Abstract: Cosmetic compositions for cleaning hair, the skin or for removing make-up from the face or from the eyes, containing (a) a foaming surface-active agent, (b) an aqueous, hydroalcoholic or oily carrier and (c) a nonfoaming, nonionic product, poorly soluble in water, of general formula (I):R--O--[C.sub.2 H.sub.3 --CH.sub.2 R.sub.1 --O].sub.p [C.sub.2 H.sub.3 O--CH.sub.2 OH].sub.n H (I)in which R denotes a C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 alkyl radical, R.sub.1 denotes a C.sub.7 -C.sub.17 alkyl radical or an alkoxy radical containing from 8 to 20 carbon atoms, R+R.sub.1 containing from 21 to 31 carbon atoms and preferably from 23 to 27, p denotes the exact value of 1 or a statistical mean value of between 1 and 2, and n denotes a statistical mean value of between 2 and 10 and preferably between 2.5 and 7.The presence of the component (c) improves the compatibility of the foaming surface-active agents (a) with the skin and the mucosa.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical and cosmetic composition for topical application comprises in a physiologically acceptable medium a combination of benzoyl peroxide and a quaternary ammonium salt selected from a quaternary ammonium alkyl sulfate of sulfonate, an aryl sulfonate and an alkyl aryl sulfonate.

Abstract: Mixture of compounds of general formula: ##STR1## in which R denotes a saturated C.sub.10 -C.sub.12 hydrocarbon radical, or mixture of such radicals, and n has a mean statistical value from 2 to 15, and preferably from 3 to 12.These products are very well tolerated by the skin and the mucosa, and are advantageously used in cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions.

Abstract: Cationic surface-active products of the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 =C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 aliphatic radical, R.sub.2 =C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 alkyl, alkoxymethyl or alkenyloxy radical, p=1-2.5, n=2-20 and G denotes an amine or amine oxide group, and their salts are disclosed for use principally in cosmetics.

Abstract: Process for preparing polyglycerolated nonionic surfactants from (poly)hydroxylated organic compounds, by condensing glycerol monochlorohydrin with the said (poly)hydroxylated compound in the presence of a strong base, at a temperature below 150.degree. C. and in the presence of an aromatic solvent, removing the water formed by distillation as it forms.This process makes it possible to condense a relatively large quantity of glycerol monochlorohydrin in a single step, while limiting the formation of polyglycerols, and to obtain a good quality surfactant which is usable in cosmetic compositions.

Abstract: Perfluorinated surface-active block or random oligomers of the formula ##STR1## where R denotes a C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 -hydrocarbon or-hydroflurocarbon radical,Y denotes a C.sub.6 -C.sub.13 -fluorocarbon or-hydrofluorocarbon radical which can contain a chain oxygen atom,Z denotes a group which confers solubility in water andp and q denote integers or decimal numbers from 0.5 to 30 are provided. They are suitable for use in cosmetic compositions for the treatment of hair. They slow down the flow of sebum and the rate at which hair becomes greasy again.

Abstract: Foaming cosmetic compositions for cleansing the hair or the skin, containing, in proportions from 0.5 to 95%, a surfactant oligomer of formula (I): ##STR1## in which: R denotes a C.sub.10 -C.sub.18 hydrocarbon radical;R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which may be identical or different, denote H or CH.sub.3 ;n denotes an average statistical value from 10 to 35;m denotes zero or an average statistical value .ltoreq.5;m/n preferably being .ltoreq.0.25M denotes H, Na, K or an ammonium group.These compositions are characterized by good foaming power, good compatibility with the skin and the ocular mucosae and a suitable detergent power.

Abstract: Process for the preparation of water-soluble or water-dispersible polyglycerolated nonionic surface-active agents.This process is characterized by the polyaddition of glycerol chlorohydrin and of a strong base, and preferably sodium or potassium hydroxide in an aqueous solution, to a (poly)hydroxylated compound.This process has the advantage of replacing glycidol, which is usually employed, by glycerol chlorohydrin, which is less costly, easier to store than glycidol, and also of avoiding the flash distillation of a flammable volatile solvent.
