  • Publication number: 20040198274
Abstract: A scanning antenna diversity system for mobile FM radio having an antenna system with controllable logic switch (2), wherein a different high-frequency reception signal (5), in terms of diversity, is passed to a receiver (3). An IF signal (9), derived from this reception signal turns on a diversity processor (4), which switches the logic switch (2) into a different switching position in response to reception interference. The diversity processor (4) has a first interference detector (6) whose momentary interference indicator signal (10) is obtained without delay from the momentary value of the IF signal (9), which is limited to the IF bandwidth, by means of determining the interference-related occurrence of impermissible momentary values of the frequency and amplitude of this signal.

  • Publication number: 20040183737
Abstract: A combination antenna arrangement is provided for at least two wireless communication services, wherein a closely tolerated directional diagram is configured for the first wireless service, in a frequency range assigned to it. Antenna conductor parts are provided only for the function of the additional wireless communication services, and are radiation-coupled with the antenna assigned to the first wireless communication service. The conductor parts are divided into segments forming interruption points designed to be smaller than ⅜ &lgr; for this first wireless service. The interruption points are bridged by low-loss, frequency-dependent reactance circuits (8), in order for the combination antenna arrangement to function. These circuits possess a sufficiently high impedance in the frequency range of the first service and an impedance that is predetermined for proper functioning for the frequency range of the frequency range of the additional communication services.

  • Publication number: 20040164912
Abstract: A radio antenna arrangement disposed in the conductive surface of a vehicle consisting of a substantially rectangular aperture having aperture length L and width B, wherein said aperture length L is sufficiently small so that the self-resonant frequency of the aperture is greater than the center frequency of the operating frequency range. There is a capacitive tuning element disposed in the aperture for tuning the aperture to a resonant frequency to approximately the center frequency of the operating frequency range. The capacitive tuning element serves as capacitive connection between the edges of the aperture, and is formed as a low-inductance element, so that due to the residual inductive effect, the remaining magnetic reactive power is as small as possible relative to the magnetically generated reactive power from the magnetic fields in the aperture. An input coupling element is also disposed in the aperture for coupling the antenna connection point to the resonance like high electromagnetic fields.

  • Publication number: 20040160373
Abstract: A monopole antenna for use with at least two wireless communication services, having a monopole element (10) disposed along a straight line (11) and connected with a roof capacitor (1) that is designed as a flat area, the area normal line (12) pointing in the direction of the straight line (11). The roof capacitor (1) has rotational symmetry, and is formed by flat ring structures (2) that are separated from one another by ring-shaped gaps (3), the structures being oriented concentric to the straight line (11). Reactance circuits (4) connect the ring structures (2) with one another so that they are active for a wireless communication service having the lowest frequency, and the outermost ring structure (2) is essentially ineffective for the wireless communication service having the next higher frequency, because of the high impedance of the reactance circuit (4).

  • Publication number: 20040113854
Abstract: An active broad-band reception antenna, in which the internal amplification of the active antenna is lowered if a predetermined signal level is exceeded, and which consists of a passive antenna part having output connectors that are connected with the input connectors of an amplifier circuit. The input circuit of the amplifier circuit contains a three-pole amplification element with its impedance control connector being connected with the first connector of the passive antenna part, at high frequency. The input admittance of a transformation network having the nature of a low loss filter for low amplitude, high-frequency reception signals, has a counter-coupling and linearizing effect in the high-frequency connection between the source connector of the three-pole amplification element and the second connector of the passive antenna part. The transformation network is loaded with a continuing circuit at its output.

  • Patent number: 6611677
Abstract: A scanning antenna diversity system for motor vehicles having at least two antennas mounted in a multi-antenna installation, and connected to a switching logic circuit. The circuit has discrete switching positions, and a reversing position USmax. A receiver is coupled to logic circuitry for receiving a RF signal from one of switching positions or reversing position USmax. There is a diversity processor coupled to and controlled by receiver for producing a derived received signal from the RF signal, with diversity processor cyclically stepping the logic circuitry to another switching position during the presence of receiver interference. There is a maximum level indicator having its input coupled to the antennas, and having its output connected to the controllable logic circuitry for sensing the strongest actual levels of the antenna signals. Level indicator 39 continuously compares the received signals at antennas and activates the logic switching circuit in response to any interference.

  • Patent number: 6574460
Abstract: A radiotelephone system for motor vehicles, having a group antenna system with a plurality of antenna elements, and a mobile radiotelephone with a high-frequency input for receiving radio signals. The group antenna system contains controllable phase and/or amplitude adjusting elements, which are set so that a directed reception with a main receiving direction is available. The controllable phase and/or amplitude adjusting elements are controlled by a processor for tracking the main receiving direction azimuthally in the direction of a fixed station with the help of a tracking signal. Controllable switching-elements for reversing antenna signals for diversity reception are integrated in the signal paths of the group antenna system so that the azimuthal main direction of reception is tracked with a defined tracking by setting a combination of the switching positions of the controllable switching elements.

  • Patent number: 6430404
Abstract: A scanning antenna diversity system for motor vehicles having at least two antennas disposed in a multi-antenna installation. The diversity system also contains a controllable logic circuitry, and a receiver for receiving a signal from the antennas. Connected to the receiver is a diversity processor controlled by the receiver, for stepping the logic circuitry to another switching position during the presence of reception interference. This occurs during the shortest possible comparison times, which are initiated in cyclic repetition upon expiration of a longer time interval by level comparison circuitry for detecting signals. In this case, the level comparison circuitry determines a maximum level switching position associated with the greater actual received signal in an actual receive situation. Thus, the level comparison time is selected sufficiently short so that the reception is not audibly impaired by the level comparison time.
