  • Patent number: 5788202
Abstract: In a support device for firmly supporting objects, particularly for supporting a telephone in a vehicle, wherein the device has clamping wall structures mounted on a base body so as to be slideable thereon, pivots are provided in engagement with the clamping wall structures for movement of the clamping wall structures in unison toward, and away from each other and a locking disc is mounted on the pivots for movement therewith and locking structures are arranged adjacent the locking disc which selectively engage the locking disc to permit movement of the clamping wall structures toward each other but not away from one another, the locking disc being releasable by disengaging a locking member. Preferably the pivots includes a pin and slotted hole arrangement for transferring linear motion from the clamping wall structures to the pivots and the locking structures are friction wedges engaging the locking disc in a stepless fashion.

  • Patent number: 5740995
Abstract: A device for supporting objects, especially objects such as utilized in vehicles, boats and the like, comprising a base adapted to be mounted on a substrate, for example, a dashboard or console, and a carrier member for supporting said objects and which includes means for retaining an object supported thereon securely in place. The carrier member and the base have formed thereon interlocking elements for interlocking the carrier member with the base, said interlocking elements being disengageable to permit removal of the carrier member from the base. The inter-locking elements are arrayed such to allow the carrier member to be mounted on and interlocked with the base in different posi-tions angularly displaced from one another.

  • Patent number: 5653031
Abstract: In a safety belt cutter comprising a housing to be mounted on a safety belt an operating element is provided so as to be movable across the safety belt and has an at least partially U-shaped portion having legs extending essentially parallel to the plane of the belt so as to form a belt-receiving gap wherein a cutting blade with a cutting edge is so mounted that the cutting edge of the blade extends through the gap at an angle to the plane of the belt and is exposed only within the gap of the operating element so that the safety belt is guided within the gap onto the cutting edge so as to be severed if, after an accident, the operating element is moved across the safety belt.

  • Patent number: 5626391
Abstract: A rear vehicle seat assembly comprises a seat cushion member supported by a support sub-assembly having downwardly extending front and rear seat legs. Each front seat leg includes a forked leg member co-operable with an attachment rod on a vehicle floor. Each rear seat leg includes a forked leg portion co-operable with a attachment rod on the vehicle floor. A first moveable lock member mounted on each of the rear seat legs permits selective locking of the respective one of the rear seat legs on the corresponding attachment rod. A biasing spring urges each lock member to a locked position. A manually operable handle is mounted on each of said rear seat legs to provide for selective manipulation of each lock member into an unlocked position, in order to release the rear seat legs with respect to the corresponding attachment rod, thereby to allow the vehicle seat assembly to be pivotal about the attachment rods associated with the front seat legs, between a lowered position and an uptilted position.

  • Patent number: 5482349
Abstract: A latch mechanism is connected between the seatback member and the seat cushion member of a vehicle seat assembly to selectively control pivotal movement of the seatback member relative to the seat cushion member. A mounting mechanism is associated with each of the front and rear seat legs of the seat assembly and each such mounting mechanism is co-operable with a respective attachment member affixed to the vehicle floor to permit movement of the seat cushion member from a first in-use position within the vehicle to a second forwardly translated stowed position within the vehicle. The mounting member associated with at least one of the rear seat legs further comprises a lock mechanism that is selectively movable to restrainingly engage or disengage its respective attachment member.

  • Patent number: 5133484
Abstract: A liquid siphon for emptying containers such as drums includes a main suction pipe, of a relatively large diameter, and an auxiliary suction pipe, of a relatively small diameter, which auxiliary suction pipe is coextensive with the main suction pipe and extends slightly beyond the main suction pipe. At the location where the siphon is attached to a hose, a stopcock is provided which is used to close the main suction pipe when the siphon begins to draw air so that the auxiliary suction pipe along pulls liquid from the container. In this way residual liquid is removed from the container.

  • Patent number: 4986029
Abstract: A powered cross-arm window regulator assembly for a vehicle door having a unitized spacer and isolator of an engineering plastic material interposed between the motor and the sector gear and the support bracket of the assembly. This spacer and isolator dissipate some vibrational energy of the drive assembly and provides a cushioned and quiet downstop for the sector gear. The isolator presents a low friction bearing which contacts one side of the sector gear and cooperates with a low friction bearing on the bracket to provide a supporting guide for the sector gear therebetween during its pivotal operation in raising and lowering the window allowing the gear to be made with a large centralized cutout so that its mass is reduced. Furthermore, the isolator has locating pins to assist in the assembly of the regulator assembly insuring that it is properly put together for optimized operational efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4815598
Abstract: A storage magazine for recording tapes has disposed in a housing a plurality of chambers of a cross-section which corresponds to the cross-section of commercially available cassette boxes, the chambers being formed by drawer-like plastic components disposed on top of one another and compressed within the housing. The drawer-like components have tongue-like extensions projecting from the housing and being somewhat narrower than a cassette box to facilitate insertion and removal of a box and they also have, adjacent each chamber, a leaf spring structure depending into the adjacent chamber and having a spring force sufficient to deflect the adjacent wall of a cassette box into engagement with a cassette therein thereby to prevent rattling thereof and to lock the box in said chamber.

  • Patent number: 4678081
Abstract: A magazine for recording tape cassettes for use in vehicles has a plurality of chambers, each for the reception of a cassette and each having an opening corresponding to the cassette's smallest cross-section. The chambers have cantilevered spring leaves arranged at their top walls which leaves carry locking members including plates with cam-like edges projecting downwardly so as to engage the hub openings of the cassette reels to lock the reels and retain the cassettes in the chambers and to force them against their bottom support. The chambers further have resilient guide straps disposed at one of their sides so as to project into the chambers and engage and force the cassettes therein into firm engagement with the opposite chamber side walls, all chambers being formed by drawer-like building elements stacked on top of one another and compressed within the magazine housing.

  • Patent number: 4592219
Abstract: A keyholder for retaining keys in a bundle comprises a disc-shaped body consisting of two interconnected body halves with a recessed groove having a narrow slot opening circumferentially formed therein and adapted to receive head portions of key retainers which project through the slot opening. A slide cavity extends centrally through the body so as to intersect the circumferential groove with openings provided at opposite ends of the body to permit insertion of the key retainers into the circumferential groove. A slide of a length to fit the slide cavity length is resiliently centered in the slide cavity so as to block the openings in its center position but has an operating structure accessible through a window in one side of the disc member which permits sliding of the slide out of the center position in either direction so as to permit clearing of either of the openings for insertion or removal of key retainers into or from the circumferential groove.
