  • Patent number: 4633724
Abstract: A push-pull cable arrangement for selectively transmitting longitudinal motion to two separate destinations has an inner wire having a front end, a rear end and an intermediate node between the front and the rear ends. The inner wire is enclosed with a first outer casing between the front end and the intermediate node, and with a second outer casing between the intermediate node and the rear end. Front and rear ends of the first outer casing are held stationary. A front end of the second outer casing facing the intermediate node of the inner wire is movable, and a rear end of the second outer casing facing the rear end of the inner wire is held stationary. When the front end of the inner wire is pulled, a longitudinal motion of the inner wire is transmitted to the rear end of the inner wire, by which a first receiving unit is moved. When the front end of the inner wire is pushed, the intermediate node of the inner wire pushes the front end of the second outer casing, by which a second receiving unit is moved.

  • Patent number: 4585258
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hood locking apparatus for motor vehicles, and more particularly to a hood locking apparatus which is adapted to overcome any tendency for a remote control cable to disengage from a base plate of the locking mechanism. The locking apparatus uniquely comprises a reinforcing plate defined at the reverse side of a base plate to straddle mounting end portions defined at opposite ends of the base plate for attachment to the vehicle body and a cable disengagement preventive piece defined at and projected from the reinforcing plate to extend in the direction of a notch formed through the base plate. The reinforcing plate has its one end welded to the mounting end portions in such a manner that a predetermined clearance can be formed between the other end and one of the mounting end portions of the base plate.

  • Patent number: 4566576
Abstract: A reduction gear mechanism comprising a worm and a worm wheel which mechanism includes a magnet clutch wherein a coil is disposed in one side of the worm wheel which serves as a rotor, while an armature is disposed in the other side of the same. Upon energization of the coil, the mechanism acts as a normal reduction gear whereas, upon deenergization, an output power shaft of the clutch can be rotated freely or independently. Since the incorporation of the magnet clutch results in no substantial increase of the size of the reduction gear mechanism, the mechanism can be advantageously installed where a space for installation is restricted, such as a door of an automobile.

  • Patent number: 4565994
Abstract: A device for detecting the removal of a cylinder lock used on cars, trunks, etc. when an unjust force is applied to the cylinder lock. The device also detects the locked and unlocked conditions of the cylinder lock. Magnets and magnetic sensor switches are used. A magnetic shield plate shields the flow of magnetic flux between the magnet and the magnetic sensor switch. When an unjust force is applied to the cylinder lock to take off the cylinder lock, the magnetic shield plate will be removed from between the magnet and the magnetic sensor switch, causing the magnet to energize the magnetic sensor switch, thereby detecting the removal of the cylinder lock.In addition, when the cylinder lock is turned by a key, another magnet connected to a rotor of fixed on the cylinder lock approaches either of a pair of magnetic sensor switches, whereby the locked and unlocked conditions of the cylinder lock are detected.

  • Patent number: 4530185
Abstract: By providing two separate units for actively opening and closing a door of an automobile, safe and reliable door opening and closing operation may be achieved. The first unit is operated to open the door in a normal way and closes the door to its not fully latched state while the second unit completes the door closure operation by closing it to the fully latched state, thereby reducing the unfavorable influences arising from the impact which is otherwise unavoidable for complete closure of the door.

  • Patent number: 4485694
Abstract: An engine starter circuit for an automotive vehicle provided with an automatic transmission such that an engine can be started only when the gear selector lever is in the park or neutral position, in particular, only when the gear selector lever is securely shifted into the park position. The engine starter circuit according to the present invention comprises a redundant park-position detection switch in addition to an engine-starter switch and an inhibitor switch including a park-position detection switch and a neutral-position detection switch, so that the pseudo-parking position caused by a mechanical play in a linkage mechanism can be reduced, with more reliable detection of the park position. The redundant park-position detection switch is a pin-actuated or a body-actuated selector microswitch positioned with respect to the gear selector lever of the automatic transmission and so constructed as to reduce the mechanical play inherent in the detection of park-position.

  • Patent number: 4482885
Abstract: An alarm system for an automatic transmission includes an alarm device and two or three control switches in a serial connection. One switch closes when the transmission selector lever is not in park position; the second switch closes when a condition preparatory to leaving the vehicle, such as door opening, is detected. The third, optional switch closes when an emergency brake is not securely engaged. Thus, an alarm is generated when the driver prepares to leave the vehicle with the transmission selector lever not in the park position. Redundant switches are disclosed for the first and second switches. Also, a holding relay is disclosed which maintains the alarm until the automatic transmission selector lever is shifted into the park position, by closing a shunt across the second switch whenever the alarm is produced.

  • Patent number: 4477806
Abstract: A mischief preventive electronic lock device has a mischief prevention system which prevents lock/unlock operation for a given period of time after a pushbutton input unit has been operated extraordinarily often in comparison with usual number of keystrokes required for entry of an input code. The electronic lock device is normally operated to lock/unlock a door matching by the input code with a preset code. The mischief prevention system is adapted to count the number of keystrokes from the input unit to perform the foregoing preventive operation whenever the keystroke count exceeds a predetermined value. The mischief prevention system permits further input after expiration of the given period. This discourages trial-and-error attempts to satisfactorily protect the electronic lock device from mischief.

  • Patent number: 4473141
Abstract: A shift lever control device for an automotive transmission by which a shift lever can be shifted from a Park position to a Reverse position or vice versa only when the park brake is in opertion and the engine has been started. The control device comprises a shift lever control means having a plunger and an electromagnetic actuation mechanism, an ignition key switch and a park brake switch, in addition to a conventional shift lever device having a shift lever, a position plate, a pin, and so forth. The ignition key switch, the park brake switch, and the electromagnetic mechanism are connected in series between a power supply and ground, so that if the park brake is released or the engine turned off, the electromagnetic mechanism is operated to actuate the plunger to drive the pin of the gear shift level into engagement with a Park position slot. The control device is also intended to prevent the dangerous situation when the shift lever is accidentally set to the park position while the engine is running.
