Patent number: 4982584Abstract: A steering lock system for locking a steering system of an automotive vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission. The steering lock system is comprised of a selector position sensor for detecting a selected position of a selector lever for the automatic transmission. The selector position sensor is adapted to produce a parking position signal when the selector lever is at a park position. A key cylinder is rotatable to take a LOCK position by an ignition key insertable into the key cylinder. The ignition key is enabled to be pulled out of the key cylinder at the LOCK position, upon which a steering shaft is locked. The ignition key is disabled from being pulled out of the key cylinder upon absence of the parking position signal from the selector position sensor while is enabled to be pulled out of the key cylinder only in response to the parking position signal from the selector position sensor, thereby improving reliability of operation of the steering lock system.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1989Date of Patent: January 8, 1991Assignees: Nissan Motor Company, Ltd., Kinzoku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshimitsu Takeda, Haruo Mochida, Toshio Kanai, Mikio Masaki

Patent number: 4716748Abstract: In a steering lock device of a type which can unlock a steering shaft of a vehicle without using a key, there is provided a so-called "back-up" means for assuring the steering shaft unlocking condition of the device when the key in a key rotor assumes "ignition ON" position. The means comprises a pivotally supported check lever having a first end projectable into the key rotor and a second end lockably engageable with a steering shaft locking bar. When the keyless unlocking is intended, the first end of the check lever is moved away from the key rotor by an electromagnetically actuated plunger thereby permitting rotation of the rotor toward the ON position disengaging the locking bar from the steering shaft. Upon completion of disengagement of the locking bar from the steering shaft, the second end of the check lever is brought into locking engagement with the locking bar thereby holding the same in the steering shaft unlocking condition.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1986Date of Patent: January 5, 1988Assignees: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., Kokusan Kinzoku Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshio Watanuki, Haruo Mochida, Hidekazu Satou

Patent number: 4672375Abstract: A keyless entry system allows operation of various vehicle devices including a door lock without using a mechanical key, such as an ignition key. The system comprises a wireless, portable transmitter adapted to produce a radio signal indicative of a unique code preset in the transmitter, and a controller mounted on the vehicle and associated with the vehicle devices. The controller has a preset code to compare with the unique code indicative in the radio signal transmitted from the transmitter. The controller also detects impending or accomplished locking of the transmitter in the vehicle and produces an alarm and subsequently disables the keyless entry system unless the transmitter is removed from the vehicle within a given period of time after the alarm is given.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1985Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Nissan Motor Company, LimitedInventors: Haruo Mochida, Kinichiro Nakano, Mikio Takeuchi, Motoki Hirano

Patent number: 4638292Abstract: A theft preventive system, in an automotive keyless entry system with automatic door locking, is adapted to produce an alarm signal in response to door opening when the theft preventive system is in a door-locked position, and which is cooperative with a door-lock system but independently operable in order to switch its operating mode from a door-locked mode to a door-unlocked mode. The theft preventive system in an automotive keyless entry system, according to the present invention, includes a push-button-type function key for operating a door-lock mechanism to lock a vehicle door. A memory circuit is responsive to a door-lock signal fed from the door-lock function key to indicate the door-locked condition. The content of the memory cannot be cleared unless a plurality of door-unlock function keys are properly operated. An alarm circuit is responsive to a door-open signal from a door switch in the presence of a memory output indicative of the door-locked condition to produce an alarm signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1982Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignees: Nissan Motor Company, Limited, Kokusan Kinzoku KogyoInventors: Haruo Mochida, Hirotoshi Namazue
