  • Patent number: 5448379
Abstract: Method and apparatus for forming color images on paper using a sublimation type thermal transfer full-color printer using three color inks of yellow, magenta, and cyan. A color input signal to be printed is subjected to a first color correction process. The first color correction process performs a color correction using linear and non-linear masking operations and produces first ink-density signals. The first ink-density signals are judged for reproducibility by the printer by determining whether the signals fit within a gamut of colors. If judged to be reproducible, the first ink-density signals are passed on to the printer. However, if the first ink-density signals are judged to be outside the gamut of colors, the signals are subjected to a second correction process. The second color correction process first obtains a target color for color reproduction by the printer.

  • Patent number: 5390264
Abstract: In an image processing method for correcting a target pixel using emphasizing and smoothing components, a microcomputer stores the input image signal into an image memory, and generates the enhancement coefficient k data in the enhancement coefficient table memory using a function with an input/output characteristic whereby the output is a simple increasing value when the input is approximately zero. Using a first difference, which is the difference of the target pixel signal minus the signal of the reference pixel positioned on a first direction, the enhancement coefficient k is obtained by referencing the enhancement coefficient table, and the target pixel is enhanced proportionally to the enhancement coefficient k and the first difference.

  • Patent number: 5384601
Abstract: An automatic color adjustment apparatus for use in an imaging device for adjusting the color of a subject such as skin or leave, which is well retained in human memory, to be as natural as possible. The color adjustment apparatus has a weighting coefficient setting device for setting a weighting coefficient according to the difference between the input chromaticity value and the preselected reference chromaticity value set by a chromaticity value setting device. The preselected reference chromaticity value is selected, with respect to a particular subject, such as skin, to be equal to the most natural color of that subject in a chromaticity plane defined by hue and saturation characteristics. The color-adjusted output signal is produced from a calculator which calculates an internal division operation applied to the preselected reference chromaticity value and the input chromaticity signal using the weighting coefficient.
