bottle. The aperture has a V-shaped cut which serves the purpose of guiding and funneling the bottle into the carton as it is automatically loaded by conventional automatic loading equipment. Preferably, the front panel includes slanted shadow panels, for aesthetic purposes and to expose substantially the entire length of the elongated bottle.

  • Patent number: 4139121
Abstract: A tamper-proof dispensing carton particularly suited for packaging of elongated articles is of generally rectangular configuration including a top panel having a central arcuate opening, with a strip extending diametrically across the opening to divide the opening into two segments, and with the strip being releasably connected to the top panel. Secured to the inside surface of the top panel and extending across the arcuate opening is a covering formed by two sections which overlap along a seam disposed immediately below the diametrically extending strip. By this arrangement, the dispensing carton may be displayed on a shelf without requiring an additional outer wrapping, and the consumer may readily obtain access to the contents of the carton by merely removing the diametrically extending strip. The removable strip also functions to make the dispensing carton tamper-proof while on the store shelf.

  • Patent number: 4138016
Abstract: A dispenser carton having a slidable closure formed by an extension panel hingedly connected to a side wall of the carton. This side wall is of a two-ply construction wherein the slidable closure panel is connected to the outermost ply. The innermost ply also has an extension panel which seats on an opposite extension panel of an opposite side wall to form a base support for the slidable panel. A top closure wall flap connected to the front and rear walls of the carton, respectively, is folded over the side extrusion panels and secured together to close the carton. The innermost extension panel of the two-ply side wall includes an opening therethrough, which is placed in registration with openings formed in the top closure wall flaps when the slidable closure panel is moved laterally with respect to the top wall flaps and innermost extension panel, enabling the contents of the carton to be dispensed therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4128168
Abstract: A display carton for an elongated bottle which is substantially equal to the length of the carton, but is of smaller width than the carton, is provided with top and bottom retaining panel structures to prevent lateral movement of the bottle within the carton. Each retaining panel structure includes a first flap pivotally connected to the back panel of the carton, and having, in turn, a glue flap hingedly attached thereto. Hingedly connected to the opposite edges of the glue flap are two spaced tabs, with the combined length of the tabs and the glue flap being greater than the length of the first flap. By this arrangement, the first flap is disposed in abutting relationship to the end flap closure of the carton, and the glue flap is bonded to the first flap. The spaced tabs are wholly disposed within the carton and extend at an angle to the back panel so as to form with the first flap and the back panel a right triangle.
