  • Patent number: 4701099
Abstract: An apparatus for recovering and towing a vehicle. The apparatus is provided on a truck that has a winch with a draw cable. The apparatus includes a crane having a frame, which is connected to the truck, a boom, which is pivotably connected to the frame, and a lifting bracket, which can be connected to a vehicle that is to be towed. The draw cable is detachably connected to the boom by a coupling. To lower and raise the lifting bracket via the draw cable, the pivotable connection of the boom to the frame is effected by a substantially horizontally extending shaft connected to the frame.

  • Patent number: 4678482
Abstract: Hydrogen chloride gas obtained as a by-product in the production of chloroacetic acid by subjecting acetic acid to a catalytic chlorination reaction with chlorine gas in the presence of acetic anhydride and/or acetyl chloride is purified. The prepurified by-product still contains 0.1-3 vol % acetyl chloride and up to 0.1 vol % chloroacetyl chloride. For purification, the hydrogen chloride gas is passed through two zones series-connected together and scrubbed in countercurrent fashion. More particularly, it is scrubbed in the first zone with concentrated hydrochloric acid and in the second zone with concentrated sulfuric acid.

  • Patent number: 4676059
Abstract: In preparation for the start of spinning with an open-end spinning apparatus, suction is provided outside a fiber transport path on the periphery of an opening roller. Such suction is greater than spinning suction which exists at the mouth of a feed channel leading to the fiber-collecting surface. The fiber stream is thereby guided beyond such mouth to be sucked off. At commencement of actual spinning, this added suction is inactivated, to permit the fiber stream to be initially supplied to the fiber-collecting surface. The fiber stream may be controlled with a suction source connected to a sucking-off orifice via a switching device and a suction line. Less conspicuous and more even thread joins are thereby obtained. Control of suction changes may be effected automatically from a servicing trolley, or in other manners.

  • Patent number: 4670651
Abstract: An apparatus for the performance of the SNMS process, having a separate ion source, a sample holder, a system for the production of a radio-frequency plasma and a mass analyzer, in which the ion source and the mass analyzer are disposed side by side on the same side of the chamber provided for the radio-frequency plasma, and in which the sample mounted on the sample holder is situated within the chamber provided for the radio-frequency plasma. This apparatus can be used not only for the performance of the two kinds of SNMS operation (DMB and SBM) but also secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) under optimum spatial conditions.

  • Patent number: 4653260
Abstract: To improve the re-piecing operation, especially in terms of its success rate, at high spinning speeds, the free thread end cut to the length of a piecable end and retained after cutting the length is exposed to a turbulent air flow which causes it to execute whiplash-like oscillations. The surface of the thread end is thereby roughened. The thread end prepared in this way is subsequently transferred to the fiber-collecting surface of the open-end spinning apparatus. The roughening of the surface of the free thread end is accelerated when the end is whipped against an edge-like projection or a rough surface.

  • Patent number: 4654605
Abstract: A resonant circuit which includes the input capacitance of the clock pulse inputs of a shift register (10) is pulsed by a sinusoidal wave at voltage peaks of the wave by an oscillator delivering barely enough energy to overcome the damping of the resonant circuit. The oscillator may be crystal controlled and, instead of having a single ended output for delivering energy only on peaks of one polarity, may be in push-pull form reinforcing oscillation peaks of both polarities. This circuit is easily combined with arrangements for switching oscillator frequency from one value to another and/or arrangements for interrupting the clock pulse output for timed intervals after each loading or unloading of the shift register. The loss power dissipation is reduced to about 6% of the loss power dissipation of a square pulse drive for the clocking of the same shift register.

  • Patent number: 4614969
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing an endless tubular felt includes superposing layers of tubular felt one upon the other and binding of the superposed layers together. A marking line is applied to the top surface of the superposed layers in continuous manner as the felt is trained about the driven rolls. The rolls include needle segments which move the felt axially of the roll. A scanner scans the position of the marking line shortly before the completion of one revolution. A controller compares the position of the marking line with a reference and causes the needle means to be adjusted to that the marking line corresponds with the reference.

  • Patent number: 4497166
Abstract: To end or start the spinning operation on an open-end spinning unit by means of a switching device with which the connection to a spinning element or a delivery channel is alternately unblocked and blocked during the reversal of a switching device, the fiber flow is taken out of the region of the particular fiber path to be blocked, and only then is this region blocked. To influence the fiber flow, the volumetric flow rates of suction air flowing through the switching device are controlled. The switching device (6) has at least one closing member (60) with a first orifice (61) which leads to the spinning element (1) and the cross-section of which is enlarged geometrically in a discontinuous manner in the direction of the orifice opening, and with a second orifice which leads into the delivery channel (51) and the cross-section of which is reduced geometrically in a gradual way in the direction of the orifice closure.

  • Patent number: 4400146
Abstract: A gear machine, such as a gear pump or gear motor, has a housing in a chamber of which there are journalled two gears which mesh with one another. One of the gears is mounted on a drive shaft the end of which is extended outwardly from the housing. The housing is closed at one side thereof with a cover having a stepped bore for receiving the end portion of the drive shaft. The cover is formed with a circumferential projection concentric with the drive shaft and adapted for centering the cover relative to an external element to be coupled with the gear machine. The stepped bore provided in the cover forms a chamber in which a centering ring with a certain radial play is positioned, which centering ring surrounds the drive shaft. A sealing ring is also positioned in the chamber formed in the stepped bore, which sealing ring sealingly closes the housing. The centering ring provides for reliable aligning of the gear machine to the external element adapted to be coupled with the machine.
