Abstract: Linear bi- or tri-enic fatty esters of erythromycin A have the formula ##STR1## wherein one of R and R' represents a linear bi- or tri-enic C.sub.18 acyl radical having an all cis (Z) stereochemical configuration and the other of R and R' represents hydrogen.

Abstract: The invention relates to non-ionic surface-active agents which correspond to the formula ##STR1## in which R denotes a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic radical containing 4 to 20 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 denotes (1) a, preferably linear, alkyl radical, (2) a linear or branched alkoxymethyl radical or (3) an alkenyloxymethyl radical, the alkyl or alkenyl parts of these radicals containing from 4 to 20 carbon atoms,and Z denotes a polyether linkage corresponding to the formula ##STR2## in which n denotes an average statistical value of 2 to 20 and A denotes (a) the group OH,(b) the group ##STR3## in which u denotes 0 or 1, or (c) the group ##STR4## in which u dentoes 0 or 1, the radicals R and R.sub.1 containing a total of 12 to 38 carbon atoms, as well as to the derivatives of the above compounds which result from the reaction of ethylene oxide or glycidol with the OH groups.

Abstract: Perfluorinated surface-active block or random oligomers of the formula ##STR1## where R denotes a C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 -hydrocarbon or -hydrofluorocarbon radical,Y denotes a C.sub.6 -C.sub.13 -fluorocarbon or -hydrofluorocarbon radical which can contain a chain oxygen atom,Z denotes a group which confers solubility in water andp and q denote integers or decimal numbers from 0.5 to 30are provided. They are suitable for use in cosmetic compositions for the treatment of hair. They slow down the flow of sebum and the rate at which hair becomes greasy again.

Abstract: The invention relates to new polyethylene glycol derivatives.These compounds correspond to the general formula: ##STR1## in which R denotes an alkyl and/or alkoxymethyl and/or alkenyloxymethyl radical or a mixture of these radicals, n denotes an average number of units from 20 to 500 and preferably from 30 to 200, and x and y denote average numbers of units from 0 to 8, it being possible for (x+y) to vary from 1 to 8.They can be used in cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions, in particular as thickeners.

Abstract: Surface-active statistical oligomers of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 denotes a C.sub.4 -C.sub.30 optionally substituted, aliphatic or cycloaliphatic radical, R.sub.2 denotes a C.sub.5 -C.sub.20 alkyl radical, m and n, which are identical or different, denote a number from 1 to 25, X denotes --CH.sub.2 --, --O-- or ##STR2## in which u=0 or 1, and Y denotes a group: ##STR3## (in which M denotes a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal), an amine group, an amine salt or ammonium are described as well as processes for their preparation and novel intermediates used in these processes. These surface-active oligomers possess a low aggressiveness towards the skin and mucous membranes and ae suitable for use in cosmetic compositions and for dispersing hydrocarbons.

Abstract: Surface-active polysiloxanes are disclosed having the formula: ##STR1## in which x denotes an integer from 3 to 10 and A denotes a cationic, anionic, zwitterionic or nonionic hydrophilic unit which contains one or more of the same or different groups which are amine, amine oxide, ammonium, ammonioalkylcarboxylate, ammonioalkylsulphonate, amide, sulphonamide, ether, thioether, sulphoxide, hydroxyl, ester or acid groups. These polysiloxanes are particularly useful for use in cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions, especially compositions for the hair.

Abstract: Polyhydroxyl non-ionic surface active agents, for use in a cosmetic composition such as hair dye or shampoo composition is prepared by condensing glycidol on a polyhydroxyl fatty chain reactant in the presence of an acid catalyst at a temperature of 50.degree.-120.degree. C.

Abstract: Tensio-active cyclic polyethers of the general formula: ##STR1## where A refers to a hydrophile block chosen from the amine, ammonium, ammonio alkyl carboxylate, ammonio alkyl sulfonate, amide, sulfonamide, ether, thioether, hydroxyl, ester and acid groupings.These polyethers may be prepared (1) by reaction of alcohol or of undecylenic acid with thioacetic acid, (2) saponification with an alkaline base, (3) reaction of the product obtained in (2) with the tetramer of epichlorohydrin or of epibromohydrin, (4) reaction of mesylate or tosylate of the compound obtained in (3) either (a) with dimethylamine or methylethanolamine, the resulting compound being able to be salified or alkylated, or (b) with the mercapto ethanol or mercapto glycerol; the compounds thereby obtained being then able to be submitted to reactions of polyaddition of ethylene oxide and/or of glycidol oxide.These tensio-active cyclic polyethers are suitable for use in the cosmetic, textile, insecticide and similar industries.

Abstract: Non-ionic products of the formula:R--X-- [C.sub.2 H.sub.3 (OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.n (OH)-- CH.sub.2 --Y--R'in which R and R' denote alkyl or alkenyl radicals having from 6 to 20 carbon atoms, the sum of the numbers of carbon atoms in R and R' being 24 to 32; X denotes an oxygen atom, a sulphur atom or a sulphoxide group; Y denotes a sulphur atom, a sulphoxide group or a methylene group (if Y denotes methylene, the sum of the numbers of carbon atoms in R and R' is 22 to 30); and n denotes an integer or decimal number from 1 to 40 are disclosed. These non-ionic compounds are suitable for use in pharmaceutical or cosmetic applications, in particular for the care of the skin or hair.

Abstract: Non-ionic surface-active agents of the formula are disclosed: ##STR1## in which a=0 or 1, R denotes a C.sub.8 -C.sub.30 aliphatic or alicyclic radical, x+y totals a number from 1 to 10 and, in each unit, one of Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 denotes hydrogen and the other denotes the radical ##STR2## in which R.sub.1 denotes methyl or ethyl. These products can be prepared simply and are suitable for use in cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions and in particular in cosmetic compositions for treating the hair or skin.

Abstract: A cosmetic of pharmaceutical composition containing an oily phase has as the said oily phase one comprising at least one organo-silicon compound of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each independently represent a saturated linear alkyl containing 8-16 carbon atoms; Z represents ##STR2## equal 0 or 1. The organo-silicon compound can be present in the composition in an amount ranging from 1 to 100 percent by weight based on the total weight of the composition. When cosmetic or pharmaceutical active components are present in the composition, they are homogeneously distributed therein and such compositions have excellent spreading and feel characteristics. The compositions are usefully employed in topically applied formulations such as milks, creams, oils and lotions.

Abstract: A cosmetic excipient comprises a compound or mixture thereof having the formula ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl having 7-20 carbon atoms, a mixture of said alkyl radicals, the hydrocarbon residue of lanolin when X is oxygen or the hydrocarbon residue of lanolic acid when X is ##STR2## one of Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 represents --CH.sub.2 --Y--R' and the other represents hydrogen; X represents oxygen or carbonyloxy of the formula ##STR3## linked to R through the free bond of the carbon atom of the carbonyloxy group; Y represents --CH.sub.2 --, oxygen and carbonyloxy of the formula ##STR4## linked to R' through the free bond of the carbon atom of the carbonyloxy group R' represents alkyl having 3-30 carbon atoms or a mixture of said alkyl radicals, or a portion of the --Y--R' groups can represent --OH; A is hydrogen or when Y is carbonyloxy a mixture of hydrogen and ##STR5## wherein R' has the meaning given above; and n is a decimal or whole number greater than 1 and lower than or equal to 10.
